In this research, we study the problem of opportunistic spectrum access (OSA) in a time-varying environment with fading channels, where the channel state is characterized by both channel quality and the occupancy of primary users (PUs). First, a finite-state Markov channel model is introduced to represent a fading channel. Second, by probing channel quality and exploring the activities of PUs jointly, a two-dimensional partially observable Markov decision process framework is proposed for OSA. In addition, a greedy strategy is designed, where a secondary user selects a channel that has the best-expected data transmission rate to maximize the instantaneous reward in the current slot. Compared with the optimal strategy that considers future reward, the greedy strategy brings low complexity and relatively ideal performance. Meanwhile, the spectrum sensing error that causes the collision between a PU and a secondary user (SU) is also discussed. Furthermore, we analyze the multiuser situation in which the proposed single-user strategy is adopted by every SU compared with the previous one. By observing the simulation results, the proposed strategy attains a larger throughput than the previous works under various parameter configurations.
The scalable extension of the H.264/AVC video coding standard (SVC) demonstrates superb adaptability in video communications. Joint source and channel coding (JSCC) has been shown to be very effective for such scalable video consisting of parts of different significance. In this paper, a new JSCC scheme for SVC transmission over packet loss channels is proposed which performs two-dimensional optimization on the quality layers of each frame in a rate-distortion (R-D) sense as well as on the temporal hierarchical structure of frames under dependency constraints. To compute the end-to-end R-D points of a frame, a novel reduced trellis algorithm is developed with a significant reduction of complexity from the existing Viterbi-based algorithm. The R-D points of frames are sorted under the hierarchical dependency constraints and optimal JSCC solution is obtained in terms of the best R-D performance. Experimental results show that our scheme outperforms the existing scheme of [13] with average quality gains of 0.26 dB and 0.22 dB for progressive and non-progressive modes respectively.
This paper proposes a three-dimensional (3D) segmentation algorithm for extracting a diagnostic object from ultrasound images by using a LoG operator In the proposed algorithm, 2D cutting planes are first obtained by the equiangular revolution of a cross sectional Plane on a reference axis for a 3D volume data. In each 2D ultrasound image. a region of interest (ROI) box that is included tightly in a diagnostic object of interest is set. Inside the ROI box, a LoG operator, where the value of $\sigma$ is adaptively selected by the distance between reference points and the variance of the 2D image, extracts edges in the 2D image. In Post processing. regions of the edge image are found out by region filling, small regions in the region filled image are removed. and the contour image of the object is obtained by morphological opening finally. a 3D volume of the diagnostic object is rendered from the set of contour images obtained by post-processing. Experimental results for a tumor and gall bladder volume data show that the proposed method yields on average two times reduction in error rate over Krivanek's method when the results obtained manually are used as a reference data.
Flow forming is an eco-friendly and high-efficiency plastic deformation process with fewer chips during a process which is specifically used to manufacture seamless tubular products like tire wheels, rocket motor cases etc. On the development of mortar barrel using Inconel718 tube, some flow formed products had dimensional errors on their thickness. In this study, our purpose is to optimize the process conditions with the smallest dimensional error. In order to find an optimum process condition, 2D axisymmetric FEM simulation analyses with Taguchi method were conducted. Geometric variables (attack angle, flatting angle, roller nose radius) and operating parameters (depth of forming, feed rate) are considered as control factors. Forward flow forming with single roller was first analyzed to determine the effective factors using AFDEX software and attack angle of the roller was identified as the most influential factor. Also, the nose radius of the rollers was confirmed as a significant factor in multi-rollers flow forming system. The effect of rollers offset values are also studied and finally, we proposed optimal conditions to improve the accuracy of flow forming process with Inconel718 tube for mortar barrel manufacturing.

To efficiently use frequency resources, the next 6th generation mobile communication technology must solve the problem of out-of-band emission (OoBE) of cyclic prefix (CP) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), which is not solved in 5th generation technology. This study describes a new zero insertion technique to replace an existing filtering scheme to solve this internal problem in OFDM signals. In the development of the proposed scheme, a precoder with a two-dimensional structure is first designed by generating a two-dimensional mapper and using the specialty of each matrix. A spectral shaping technique based on zero insertion instead of a long filter is proposed, so it can be applied not only to long OFDM symbols, but also very short ones. The proposed method shows that the transmitted signal is completely blocked at the bandwidth boundaries of signals according to the current standards, and it is confirmed that the proposed scheme is ideal with respect to bit error rate (BER) performance because its BER is the same as that of CP-OFDM. In addition, the proposed scheme can transformed into a real time structure through vectorizing process with minimal complexity.
