팽창률이 일정한 노즐을 사용한 AIR-KNIFE 유동에 관한 연구 (A STUDY ON THE FLOW CHARACTERISTICS OF AIR-KNIFE USING A CONSTANT EXPANSION RATE NOZZLE)

  • In the process of continuous hot-dip galvanizing, it is well known that the gas wiping through an air knife system is most effective because of its uniformity in coating thickness, possibility of thin coating, workability in high speed, and simplicity of control. However, gas wiping used in the galvanizing process brings about a problem of splashing at the strip edge above a certain high speed of process. It is also known that the problem of edge splashing is more harmful than that at the mid strip surface. For a given liquid(of a certain viscosity and surface tension), the onset of splashing mainly depends upon the strip velocity, the gas-jet pressure, and the nozzle's stand-off distance. In these connections in the present study, we proposed three kinds of air knife system having nozzles of constant expansion rate, and compared the jet structures issuing from newly proposed nozzle systems with the result by a conventional one. In numerical analysis, the governing equations are consisted of two-dimensional time dependent Navier-Stokes equations, and the standard k-${\varepsilon}$ turbulence model is employed to solve turbulence stress and so on. As the result, it is found that we had better use the constant expansion-rate nozzle which can be interpreted from the point view of the energy saving for the same coating thickness. Also, we better reduce the size of separation bubble and enhance the cutting ability at the strip surface, by using an air-knife having constant expansion-rate nozzle.

  • Laminated LTCC components of high integrity, fabricated by thick film process, are applied to industrial field of IT technology along with miniaturization trend of electronic devices. Dispersion states were examined by several evaluation methods with MLS-22, which is one of commercial LTCC powders, to achieve optimal dispersion as basis for stable LTCC fabrication process. Slurry viscosity, surface roughness of dip-coated slide glass, sedimentaion of slurry, and SEM observation of dried surface were utilized with respective amount change of various commercial dispersants. Among these commercial dispersants, optimal dispersion state was obtained with 0.4 wt% of BYK-111, from the results of various evaluation methods.

  • This work reports a facile and effective antibacterial coating for oxide substrates. As a coating material, a random copolymer, abbreviated as poly(TMSMA-r-PEGMA), was synthesized by radical polymerization of 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate (TMSMA) and poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (PEGMA). Polymeric self-assembled monolayers of poly(TMSMA-r-PEGMA) were formed on various inorganic oxide substrates, including silicon oxide, titanium dioxide, aluminum oxide, and glass, via the simple dip-coating process. The polymer-coated substrates were characterized by ellipsometry, contact angle measurements, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The bacterial adhesion on the polymer-coated substrates was completely suppressed compared to that on the uncoated substrates.

  • We have investigated the MOD process successfully for the fabrication of the YBCO thick film on the $LaAlO_3$(001) single crystalline substrate. The cracking problem in YBCO thick film, a serious problem in the conventional TFA-MOD method, could be overcome with a careful control of precursor materials. Thus coating solution was prepared for the YBCO thick film by using fluorine-free precursor material. The precursor solutions were coated on the LAO(001) single crystalline substrate using the dip coating method, calcined at the temperature up to $500^{\circ}C$, and fired at various high temperatures for 2 h in a reduced oxygen atmosphere. Optimally processed YBCO thick film exhibited high critical current($I_c$) over 200 A/cm-width at 77K in self-field.

  • 입도가 다른 두 가지 고순도 ${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$ 분말을 이용하여 slip casting법과 담금코팅(dip coating)법으로 다공질 알루미나 지지체와 중간층을 각각 제조하였으며, 그 위에 분리막인 산화티탄($Tio_2$)층을 Ti-naphthenate용액으로 screen printing한 후 열분해시켜 형성시킴으로써, 3층 구조의 비대칭성 세라믹 분리막을 제조하였다. 알루미나 지지체의 곡강도, 기공율 및 평균 기공크기는 각각 231 Kg/$cm^2$, 30.26%, 0.19 ${mu}m$였으며, 중간층은 두께가 약 30 ${mu}m$, 평균 기공크기가 0.063 ${mu}m$였다. 또한 최상층 $Tio_2$ 분리막은 그 두께가 약 0.5 ${mu}m$였으며 평균 약 20 nm 정도의 미세 기공들이 매우 균일하게 형성되어 있었다.

