  • A lot of investigations have been made in recent years on the equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) which produces ultra-fine grains. The finite element method has been used to investigate this issue. In this paper, pure-Zirconium is considered far ECAP process by three dimensional finite element analysis. The effects of fiction on the deformation behavior have been investigated and compared with two dimensional finite element analysis.

  • Photonic crystals, periodic structure with a high refractive index contrast modulation, have recently become very interesting platform for the manipulation of light. The existence of a photonic bandgap, a frequency range in which the propagation of light is prevented in all directions, makes photonic crystal very useful in application where the spatial localization of light is required, for example waveguide, beam splitter, and cavity. However, the fabrication of 3 dimensional photonic crystals is still difficult process. A concept that has recently attracted a lot of attention is a planar photonic crystal based on a dielectric membrane, suspended in the air and perforated with two dimensional lattice of hole. The fabrication of Si master with pillar structure using hot embossing process is investigated for two dimensional, low-index-contrast photonic crystal waveguide. From our research we show that the multiple stamp copy process proved to be feasible and useful.

  • In the present industry, three-dimensional colored shape has required for realistic prototype in rapid manufacturing. Z-corporation developed 3D printer which can color three-dimensional prototype but this process can't be adopted to other rapid prototype products and spend much time and cost coloring 3D shape. In this study a new coloring process on three-dimensional surface is proposed for realistic prototype. Three-dimensional surface coloring apparatus is composed of HP ink jet head and X-Y plotter. Distance and angle between ink jet nozzle and 3D surface are set as process parameter. Based on the experiment of process parameters, it is shown that distance and angle affected on printed image on 3D surface. Circle and line shape are chosen as standard image shape because the shape has widely used as standard in 2D printing. Consequently, the distorted image on 3D surface is corrected by transformed input image data.

  • A critical issue in area-based stereo matching lies in selecting a fixed rectangular window size. Previous stereo methods doesn't deal effectively with occluding boundary due to inevitable window-based problems, and so give inaccurate and noisy matching results in areas with steep disparity variations. In this paper, a variable window approach is presented to estimate accurate, detailed and smooth disparities for three-dimensional structure reconstruction. It makes the smoothing of depth discontinuity reduced by evaluating corresponding correlation values and intensity gradient-based similarity in the three-dimensional disparity space. In addition, it investigates maximum connected match candidate points and then devise the novel arbitrarily shaped variable window representative of a same disparity to treat with disparity variations of various structure shapes. We demonstrate the performance of the proposed variable window method with synthetic images, and show how our results improve on those of closely related techniques for accuracy, robustness, matching density and computing speed.

  • Rapid Prototyping(RP) is an efficient method for rapid design verification and trial manufacturing. In order to improve their unique characteristics according to the working principles. Variable Lamination Manufacturing process and corresponding CAD/CAM system is developed. The objective of this study is to improve dimensional accuracy of VLM-ST process, and it can be done by offset for cutting error correction, cutting path correction for sharp edge and reference shape generation. To verify the proposed algorithms, they applied to three-dimensional shapes, such as spanner and mechanical part.

  • Fabrication of three dimensional microstructures by laser-assisted chemical vapor deposition of material is investigated. To fabricate microstructures, a thin layer of deposit in desired patterns is first written using laser direct writing technique and on top of this layer a second layer is deposited to provide the third dimension normal to the surface. By depositing many layers. a three dimensional microstructure is fabricated. Optimum deposition conditions for direct writing of initial and subsequent layers with good surface quality and profile uniformity are determined. Using an arson ion laser and ethylene as the light source and reaction gas, respectively, fabrication of three-dimensional carbon microstructures is demonstrated.
