to more effectively drive immune responses toward antigen-specific T helper type 2 (Th2) cell-mediated responses, we constructed a mammalian expression vetor (oPVA/IL4) carrying a fused gene in which the ovalbumin (OVA) cDNA was covalently linked to murine interleukin-4 (IL-4) cDNA. A biologically active OVA/IL4 DNA, as demonstrated by Wes tern blotting and cytokine bioassay. In tramuscular injection of BALB/c mice with the pOVA/IL4 DNA increased both the production of OVA-specific IL-4 by CD$4^{+}$ T cells and the ratio of anti-OVA lgG1 to anti-OVA lgG2a isotypes, while the injection with the pOVA DNA alone, or with the mixture of the pOVA and pIL4 DNA did no or little increase. furthermore, the OVA-specific, Th2 cell-mediated immune responses were significantly enhanced by multiple injections with the pOVA/IL4 DNA. These studies indicate that the direct linkage of an OVA gene to an IL-4 gene in the expression plasmid confines the effects of IL-4 to the OVA-specific cells, efficiently driving the immune response toward OVA-specific, Th2 cell-mediated responses.
Hyundai Heavy Industries has developed a tidal current energy converter utilizing the accumulated technology as the world largest constructor for ship and offshore structures. The model has two sets of turbines in both ends in order to utilize the bi-directional current flows in flood and ebb tide. The torque produced by turbine in tidal current is directly delivered to generator along the horizontal axis, in which the turbine, gear, generator, gear and turbine are connected successively. The manufactured model for field test has the turbine diameter of 5 meters to produce the maximum power of 500kW at maximum current speed of 5m/s. The technical verification of tidal power converter was performed by means of small scale model test in towing tank as well as field test at the Strait of Uldolmok located in Jindo of Jeollanamdo province. Field test was performed by mounting the tidal current converter on the SEP(Self Elevating Platform) which could lower the 4 vertical legs on the seabed and could elevate platform over the water surface using the hydraulic power for itself. The field test performed for a month shows that power output is similar or larger compared with the expected one in design stage. This paper presents the development of tidal current energy converter and real sea field test by Hyundai Heavy Industries. This project has finished successfully and provided the technical advance toward commercial services for tidal current power generation in the south-west region in Korea.
A finite element model development of a 50th percentile male cervical spine is presented in this paper. The model consists of rigid, geometrically accurate vertebrae held together with deformable intervertibral disks, facet joints, and ligaments modeled as a series of nonlinear springs. These deformable structures were rigorously tuned, through failure, to mimic existing experimental data; first as functional unit characterizations at three cervical levels and then as a fully assembled c-spine using the experimental data from Duke University and other data in the NHTSA database. After obtaining satisfactory validation of the performance of the assembled ligamentous cervical spine against available experimental data, 22 cervical muscle pairs, representing the majority of the neck's musculature, were added to the model. Hill's muscle model was utilized to generate muscle forces within the assembled cervical model. The muscle activation level was assumed to be the same for all modeled muscles and the degree of activation was set to correctly predict available human volunteer experimental data from NBDL. The validated model is intended for use as a post processor of dummy measurement within the simulated injury monitor (SIMon) concept being developed by NHTSA where measured kinematics and kinetic data obtained from a dummy during a crash test will serve as the boundary conditions to "drive" the finite element model of the neck. The post-processor will then interrogate the model to determine whether any ligament have exceeded its known failure limit. The model will allow a direct assessment of potential injury, its degree and location thus eliminating the need for global correlates such as Nij.

