  • The paper established a new method for fast measurement and characterizing of sub-visible dirt of recycled paper which is too small to be seen with naked eye. This method provided a new way for the evaluation of recycled paper that is hard to be characterized by the conventional method. Two effective thresholding algorithms HA and SDA were compared and their applicable conditions were discussed. Results showed that the HA could be used for un-printed paper while SDA is suited for recycled papers. The gloss of paper samples was measured and the relation between gloss and sub-visible dirt was investigated. The significant effect of this method for characterizing and comparing paper was exhibited. The experiment results indicated that sub-visible dirt measuring method could be a complementariness of the conventional methods.

  • Dry washing by air and sand to clean dishes was investigated for establishing a dry washing process in a kitchen. Thirty seasonings and foods as dirt markers and fourteen kinds of dishes were used for the experiment, and washing efficiency was evaluated by COD-MN (mg/L). It was found that air dry washing effectively reduced COD-MN of some dirt markers but not effective at all to some dirt markers. It could be also said that dirt markers would not be completely removed by air dry washing. The shape of dishes also affected COD-MN reduction by air dry washing. Sand dry washing showed excellent efficiency on COD-MN reduction. Combination of air and sand dry washing may be necessary to make a dish dry washing system which is completely independent from water.

  • Skid resistance is an important factor that control braking distance and secure safety by preventing slipperiness between tire and pavement surface. Decrease of skid resistance at wet condition may cause fatal traffic accidents. Dirt materials such as sand and do-icings on the road surface also can be a factor for decrease skid resistance. This study makes an investigation into influence of skid resistance between varied cement concrete pavements about surface texturing method(transverse tining, longitudinal tining, exposed aggregate surface texturing method) and wearing condition of pavement surface texture(new constructed pavement's surface, wore pavement's surface) using accelerate concrete pavement wearing tester when remains of dirt material are obtained between tire and road surface on PCC pavement. As dirt material on road surface of concrete pavement, sand, calcium chloride and old oil were used with different amount of each cases.

  • Dynamic infrared thermography (DIRT) has been used for the preoperative mapping of cutaneous perforators. This technique has shown a positive correlation with intraoperative findings. Our aim was to evaluate the accuracy of perforator mapping with DIRT and augmented reality using a portable projector. For this purpose, three volunteers had both of their anterolateral thighs assessed for the presence and location of cutaneous perforators using DIRT. The obtained image of these "hotspots" was projected back onto the thigh and the presence of Doppler signals within a 10-cm diameter from the midpoint between the lateral patella and the anterior superior iliac spine was assessed using a handheld Doppler device. Hotspots were identified in all six anterolateral thighs and were successfully projected onto the skin. The median number of perforators identified within the area of interest was 5 (range, 3-8) and the median time needed to identify them was 3.5 minutes (range, 3.3-4.0 minutes). Every hotspot was correlated to a Doppler sound signal. In conclusion, augmented reality can be a reliable method for transferring the location of perforators identified by DIRT onto the thigh, facilitating its assessment and yielding a reliable map of potential perforators for flap raising.

  • The aerodynamic characteristics of large transport vehicle has become more and more important in recent vehicle design to improve driving performance in high speed cruising and raise the product valve with regard to a comfortable driving condition. Hence, detailed knowledge of the flow field around truck coner vane is essential to improve fuel efficiency and reduce the dirt contamination on vehicle body surface. In this study, three-dimensional flow characteristics around corner vane attached to truck cabin were computed for the steady, incompressible, and high speed viscous flow, adopting the RNG k-$\varepsilon$ turbulence model. In order to investigate the influence of configuration and structure of corner vane, computations were carried out for four cases at a high Reynolds number, Re=4.1$\times$106 (based on the cabin height). The global flow patterns, drag coefficient and the distributions such as velocity magnitude, turbulent kinetic energy around the corner vane, were examined. As a result of this study, we could identify the flow characteristics around corner vane for the variation of corner vane length and width. Also, suggest the improved structure to reduce the dirt contamination in cabin side.

  • The bleach efficiency between PY and YP bleaching of pulps, which were deinked in neutral (cellulase) and alkaline (NaOH, NaOH/${Na_2}{SiO_3}$) ranges, and were treated on kneader, was compared in this study. The brightness of pulps (84.8~88.4% ISO) which were deinked in alkaline or neutral ranges increased up to 88.4%~88.8% ISO after PY or YP bleaching. There was no difference in the brightness between PY and YP bleaching. And the dirt count of bleached pulps was similar each other at the range of 17~38 ppm. The tensile index of bleached pulps was slightly higher in PY bleaching than those in YP bleaching. While with the treatment of kneading, the brightness and dirt count decreased remarkably compared to those of no-kneading. However, the sharp difference in the brightnesses or in dirt count of bleached pulps decreased after bleaching. The brightness of bleached pulps at YP stages was only numberically higher than those at PY stages without regard to the treatment of kneading. Therefore, in the case of the neutral deinkiing process, the conversion of PY bleaching stages to YP bleaching stages was profitable to water loop system, and was harmless in the aspect of the bleach efficiency.

  • This paper describes the cause and measure of road structures failures in Kangwon area for year 2006 rain fall. Localized rainfall due to abnormal climate generates rock or dirt flows in upper stream and leads, the road structure failure located on mountains terrane. Main cause of such failures erosion, debris-flow, insufficient supply of culvert drainage system in ravine areas. It is needed to enhance the design methodology of road-drainage system and the remediation technology of rock and dirt flows

  • Film printing companies have many problems during a printing process. Most of all, even an insect or dirt stick to the transparent film may cause severe errors until the end of printing job, which means big economic damage to the company. To prevent some insect-dots or dirt-dots, we have to Inspect the total area of film. However, it is very difficult to inspect the film in real-time due to the high-speed of printing that usually more than 150 m/min. A hardware based approach, for example DSP-based approach can be the one of solution candidates, but the total cost and the complexity increases the very high-level. In this paper, we suggest a software based approach, using MMX technology, to inspect the film in real-time. By Many real-plant experiments, we can see the suggest approach is applicable for the inspection of food packaging film in real-time.

Methods to take out 28 ventilated system from super markets and hotels in Kunming in march 2004. To check dirt amount in pipelines and microorganism in dirt. Testing result is appraised under 'Public hygiene standard of ventilated system in air condition'. Results pollution problem exist in different degree in all the super markets and hotels that have been investigated. There is 32.14% which means 8 hotels and 1 super market, pollution is serious, The others (67.86%) is medium. Conclusion pollution problems exist in air condition system in all super markets and hotels of Kunming. Discussion aim at Kunming's special weather, and present condition of public ventilated system, discussing ways of management in hygiene of air condition system.
