The purposes of this study were to review current status and problems of national qualification sys tem in the field of industrial hygiene, focusing on the deficiencies in the regulatory system and the quality of individual professionals including the Industrial Hygiene Management Professional Engineer and the Industrial Hygiene Management Engineer, and to suggest new directions for the industrial hygiene qualification system. In addition, comparable systems adopted in other countires were reviewed.

In the design of experiments for response surface analysis, sometimes it is of interest to estimate the difference of responses at two points. If differences at points close together are involved, the design that reliably estimates the slope of response surface is important. This idea was conceptualized by slope rotatability by Hader & Park (1978) and Park (1987). Until now, second order polynomial models were only studied for slope ratatability. In this paper, we will propose the necessary and sufficient conditions for slope rotatability over all directions for the thired order polynomial models in two, three and four independent variables. Also practical slope rotatable designs over all directions for two independent variables are suggested.

Local dispute resolution has evolved in response to the need for effective ways to cope with the increasing numbers and types of local disputes. Where resources are limited, where the activities of individeuals or communities affect other individuals or communities, and where interests deviate or compete, disputes are likely to emerge. Efforts to resolve local disputes vary in their particulars but generally have certain elements in common. Therefore, this study focuses upon the fundamental directions and strategies for resolving local disputes. More specifically, the purpose of this study is to examine the causes of local disputes, to suggest fundamental directions for resolving local disputes, and then to explore the strategies for resovling local disputes. In the face of rising local disputes, planners need to become more aware of the possibilities for consensual dispute than one potential path to consensus. In spite of this variability, desirable strategies in local dispute resoultion processes can be identified.

The purpose of this study is to analyze use patterns of archival terms and suggests the directions for their standardization. This present paper begins with analyzing translation patterns of fundamental terminology in the area of records and archives management and compares with corresponding Chinese and Japanese words. And some problems of essential terms are discussed in the light of standardization criteria which are adjusted to archival terms. Based on these analyses, it suggests directions for standardizing archival terms.

In this paper, the learnability of haptic icons was tested as a way of conveying turn-by-turn directions to users involved in navigation interactions with commercial smartphones. To do this, six most distinctive haptic icons were identified from those having different duration of each pulse, interval between pulses, and rhythm. Associations between the selected haptic icons and 3 pairs of navigation directions were analyzed using data gathered from 30 subjects by 7 point Likert scale. The haptic icons were then assigned to proper directions based on the results from that stereotype analysis. The results showed that the commercial smartphone with one linear motor at a fixed location is not capable of making hapticons to have clear directional stereotypes. The hapticons with poor stereotypes has no advantage in learnability compared to those of random assignment.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the response characteristics of pushover analysis of upper wall-lower frame system with X and Y-directions' lateral load Pushover analysis estimates initial elastic stiffness, post-yielding stiffness, and plastic hinges on each story of structures through three-dimensional nonlinear analysis program. The conclusions of this study are as follows; (1) As a result of pushover analysis, the magnitude of nonlinear response and distribution of yield hinge in lower structure are similar with both X and Y directions, but not in upper structure because of different relative stiffness. (2) The maximum drift ratio of roof is larger for X-direction than for Y-direction with respect to magnitude of shear wall areas in upper structure.

This study aims to investigate test-retest reliability or reproducibility of the paper-pencil test for investigating stereotypes of seven principal controls of passenger cars. The controls include wiper, head light, high beam, door window, ignition key, door key and door lock. Sixty two college-aged students participated in the paper-pencil tests and the tests were conducted twice with an in-between period of 4 weeks. The results showed that the stereotypes of motion-directions for the seven controls by the two paper-pencil tests were the same, and that the percentage agreements between two tests by subjects were ranged from 60.0% to 80.6%. There was a weak linear relationship between averaged rates of responses for the stereotypes of motion-directions for the seven controls and percentage agreements by subjects. Based on these results, it is concluded that the paper-pencil test collects reliable or reproducible data on the stereotypes of motion-directions for passenger cars' controls within four weeks.

A new and modified neural network model Is proposed for CT image reconstruction from four projection directions only. The model uses the Resilient Back-Propagation (Rprop) algorithm, which is derived from the original Back-Propagation, for adaptation of its weights. In addition to the error in projection directions of the image being reconstructed, the proposed network makes use of errors in pixels between an image which passed the median filter and the reconstructed one. Improved reconstruction was obtained, and the proposed method was found to be very effective in CT image reconstruction when the given number of projection directions is very limited.

The purposes of this study were to analyze achievement of the Korea Agricultural Extension Specialist Association and suggest new directions for further development. The Korea Agricultural Extension Specialist Association was organized to develop competencies in specialized field for extension educators in 1996. About 47% of extension educators joined academy during the 5 year period, even though there were many difficulty in organizing extension educators, the Korea Agricultural Extension Specialist Association has achieved to increase independent learning activity, to share new information and improve agent’s competency. New directions for the future development of the Korea Agricultural Extension Specialist Association activities should include the following measures; 1) Academy manages to help member’s competency, 2) Every member of the Association tries to make a concrete goal of activity, 3) The Association members should find ways to enable farmers to remain informed on agricultural extension services to people.

This paper is proposed a construction directions of digital Korean study center for Korean cultural and historical materials. It was reviewed and analyzed for findings construction directions in domestic and abroad Web sites such as The Academy of Korean Studies, National History Compilation Committee, Seoul National University and Tufts University in the USA. The paper was recommended and guided new research directions for the construction of the digital Korean study center, and suggested some findings through comparative analysis for the center.
