Near-infrared face recognition by fusion of E-GV-LBP and FKNN

  • To solve the problem of face recognition with complex changes and further improve the efficiency, a new near-infrared face recognition algorithm which fuses E-GV-LBP and FKNN algorithm is proposed. Firstly, it transforms near infrared face image by Gabor wavelet. Then, it extracts LBP coding feature that contains space, scale and direction information. Finally, this paper introduces an improved FKNN algorithm which is based on spatial domain. The proposed approach has brought face recognition more quickly and accurately. The experiment results show that the new algorithm has improved the recognition accuracy and computing time under the near-infrared light and other complex changes. In addition, this method can be used for face recognition under visible light as well.

Walking Features Detection for Human Recognition

  • Human recognition on camera is an interesting topic in computer vision. While fingerprint and face recognition have been become common, gait is considered as a new biometric feature for distance recognition. In this paper, we propose a gait recognition algorithm based on the knee angle, 2 feet distance, walking velocity and head direction of a person who appear in camera view on one gait cycle. The background subtraction method firstly use for binary moving object extraction and then base on it we continue detect the leg region, head region and get gait features (leg angle, leg swing amplitude). Another feature, walking speed, also can be detected after a gait cycle finished. And then, we compute the errors between calculated features and stored features for recognition. This method gives good results when we performed testing using indoor and outdoor landscape in both lateral, oblique view.

  • Facial expression recognition, a topical problem in the field of computer vision and pattern recognition, is a direct means of recognizing human emotions and behaviors. This paper first summarizes the datasets commonly used for expression recognition and their associated characteristics and presents traditional machine learning algorithms and their benefits and drawbacks from three key techniques of face expression; image pre-processing, feature extraction, and expression classification. Deep learning-oriented expression recognition methods and various algorithmic framework performances are also analyzed and compared. Finally, the current barriers to facial expression recognition and potential developments are highlighted.

  • 컴퓨팅 기술의 발전에 따라 선박의 안전항해를 지원하기 위해 Radar, GPS 등 다양한 장비들이 계량, 개발되고 있으며 그들은 선박 항해에 필요한 많은 정보를 제공하고 있다. 하지만 여전히 선박 충돌사고는 끊이지 않고 있으며, 선박 대형화에 힘입어 그 피해도 커지고 있는 실정이다. 이러한 선박 충돌사고는 앞에서 언급한 선박 항해 안전 장비의 성능제약을 받는 야간이나, 해상 환경 악화 시 두드러지게 발생하고 있으며, 특히 제한적인 상황에서 인간의 눈에만 의지해서 항해를 하고 있기 때문이기도 하다. 그래서 이러한 상황에서 Vision기술을 사용하여 카메라를 활용 상대선박을 자동으로 식별하는 시스템을 제안하고자 한다. 이는 선박들이 법적으로 야간이나 각종 장비들이 제한을 받는 상황에서 근처의 다른 선박에게 상황을 전달하기 위해서 등화(불빛)와 형상물을 사용해야한다는 점에서 착안하였다. 제안 시스템을 실제 해상 환경에서 실험하기에 제한점이 많아 프로토타입을 구현하여 실험실 환경에서 실험하고 사용자 평가를 실시하였다. 즉, LED를 가상 등화로 하여 선박에 설치된 것과 동일한 색상과 동일한 위치에 배치하고 이를 카메라를 활용하여 인식 실험을 하였으며 약 90%의 인식률을 보였다. 그리고 이러한 실험화면을 활용하여 항해업무 종사자 15명을 대상으로 사용자 평가를 실시하였으며 대부분의 사람들이 제안된 체계가 해상에서 유용하다고 답변하였다.