This paper deals with the control and fault monitoring of a DDV hydraulic actuation system. A hydraulic servo system has a nonlinear dynamics of an orifice flow through a valve spool. A full nonlinear model for a DDV actuation system is driven, and linearized to a simple model which is convenient for a control loop and fault monitor design. A top level requirement on the performance and safety for the actuation system is introduced. A control system and fault monitoring structure which can meet these requirements are discussed. A simulation package for a DDV actuation system which has a triplex redundant structure is developed.
This paper describes the improvement of driving stability and the control system for INMEL-VII which is motorized manual wheelchair to satisfy requirements of the disabled The INMEL-VI was based on high maneuverability of the omnidirection drive and safety But the results of field tests about two years showed some problems to the disabled in daily life such as driving stability, Pm switching noise, and rotation of motor without driving command on negative slope. To solve the problems due to an increased DC motor power and applied to direct connection method in INMEL- VII. It improved the driving circuits and set switching frequency to 5KHz to eliminate the switching noise caused by PWM control of DC motor, As compare with the INMEL-VI, INMEL-VII is improved in driving stability by transfer the weight center to forward. The results of field testing proved the improvement of the driving stability and software algorithm It has been estimated to have a hlgh practical use for powered walking aids to the disabled's daily life.
The main purpose of this study is to explore a way of South-North Korea fisheries cooperation through international organizations under the principles of the Korean peninsula trust process. Considering the government policy toward the North, although some humanitarian aids or cooperations may be plausible with permission of the Ministry of Reunification. direct cooperations between the South and the North Korea must be much limited at leat under the present government. The 5.24 measures taken in 2010 banned in fact all economic/humanitarian cooperations by private sectors and government. Noting the present and the visible future, an important question is whether the North accepts all cooperations including fisheries, bartering giving up nuclear weapon development for the 5.24 measures. It would be a difficult question to be answered, because win-set to both parties is too narrow, so far as there is no change in the South-North conflicting priority policies. If so, one way of implementing South-North fisheries cooperations is to drive forward cooperative programs through UN organizations. Since for instance FAO and WFP secure justification and roles and has a global network, they have sufficient capacity of being abe to organize fisheries experts. If the South can finance the budget necessary for the programs, FAO or WFP would lead the programs through a negotiation with the North. In other words, it is a type of cooperative model that FAO or WFP leads the programs and the South finances. In addition, if World Fisheries University(WFU) is invited to the Republic of Korea, it might make a great contribution to expert exchange of the North.
Spatial decision support systems(SDffi), a new class of decision support system(DSS), result from the melding together of GIS and DSS, Planning support systems(PS5) add more advanced spatial analysis functions than GIS and intertemporal functions to the functions of SDSS. This paper reports the development of a planning support system providing a framework that facilitates urban planners and civil engineers in conducting coherent deliberations about the generation of satisficing sewers. 1he planning support system for the generation of satisficing sewers(PS5/GSS) was designed from the understanding that land use and development drive the demand for storm and sanitary sewers. Through four stages of supply, demand, alternative generation, and evaluation, PSS/GSS integrates basic planning, preliminary design, and engineering design of sewer. GIS and graphic user interface are excellent toolboxes for designing sewer networks, estimating the quantity of wastewater, and showing generated alternative sewers. A sewer model using simulation tedmique can generate an initial sewer. Users can define alternative sewers by the direct manipulation of sewer networks or by the manipulation of parameters in the sewer model. The sewer model evaluates the performance of the user defined alternatives.

DC motor requires a rotor speed sensor for accurate speed control. The speed sensors such as resolvers and encoders are used as a speed detector, but they increase cost and size of the motor and restrict the industrial drive applications. So in these days, many papers have reported in the sensorless operation of DC motor〔35〕. This paper presents a new sensorless strategy using neural networks〔68〕. Neural network has three layers which are input layer, hidden layer and output layer. The optimal neural network structure was tracked down by trial and error, and it was found that 4161 neural network structure has given suitable results for the instantaneous rotor speed. Also, learning method is very important in neural network. Supervised learning methods〔8〕 are typically used to train the neural network for learning the input/output pattern presented. The backpropagation technique adjusts the neural network weights during training. The rotor speed is gained by weights and four inputs to the neural network. The experimental results were found satisfactory in both the independency on machine parameters and the insensitivity to the load condition.

In contrast to conventional electromagnetic motor, USM(Ultrasonic Motor), as piezoelectric ceramic applying ultrasonic mechanical vibration and as frictional-movement type motor, get rotational torque by elastic friction between stator and rotator, The USM, which is small motor without iron cores and coil as a simple structure, has little load weight, has character of high torque at low speed, and can apply a direct drive type without deceleration gear as low speed type. A response of USM from control input is satisfactory, and also generates much torque in low speed driving, and holding torque is much without supplying power. In this study, I designed and made Ultrasonic motor-digital multi controller(USM- DMC) using FPGA chip, A54SX72A made in Actel Corporation. By the minute, USM-DMC can control frequency, duty ratio, and phase difference of USM by llbit digital input from Pc. Therefore, when we use this controller, we can apply to typical parameter, frequency, phase difference, and voltage parameter, to control as well as we can do mixing control like phase-frequency, phase-voltage, frequency-voltage, frequency-phase-voltage, What is more, the strongest point is that it can trace frequency based on optimized frequency because we can input optimized resonant frequency while in motoring.
In hard disk drives as the head to disk spacing continues to decrease to facilitate recording densities, slider disk interactions have become much more severe due to direct contact of head and disk surfaces in both start/stop and flying cases. The slider disk interaction in CSS (contact-start-stop) mode is an important source of particle generation and tribocharge build-up. The tribocharge build-up in the slider disk interface can cause ESD (electrostatic discharge) damage. In turn, ESD can cause severe melting damage to MR or GMR heads. The spindle speed of typical hard disk drives has increased in recent years from 5400 rpm to 15000 rpm and even higher speeds are anticipated in the near future. And the increasing disk velocity leads to increasing disk acceleration and this might affect the tribocharging phenomena of the slider/disk interface. We investigated the tribocurrent/voltage build-up generated in HDD, operating at increasing disk accelerations. In addition, we examined the effects with relative humidity conditions and rest time. We found that the tribocurrent/voltage was generated during pico-slider/disk interaction and its level was about $3\sim16pA$ and $0.1\sim0.3V$, respectively. Tribocurrent/voltage build-up was reduced with increasing disk acceleration. Higher humidity conditions $(75\sim80%)$ produced lower levels tribovoltage/current. Therefore, a higher tribocharge is expected at a lower disk acceleration and lower relative humidity condition. Rest time affected the charge build-up at the slider-disk interface. The degree of tribocharge build-up increased with increasing rest time.
