The antenna is installed on the signal lamp of important crossroad and provides the wireless communication link between vehicles and RSE(Road Side Equipment). The required characteristics of BIS base station antenna are omni-directional beam pattern and specific beam pattern by the road and install environment and installed place of OBU. To get omni-directional beam pattern of antenna, Array configuration and OMA are applied. The measured results of fabricated antenna are as follows; return loss of 640MHz by -10 dB, and a gain of 10.3dBi. It is found that the measured beam patterns are similar to design results.

  • A wide-band multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna with dual-band (2.4 and 5 GHz) operation is proposed for premium indoor access points (IAPs). Typically, an omni-directional pattern is used for dipole antennas and a directional radiation pattern is used for patch antennas. In this paper, both antenna types were used to compare their performance with that of the proposed $2{\times}2$ MIMO antenna. We simulated and measured the performance of the MIMO antenna, including the isolation, envelope correlation coefficient (ECC), mean effective gain (MEG) for the IAPs, and the throughput, in order to determine its communication quality. The performance of the antennas was analyzed according to the ECC and MEG. The proposed antenna has sufficient performance and excellent characteristics, making it suitable for IAPs. We analyzed the communication performance of wireless networks using the throughput data of a typical office environment. The network throughput of an 802.11n device was used for the comparison and was conducted according to the antenna type. The results showed that the values of the ECC, MEG, and the throughput have unique characteristics in terms of their directivity, antenna gains, isolation, etc. This paper also discusses the communication performance of various aspects of MIMO in multipath situations.

  • In this paper, we have proposed a tapered slot antenna for UWB communication system. The tapered slot antenna has directional radiation and broad bandwidth. Proposed tapered slot antenna is designed using Ansys Inc. HFSS and its VSWR, return los, and radiation pattern is analyzed. Operating band of the antenna were satisfied -10 dB S11 and $VSWR{\leq}2$ in 2.7 ~ 4.8 GHz band. The radiation pattern of the antenna is showed in E-plane (YZ plane) and the H-plane (XZ plane) and the highest gain of 7.3 dBi is seen at 4.5 GHz. Therefore, proposed tapered slot antenna has wide bandwidth characteristic and directional for location awareness.

  • This paper presents the design method of a planar sleeve monopole antenna on PCB, which has wider bandwidth compared to that of the conventional sleeve monopole antenna, by showing the fact that the sleeve of the conventional antenna can be simplified in structure. The designed and fabricated planar sleeve monopole antenna's structure is very simple, with a monopole adjacent to a small square sleeve on FR4 PCB. The antenna shows 46% wider bandwidth compared to the corresponding 3-dimensional one with nearly omni-directional radiation property.

  • This paper present the characteristics of radiation pattern of microstrip slot antenna on the ground plane fed by microstrip line. It is proposed for resonance frequency at 10 GHz. We will analysis two shape of slot antenna; double L-shape slot antenna and U-shape slot antenna. In this case, we will compare far-field radiation pattern of two shape slot antenna. Far-field radiation pattern of double L-shape slot antenna is bi-directional nevertheless U-shape slot antenna is uni-directional. The microstrip slot antenna is propose to analyze far-field radiation pattern for use in the wireless communication systems

  • The C-band omni-directional antenna for drone control is mounted on the top or bottom and used to configure the communication link. The communication link is affected by the LOS depending on the mounting position of the omni-directional antenna. In this paper, two kinds of embedded antennas were designed with a commercial simulation tool CST MWS, and EM analysis was performed to consider the mounting environment. Also, we propose the PTMP ground antenna to control a large number of drones. The ground antenna has a communication link of 30km, and it consists of four sector antennas in the horizontal direction and one directional antenna at the top.

  • Although the magnitude of the disturbance caused by the driving of the motor operated to secure the high-speed and precise directivity of the antenna is small, it acts as a major cause of impairing the image quality of the observation satellite, which requires precision directing performance. In order to acquire high-resolution image information through the improvement of the high-resolution observation satellite, proper vibration isolation and reduction design are required so that jitter generated when the directional antenna motor is driven is not transmitted to the main mission equipment. In this paper, the development process of the directional antenna vibration reduction device applied to real satellites and the effect of micro vibration reduction before and after application will be examined. This device was designed as a way to significantly improve the jitter problem by replacing only one gear in the directional antenna driving unit with a spring damper gear without any additional interface equipment. It was first applied and launched to a high-resolution earth observation satellite, and has been successfully operated so far.

  • Topology management, which includes neighbor discovery, tracking and updating, is a key area that need to be dealt with appropriately to increase network performance. The use of directional antenna in Wireless Mesh Networks is beneficial in constructing backbone networks viewing the properties of directional antenna. The backbone links must be robust to obtain better network performance. In this paper, a simple yet effective topology protocol is presented that performs well compared to its predecessors. Our protocol constructs the topology with the constraints in the number of links per node. The full topology is constructed in two phases. The resultant topology is termed as Web-topology. The topology formed is robust, efficient, and scalable.

  • In this paper, a biconical type antenna is proposed for EMI test site validation above 1 GHz. To achieve broadband and omni-directional radiation patterns required by international standard(CISPR), the proposed antenna consists of general bicones with cylindrical loads and adopts side feeding method to minimize the influence on H-plane pattern due to feeding cable, balun, and connector. The radiation patterns of the fabricated antenna are measured and the results are compared with CISPR criteria and commercial antenna in our interest frequencies. Although the proposed antenna has a few problems in frequency range of 1 GHz to 2 GHz, it has relatively better performance than commercial antenna.

  • In this paper, the directional carrier sense multiple access/collision avoidance (CSMA/CA) protocol in the immediate acknowledgement mode for IEEE 802.15.3c is analyzed under saturation environments. For the analysis, a sensing region and an exclusive region with a directional antenna are computed probabilistically and a Markov chain model in which the features of IEEE 802.15.3c and the effects of using directional antennas are incorporated is analyzed. An algorithm to find the maximal number of concurrently transmittable frames is proposed. The system throughput and the average transmission delay are obtained in closed forms. The numerical results show the impact of directional antennas on the CSMA/CA media access control (MAC) protocol. For instance, the throughput with a small beamwidth of antenna is more than ten times larger than that for an omnidirectional antenna. The overall analysis is verified by a simulation. The obtained results will be helpful in developing an MAC protocol for enhancing the performance of mmWave wireless personal area networks.
