Study on the Preparation and Characteristics of $(Pb_{1-x}Sr_x)TiO_3$ Thin Films by the Sol-gel Process (졸-겔법을 이용한 $(Pb_{1-x}Sr_x)TiO_3$ 박막의 제조 및 특성에 관한 연구)

  • To prepare the dielectric thin films of (Pb1-xSrx)TiO3 (x=0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.35, 0.5) by the sol-gel process titanium (IV) isopropoxide (Ti[OCH(CH3)2]4) and Pb Sr, acetate were used therefore the thin films were fabricated by dip-coating method. Stability of the sol decreased with addition of Sr content thin films could be fabricated up to 35mol% Over this range precipitation of sol occured thin films couldn't be obtained. Transmittance of thin films at visible range decreased with the increase of heat-treatment temperature but exhibited transmit-tance above 60% in all case. Moreover transmittance of thin films at visible range slightly increased with of addition of Sr,. When thin film containing 30 mol% srontium was heated at 600℃ the best perovskite phase was obtained. The dielectric constant (ε) was 280 and dielectric loss factor (tan δ) was 0.021 and curie tempera-ture (Tc) decreased with the increase of addition of Sr.

  • Hydrophilic polyphosphazenes were synthesized from hydrophobic polyphosphazenes by adding methoxyethylenoxy side chains and cast by dip-coating method into membranes supported on porous polypropylene mesh filter sheet for metal separation testing. A solution of $Cr^{3+},\;Co^{2+},\;Mn^{2+}$ nitrates was used in diffusion experiments which were conducted from $25^{\circ}C$ to $60^{\circ}C$. lt was found that the ion transport properties were increased as the repeating number of ethylenoxy side chain increased. Membrane from trifluoroethoxy methoxyethoxyethoxyethoxy co-substituted polyphosphazenes was found to separate $Cr^{3+}$ ion from $Mn^{2-}$ and $Co^{2+}$ ions with separation factor of 4.5 at $60^{\circ}C$.

Efficiency Improvement of Metal-Mesh Electrode Type Photoelectrochemical Cells by Oxides Layer Coatings (산화물박막 증착에 의한 금속 메쉬전극 구조 광전기화학셀의 효율 개선에 관한 연구)

  • In this work, the $TiO_2$ and $SnO_2$ thin films as blocking layers were coated directly onto the metal-mesh electrode surface to prevent unnecessary inflow of back-transfer electrons from the electrolyte ($I^-/I_3^-$) to the metal-mesh electrode. The DSCs were fabricated with working electrode of SUS mesh coated with blocking $TiO_2$ and $SnO_2$ layers, dye-attached mesoporous $TiO_2$ film, gel electrolyte and counter electrode of Pt-deposited F:$SnO_2$. From the experimental result, it was ascertained that the efficiency of metal electrode coated with $TiO_2$ by Dip-coating was superior to that of metal electrode coated with $SnO_2$ by Dip-coating and screen printing with the results of experiments. The photo-current conversion efficiency of the cell obtained from optimum fabrication condition was 3% ($V_{oc}$=0.61V, $J_{sc}$=11.64 mA/$cm^2$, ff=0.64) under AM1.5, 100 mW/$cm^2$ illumination.

Characteristics of Bio-Piezoelectric Generator Using Edible Collagen Powder (식용 콜라겐 분말을 적용한 바이오 압전 발전기의 특성)

  • Because collagen is inherently piezoelectric, research is being actively conducted to utilize it to harvest energy. In this study, a collagen solution was prepared using edible low-molecular-weight peptide collagen powder, and collagen films were fabricated using a dip coating method. The collagen films prepared by dip coating showed a smooth surface without defects such as pinholes or cracks. Dehydrothermal treatment of the collagen films was performed to induce a stable molecular structure through cross-linking. The collagen film subjected to dehydrothermal treatment at 110 ℃ for 24 h showed a thickness reduction rate of 19 %. Analysis of the collagen films showed that the crystallinity of the collagen film improved by about 7.9 % after dehydrothermal treatment. A collagen film-based piezoelectric nanogenerator showed output characteristics of approximately 13.7 V and 1.4 ㎂ in a pressure test of 120 N. The generator showed a maximum power density of about 2.91 mW/m2 and an output voltage of about 8~19 V during various human body movements such as finger tapping. The collagen film-based piezoelectric generator showed improved output performance with improved crystallinity and piezoelectricity after dehydrothermal treatment.