  • Mickey Mousing perfect match between animation sound and image was an aesthetic in the field of animation, but since the 2000s, works such as and released by producers such as DreamWorks and Pixar have expanded the perfection of synchronization to irony. It also influenced the identification system of sentiment. It is time to view the directing attempt of these elements as a factor that changed the new paradigm of narrative, and related research is needed. In this study, the scene of was analyzed as a case study for the synchronization of animation sound and image components and the boundary direction on the recognition of identification between reality and fiction. Aesthetic recognition of the research work is based on the premise of real time and space perception, and the audience can recognize in the conceptual world as an integrated art by playfully producing fictional time and space. The direct antithesis of synchronization and identification was drawn to maintain the curiosity of the next scene by repeating selective concealment and disclosure of information in the direction of conveying an unfamiliar and heterogeneous feeling to the audience.

Recognition of Car Plate using SOM Algorithm and Development of Parking Control System (SOM 알고리즘을 이용한 차량 번호판 인식과 주차 관리 시스템 개발)

  • In this paper, we propose the car plate recognition using SOM algorithm and describe the parking control system using the proposed car plate recognition. The recognition of car plate was investigated by means of the SOM algorithm. The morphological information of horizontal and vertical edges was used to extract a plate area from a car image. In addition, the 4-direction contour tracking algorithm was applied to extract the specific area, which includes characters from an extracted plate area. The extracted characteristic area was recognized by using the SOM algorithm. In this paper, 50 car images were tested. The extraction rate obtained by the proposed extraction method showed better results than that from the color information of RGB and HSI, respectively. And the car plate recognition using SOM algorithm was very efficient. We develop the parking control system using the proposed car plate recognition that shows performance improvement by the experimental results.

A Method for Driver Recognition and Steering Wheel Turning Direction Estimation Using Smartwatches (스마트워치를 이용한 자동차운전자 구분 및 핸들의 회전 방향 인지 기법)

  • As wearable technology is becoming more common and a part of our lives, there have been many efforts to offer various smart services with wearable devices, such as motion recognition, safety of driving, and so on. In this paper, we present a method that exploits the 9-axis inertial sensors embedded in a smartwatch to identify whether the user is a vehicle driver or not and to estimate the steering wheel turning direction in the vehicle. The system consists of three components: (i) position recognition, (ii) driver recognition, and (iii) steering-wheel turning detection components. We have developed a prototype system for detecting user's motion with Arduino boards and IMU sensors. Our experiments show high accuracy in recognizing the driver and in estimating the wheel rotation angle. The average experimental error was $11.77^{\circ}$ which is small enough to perceiver the turning direction of steering-wheel.

Compare of the Recognition by College Students about Hospital Service (병원서비스 제공에 대한 대학생들의 인식 비교)

  • Objectives : In this study, we were to investigated the recognition of the hospital services by college students with variable majors. Methods : In survey questionnaire included were 9 general questions, 18 items recognition of hospital services in questionnaire. For the statistical analysis of this study, we were used the IBM SPSS 21.0; t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression analysis were performed. Results : (1) The general characteristics of perception was as follows; recognition of hospital services in accordance with grade showed significant differences.(F=2.638, p<0.05) (2) Effect of the recognition was analyzed from the general characteristics; F value is 2.638(p<0.05) and 3.678(p<0.01) as shown; the regression model showed a significant expression. Conclusions : In this study, we observed the perception of the hospital service by college students. As a result, we could not see a statistically significant difference. These results can be interpreted as a show the direction of health education in the future.

  • This paper is a study on the implementation of speech recognition mobile robot to which the interactive speech recognition techniques is applied. The speech command uttered the sentential connected word and is asserted through the wireless mic system. This speech signal transferred LPC-cepstrum and shorttime energy which are computed from the received signal on the DSP board to notebook PC. In notebook PC, DP matching technique is used for recognizer and the recognition results are transferred to the motor control unit which output pulse signals corresponding to the recognized command and drive the stepping motor. Grammar network applied to reduce the recognition speed of the recogniger, so that real time recognition is realized. The misrecognized command is revised by interface revision through the conversation with mobile robot. Therefore, user can move the mobile robot to the direction which user wants.