A single vision system limits the ability to accurately understand the spatial constraints and interactions between robots and dynamic workers caused by gantry robots and collaborative robots during production manufacturing. In this paper, we propose a 3D pose registration method for dynamic workers based on a multi-domain vision system for safety monitoring in manufacturing environments. This method uses OpenPose, a deep learning-based posture estimation model, to estimate the worker's dynamic two-dimensional posture in real-time and reconstruct it into three-dimensional coordinates. The 3D coordinates of the reconstructed multi-domain vision system were aligned using the ICP algorithm and then registered to a single 3D coordinate system. The proposed method showed effective performance in a manufacturing process environment with an average registration error of 0.0664 m and an average frame rate of 14.597 per second.
In aerospace and energy engineering, the reconstruction of three-dimensional (3D) temperature distributions is crucial. Traditional methods like algebraic iterative reconstruction and filtered back-projection depend on voxel division for resolution. Our algorithm, blending deep learning with computer graphics rendering, converts 2D projections into light rays for uniform sampling, using a fully connected neural network to depict the 3D temperature field. Although effective in capturing internal details, it demands multiple cameras for varied angle projections, increasing cost and computational needs. We assess the impact of camera number on reconstruction accuracy and efficiency, conducting butane-flame simulations with different camera setups (6 to 18 cameras). The results show improved accuracy with more cameras, with 12 cameras achieving optimal computational efficiency (1.263) and low error rates. Verification experiments with 9, 12, and 15 cameras, using thermocouples, confirm that the 12-camera setup as the best, balancing efficiency and accuracy. This offers a feasible, cost-effective solution for real-world applications like engine testing and environmental monitoring, improving accuracy and resource management in temperature measurement.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the accuracy of master cast fabricated by using different impression methods at the different impression levels. Material and Method: The master model used in this study was resin block having low implant analogs. Impression method studied were 1) direct method on future level (Group FIX-D), 2) Indirect method on fixture level(Group FIX-I), 3) Modified indirect method on fixture level(Group FD(-M), 4) Direct method on abutment level(Group AB-D) and 5) Indirect method on abutment level(Group AB-I). Each of the five groups took 10 impressions. Fifty impressions were made for master cast by using Impregum $F^(R)$ impression material loaded on individual tray. Three dimensional measuring microscope was used to measure the inter-implant distance. Error rate of each inter-implant distance were calculated and evaluated. Results: The results were as follows. 1. Group FIX exhibited higher accuracy than group AB. 2 In group FIX, modified indirect method showed the highest accuracy, while indirect method showed the lowest accuracy. In group Ab, indirect method showed the higher accuracy than direct method. 3. Group FIX showed larger horizontal error than group AB. But, group AB showed the larger vertical error than group FIX. 4. Group Fix-M showed smallest vertical and horizontal error.
In this paper, variable structure control(VSC) based on reaching law method with fuzzy inference for nonlinear systems is proposed. The reaching law means the reaching condition which forces an initial state of system to reach switching surface in finite time, and specifies the dynamics of a desired switching function. Since the conventional reaching law has fixed coefficients, the chattering can be existed largely in sliding mode. In the design of a proposed fuzzy reaching law, we fuzzify RP(representative point)'s orthogonal distance to switching surface and RP's distance the origin of the 2-dimensional space whose coordinates are the error and the error rate. The coefficients of the reaching law are varied appropriately by the fuzzy inference. Hence the state of system in reaching mode reaches fastly switching surface by the large values of reaching coefficients and the chattering is reduced in sliding mode by the small values of those. And the effectiveness of the proposed fuzzy reaching law method is showen by the simulation results of the control of a two link robot manipulator.

A virtual machine tool (VMT) is presented in this two-part paper. In Part 1, the analytical foundation for a virtual machining system is developed, which is envisioned as the foundation for a comprehensive simulation environment capable of predicting the outcome of cutting processes. The VHT system undergoes "pseudo-real machining", before actual cutting with a CNC machine tool takes place, to provide the proper cutting conditions for process planners and to compensate or control the machining process in terms of the productivity and attributes of the products. The attributes can be characterized by the machined surface error, dimensional accuracy, roughness, integrity, and so forth. The main components of the VMT are the cutting process, application, thermal behavior, and feed drive modules. In Part 1, the cutting process module is presented. When verified experimentally, the proposed models gave significantly better prediction results than any other methods. In Part 2 of this paper, the thermal behavior and feed drive modules are developed, and the models are integrated into a comprehensive software environment.vironment.