  • Specific capacitance and charge-discharge rate of EDLC using activated carbon electrode were affected by the compositions of electrolytes, the conditions of charge-discharge and physical properties of activated carbon materials. The activated carbon electrode was prepared by dip coating method. Charge-discharge test and electrochemical experiments were carried out for various kinds of organic electrolytes. Effects of charge and discharge current density on the specific capacitance were studied. Characteristics of leakage current, self-discharge and time-voltage curves in optimum conditions of organic electrolytes were compared with conventional $1M-Et_4NBF_4/PC$ electrolyte. The EDLC using MSP-20(specific surface area: $2000m^2/g$) electrode and $1M-LiPF_6/PC-DEC(1:1)$ was exhibited th highest specific capacitance of 130F/g and low polarization resistances. The EDLC using MSP-20 electrode at $1M-LiPF_6/PC-DEC(1:1)$ was small leak current of 0.0004A for 15min, long voltage retention of 0.8V after 100h and linear time-voltage curves with small IR-drop.

  • We have investigated the MOD process successfully for the fabrication of the YBCO thick film on the $LaAlO_3$(001) single crystalline substrate. The cracking problem in YBCO thick film, a serious problem in the conventional TFA-MOD method, could be overcome with a careful control of precursor materials. Thus coating solution was prepared for the YBCO thick film by using fluorine-free precursor material. The precursor solutions were coated on the LAO(001) single crystalline substrate using the dip coating method, calcined at the temperature up to $500^{\circ}C$, and fired at various high temperatures for 2 h in a reduced oxygen atmosphere. Optimally processed YBCO thick film exhibited high critical current($I_c$) over 200 A/cm-width at 77K in self-field.

Effect of Sr/Zr Ratio and Organic Vehicle Addition on Bond Strength of $SrZrO_3 $ Thin Films ($SrZrO_3 $박막의 접착강도에 미치는 Sr/Zr 몰비와 유기화합물 첨가효과)

  • $SrZrO_3 $resistive oxide barriers on Ag sheathed Bi2223 tapes were prepared by the sol-gel and dip coating method to reduce AC coupling loss. The performance of the dip-coated $SrZrO_3 $ thin films was evaluated in terms of bond strength by varying the Sr/Zr mol ratio and the amount of organic vehicle (ethyl cellulose and a-terpineol) additives. The bond strength of the coatings increased as the Sr/Zr ratio decreased and the amount of organic vehicle rose, respectively. It was found that the effect of organic vehicle addition was more pronounced, suggesting that the adherence of the $SrZrO_3 $ films on Bi2223 tapes was governed primarily by the amount of organic vehicle additive.

A study of hydroxyapatite coating on Ti-6Al-4V alloy with different surface treatments using a sol-gel derived precursor

  • In the present study, a simple method was successfully used for hydroxyapatite coatings on Ti-6AL-4V substrates deposited by using a sol-gel derived precursor. Prior to hydroxyapatite coating the samples were micropolished (0.1 micron) and divided into three sets. The first set, were the micropolished samples kept as such. The second set were coated with titania sol and the third set was treated with 5M NaOH. After three repetitions of hydroxyapatite coating procedures on each set and heat treatment at $600^{\circ}C$, the formation of hydroxyapatite has been confirmed by XRD analyses and the substrate material was found to be oxidized with negligible amount of CaO in the coating. Preparation and Characterization of SiC Coated Graphite Foam (SiC가 코팅된 그라파이트 Foam의 제조 및 특성 분석)

  • Graphite is widely used in electronic industry due to its excellent electrical and thermal properties. However, graphite starts to oxidize around $400^{\circ}C$ that seriously degrades its properties. SiC coating can be applied to graphite foam to improve its high temperature oxidation resistance. In this research, SiC coating on graphite foam was made via preceramic polymer using a polyphenylcarbosilane. 20% of polyphenylcarbosilane in hexane solution was coated onto graphite by dip coating method. Thermal oxidation was carried out at $200^{\circ}C$ for crosslink of the preceramic polymer and the sample were pyrolysized at $800^{\circ}C{\sim}1200^{\circ}C$ under nitrogen to convert the preceramic polymer to SiC film. The microstructure of the SiC coating after pyrolysis was investigated using FESEM and oxidation resistance up to $800^{\circ}C$ was evaluated.

Characteristics on ceramic membrane of alumina synthesized by precipitation method(I) (침전법으로 합성된 알루미나 분말을 이용한 세라믹 분리막 제조에 관한 연구(I))

  • Aluminum hydrates were synthesized using $AlCl_3$.$6H_2O$as starting material by precipitation method. The phases of obtained powder were amorphous, boehmite, bayerite, nordstrandite depending on the pH of solutions. Aluminum hydrates transformed to $\alpha-Al_2O_3$via $\gamma$- $Al_2O_3$,$\delta$- $Al_2O_3$,and $\theta$-$Al_2O_3$,and particle sizes were grown by increment of heating temperature. The TEX>$\gamma$- $Al_2O_3$ powder was coated on intermediate layer of ceramic membrane by the dip-coating method, and unsupported membrane was also prepared for comparison. The supported layer showed porous structure with small grains, but the unsupported layer revealed interconnected larger grains. Grain growth is dominant in the unsupported layer than in the supported one.
