  • The purpose of this study was to explore the relationships of mother's childrearing behavior, children's behavior problems, locus of control and peer victimization. The subjects were 360 children of 4th and 6th grade and their mothers. The instruments were Peer Victimization Scale, CBCL, Locus of Control Scale for Children, Childrearing Behavior Scale. The major findings of this study were as follows; (1) The type of peer victimization had a significant difference between girls and boys. That is, boys were more focused on overt victimization than girls. There was no significant gender difference in relational victimization, And there was no significant grade difference in overt and relational victimization. (2) Mother's rejection-restriction childrearing behavior, children's social withdrawal behavior problems, extemal locus of control predicted children's peer victimization. 24% of the variance of children's peer victimization was explained by these variables. (3) Mother's rejection-restriction childrearing behavior was the first contribution factor and had a direct and indirect effect through children's locus of control on children's peer victimization. And children's social withdrawal behavior problems was second contribution factor and had a direct effect on children's peer victimization. Children's locus of control had a direct and indirect effect through children's social withdrawal behavior problems on children's peer victimization. Mother's warmth-acceptance and permissiveness-nonintervention childrearing behavior had indirect effect through children's locus of control on children's peer victimization.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine how congruity between self-image and store image affects a customer's satisfaction with the retailer, loyalty towards that retailer, and patronage behavior toward that retailer in a fashion retailing context. In addition to the direct effects of selfcongruity on consumer responses, the mediating roles of satisfaction and retailer loyalty were also examined. A convenience sample of 137 college students participated in an online survey. Path analysis showed that self-congruity had a direct effect on satisfaction, but not on retailer loyalty and patronage behavior. However, the effect of self-congruity on retailer loyalty and patronage behavior was fully mediated by satisfaction. Satisfaction had a positive effect on both retailer loyalty and patronage behavior. The effect of satisfaction on patronage behavior was partially mediated by retailer loyalty. As supported in the study, self-congruity can induce retailer loyalty. Given that retailers have direct control over developing a certain store image that affects perceptions of self-congruity of their target market, the findings of the study provide useful information for fashion retailers. The findings of the study add to current selfcongruity literature by extending to fashion retailing and also by examining the mediating roles of satisfaction and retailer loyalty on the effects of self-congruity.

  • Purpose - This study examines the determinants of foreign direct investment (FDI) location choice for Chinese firms, focusing on the agglomeration effect for firms of the same nationality. Design/methodology - The empirical data are China's inward FDI from the top 19 economies (excluding tax havens and Taiwan) in terms of FDI during 1997-2015 and China's outward FDI from the top 18 economies (excluding tax havens). This study uses a random effects generalized least squares model for panel data analysis. Findings - The results confirm that both host countries' costs and market conditions and the degree of agglomeration affect these countries' attractiveness for FDI inflows. Specifically, agglomeration has a significant effect on China's inward and outward FDI. This study confirms that the agglomeration of firms of the same nationality has predictive power for multinational enterprises' FDI location choices. The host countries' real GDP and trade openness also positively affect FDI inflows. Interestingly, however, China's production cost has a positive effect. Thus, inward FDI aimed at entering the Chinese market is increasing in recent years relative to the previous efficiency-seeking FDI. Inward FDI in China is therefore the market-entry type, whereas outward FDI by Chinese firms is the market-oriented type. Originality/value - These results suggest that the effects of the potential determinants of Chinese outward FDI are similar to those of inward FDI as China's trade liberalization progresses.

  • The purpose of this study is to test empirically the effect of Islamic business ethics and market conditions on organizational performance in state-owned construction companies in Indonesia. Data collection in this study was conducted online and the total number of data used was 81 respondents, both directors, heads of departments, and managers (general and project). This study uses a partial least squares structural equation model (PLS-SEM) with a quantitative approach that aims to test hypotheses and relationships between variables, such as Islamic business ethics, market conditions, project management, organizational culture, competitive strategy, and organizational performance. This study shows Islamic business ethics has a significant direct effect on organizational performance. Market conditions do not have a direct significant effect on organizational performance. Meanwhile, the mediating variables of project management and competitive strategy have a significant direct effect on organizational performance. Organizational culture does not have a significant influence on organizational performance. Conversely, market conditions have a significant influence through the mediating variables of project management and competitive strategy on organizational performance. Besides, this study is an attempt to determine the impact of the criteria factors affecting the measurement of the performance of construction organizations in Indonesia in terms of the external environment and organizational structure.