The Applications of Sol-Gel Derived Tin Oxide Thin Films

  • Transparent conducting $SnO_2$-based thin films have been coated on float substrates such as fused quartz, and ceramic fiber cloths such as the Nexel and E-glass cloth from tin alkoxides by the sol-gel technique. Also, thin films of alternating layers of $SnO_2$ and $SiO_2$ have been fabricated by dip coating. The sheet resistance and average visible transmittance of the films were investigated in the aspect of the applications as transparent electrodes such as liquid crystal displays, photo-detectors and solar cells. The Nextel and E-glass cloths coated with antimony-doped tin oxide (ATO) had sheet resistance of as low as $20 \;ohm/{\Box}$ and $120ohm/\;{\Box}$, respectively. The promotion effects of additives as $La_2O_3$ and Pt on the ethanol gas sensing properties of the films were investigated in the aspects of the applications as an alcohol sensor and a breath alcohol checker. Possible evidence of quantum well effects in the oxide multilayers of $SnO_2$ and $SiO_2$ was investigated.

  • 딥 코팅 공정을 통하여 콜로이드 $Fe_2O_3$ 나노입자의 단일층을 다공성의 AAO (Anodic Aluminum Oxide) 기판에 형성하였다. 나노입자의 평균 사이즈는 20 nm이고, 각각의 나노입자는 올레익 산(oleic acid) 으로 둘러싸여 옥탄(octane) 용액 안에 분산되어있다. AAO 기판은 알루미늄에 높은 균일성과 고밀도의 기공(pore) 형성을 위해 두 단계 양극산화공정을 통해 제작하였다. AAO 기공의 지름은 ${\sim}$30에서 100 nm 이고, 딥 코팅 공정의 속도는 0.1 mm/sec 로 하여 AAO의 나노기공 안에 나노입자의 단일층을 성공적으로 형성시켰다.

Fabrication and Characterization of Functional Gradient Ceramic Bone Substitutes

  • Recently, highly porous bone substitutes, which have interconnected open pore structure, have been focused on improving their mechanical properties and modifying their functions. Especially, it is highly required to develop functional gradient structured bone substitute which is available for controlling their material properties such as bioresorption rate and elastic modulus. Porous $ZrO_2$ scaffold was fabricated by the sponge replica method using PU sponge. After 3 times of dip coating and the subsequent oven drying, burning out and microwave sintering were carried out. Various $ZrO_2$-BCP powder mixtures were prepared depending on the ratio and coated on the $ZrO_2$ scaffold by dip coating process. X-ray diffraction analysis was performed to characterize the phase identification of the scaffolds. Microstructures of the bone substitutes were observed using scanning electron microscopy.

Preparation of SiO2-CuO-CeO2 Composite Powders and Its Thin Film Templated with Oxalic Acid

  • Silica-based ceramic-matrix composites have shown promise as advanced materials for many applications such as chemical catalysts, ceramics, pharmaceuticals, and electronics. $SiO_2$-CuO-$CeO_2$ multi-component powders and their thin film, using an oxalic acid template as a chelating agent, have larger surface areas and more uniform pore size distribution than those of inorganic acid catalysts. $SiO_2$-CuO-$CeO_2$ composite powders were synthesized using tetraethylorthosilicate, copper (II) nitrate hemi (pentahydrate), and cerium (III) nitrate hexahydrate with oxalic acid as template or pore-forming agent. The process of thermal evolution, the phase composition, and the surface morphology of these powders were monitored by thermogravimetry-differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDXS). The mesoporous property of the powders was observed by Brunner-Emmett-Teller surface (BET) analysis. The improved surface area of this powder template with oxalic acid was $371.4m^2/g$. This multi-component thin film on stainless-steel was prepared by sol-gel dip coating with no cracks.

졸-겔공정에 의해 Polymethylmethacrylate위에 실리카 코팅 (Silica Coating on Polymethylmethacrylate by Sol-Gel Process)

  • In order to improve the surface characteristics of polymethylmethacrylate(PMMA), oxide thin film coatings were applied using the sol-gel dip-coating technique. The $Si(OC_2H_5)_4$, tetra-ethyl-ortho-silicate(TEOS) was used as a starting material for $SiO_2$ coating. The hardness of the alkoxy-derived oxide-coated PMMA was increased from 190 MPa for non-coated PMMA with increasing film thickness. By optimizing the heating conditions and the hydrolysis conditions, a maximum apparent hardness obtained In the present study was achieved 310 MPa using the withdrawal velocity of 5cm/min and heat treatment at $90^{\circ}C$ for 5 hours, which is about 1.6 times larger than that of uncoated PMMA.