  • Soils are natural granular materials whose mechanical properties differ according to the size and composition of the particles, so soils exhibit an obvious scale effect. Traditional soil mechanics is based on continuum mechanics, which can not reflect the impact of particle size on soil mechanics. On that basis, a matrix-reinforcing-particle cell model is established in which the reinforcing particles are larger-diameter sand particles and the matrix comprises smaller-diameter bentonite particles. Since these two types of particles deform differently under shear stress, a new shear-strength theory under direct shear that considers the stress concentration and bypass phenomena of the matrix is established. In order to verify the rationality of this theory, a series of direct shear tests with different reinforcing particle diameter and volume fraction ratio are carried out. Theoretical analysis and experimental results showed that the interaction among particles of differing size and composition is the basic reason for the size effect of soils. Furthermore, the stress concentration and bypass phenomena of the matrix enhance the shear strength of a soil, and the volume ratio of reinforcing particles has an obvious impact on the shear strength. In addition, the newly proposed shear-strength theory agrees well with experimental values.

  • The purpose of this study was to measure the effects of trust, knowledge, optimism, risk and benefits on consumer attitudes toward genetically modified foods. A total of 326 questionnaires were completed. Moderated regression analysis was used to measure the relationships among the variables. The analysis results for the data indicated a good model fit in Model 2 rather than Model 1, in which the direct effects of trust, optimism and benefits had statistically significant direct effects on the respondents' attitudes toward genetically modified foods, while the direct effects of knowledge and risk were not statistically significant. As expected, the interaction term of risk and benefit had a significant effect on consumer attitude. Moreover, the effect of risk on consumer's attitude toward genetically modified foods was statistically significant at all levels of benefit, except at the lower benefit level. Finally, the results of this study indicated that genetically modified food developers and marketers should attach importance to the interaction effect of benefits to understand the elements of market demand and customer loyalty.

  • To know possibility of raw ginseng production for white- and red-ginseng by direct-sowing culture, seeds were directly sowed or seedlings were transplanted at soil condition of sandy loam in ginseng field. After cultivation, the characters of 5-year-old ginseng were investigated. Number of survived plants was increased with increase the seeding quantity in direct-sowing culture, the survived plants in direct-sowing culture was higher than that of transplanting one. Rate of the numbers of survived plants to numbers of seeds sowed in plots of 134 or 90 seeds sowed per tan, 180 x 90cm area, inspire of high number of survived plant was high compared to that of transplanting culture. Occurrence rate of rusty root of ginseng in direct-sowing culture was low significantly compared to that of transplanting culture. Root yield showed in the order of 134, 268, 90 seeds sowed, the values of yield in direct-sowing culture were high obviously compared to that of transplanting one. Individual root weight was increased with decrease the seeding quantity, however, the root weight in plot of 90 seeds sowed showed almost equal the weight in transplanting culture. The number of usable raw ginseng for white- and red-ginseng was increased with decrease of the seeding quantity; the numbers were higher than that of transplanting culture remarkably. We concluded that optimum seedling rate in direct-sowing culture of ginseng was 90 to 134 seeds per tan considering the yield per area and production rate of large root.

  • In this study, experimental approaching method was applied under and single-cylinder engine to research the performance of direct needle-driven piezo injector (DPI) for CR direct-injection. As key-point factor of this DPI that relies on direct-acting operating of injector needle, unlike conventional hydraulic-servo, its nozzle needle can be directly driven by piezo actuator. Thus, effect of direct-acting injection of DPI on diesel combustion and emission characteristics was investigated under common-rail single-cylinder direct-injection engine, equipped with three different driving mechanism, including indirect-acting solenoid, piezo and DPI system. As main results, it found that a direct-acting piezo injector has higher of IMEP. And it has higher heat release rate during premixed combustion and mixing controlled combustion phase due to its higher heat release, even though nitrogen oxide (NOx) formations were increased slightly.

  • Direct ECC bypass phenomena that occur in a reactor vessel downcomer with a Direct Vessel Injection (DVI) system during the reflood phase of a Large Break Loss-of-Coolant Accident (LBLOCA) are experimentally investigated using a transparent l/7.5 scaled down test facility of the Upper Plenum Test Facility (UPTF). A series of separate effect tests are peformed in order to investigate the mechanisms of direct ECC bypass and to find out its scaling parameters. Various flow regimes and phasic distribution in downcomer are identified and mapped, and the fraction of direct ECC bypass is measured under a wide range of air and water injection conditions. From the counterpart test of the UPTF Test 21-D, the dimensionless gas velocity ( $j^{*}$$_{g,eff}$) is derived experimentally, which is believed to be a major scaling parameter for the fraction of direct ECC bypass. And it is found out that the direct ECC bypass is greatly affected by the spreading width of ECC water film and the geometric configuration of the downcomer.r.
