  • Owing to varying clinical definitions of anastomotic stricture following esophageal reconstruction, its reported incidence rate varies from 10% to 56%. Strictures adversely impact patients' quality of life. Risk factors, such as the anastomosis method, leakage, ischemia, neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy, and underlying disease have been mentioned, but conflicting information has been reported. Balloon dilation is regarded as a safe and effective treatment method for patients with benign anastomotic strictures. Reoperations are seldom required. The etiology and management of anastomotic strictures are reviewed in this article.

  • Let A be an expansive dilation on ℝn, and p(·) : ℝn → (0, ∞) be a variable exponent function satisfying the globally log-Hölder continuous condition. Let Hp(·)A (ℝn) be the variable anisotropic Hardy space defined via the non-tangential grand maximal function. In this paper, the author obtains the boundedness of anisotropic convolutional -type Calderón-Zygmund operators from Hp(·)A (ℝn) to Lp(·) (ℝn) or from Hp(·)A (ℝn) to itself. In addition, the author also obtains the duality between Hp(·)A (ℝn) and the anisotropic Campanato spaces with variable exponents.

  • In this paper, we give the necessary and sufficient condition for the conformal mapping ϕ : (ℝn, g0) → (Nn, h) (n ≥ 3) to be triharmonic where we prove that the gradient of its dilation is a solution of a fourth-order elliptic partial differential equation. We construct some examples of triharmonic maps which are not biharmonic and we calculate the trace of the stress-energy tensor associated with the triharmonic maps.

  • The scale effect of specimens on the shear behavior of joints is studied by performing direct shear tests on six different sizes in Granite. The peak and residual shear stress, shear displacement, shear stiffness, and dilation angle are measured with the different normal stress(0.29~2.65MPa) and roughness parameters. It is also shown that both the joint roughness coefficient(JRC) and the joint compression strength(JCS) reduce with increasing joint length. A series of shear tests show about 56~67% reduction in peak shear stress, and about 18~44% in residual shear stress, respectively as the contact area of joint increases from 12.25 to $361cm^2$. Also the variation of dilation angle is $27^{\circ}$ at normal stress of 0.29 MPa and $6^{\circ}$ at normal stress of 2.65 MPa, respectively. The envelopes considering scale effect for JRC are made for the peak shear strength of rock joint in comparison with the Barton's equation.

  • The author observed the effects of retrograde infusion of water soluble contrast media (Tele- brix 30) on the rabbit submandibular glands and compared the effects of different degrees of filling. 26 rabbits were divided into 2 groups of 12 each as experimentals and I group of 2 as normal controls. One experimental group was filled with 0.2㎖ and the other with 0.4㎖. Right submandibular gland of each rabbit was infused with contrast media and left one with physiologic saline as a experimental control, at a constant rate of 0.12㎖/min. using an infusion pump via the main excretory duct. Immediately after the infusion of contrast media, oblique lateral radiographs of the glands were made with occlusal film in order to confirm the glandular filling. The rabbits were sacrificed after varying periods (1, 8, 24 hours and 3, 6, 10 days) and the tissues were prepared for light and electron microscopic examination. The results were as follows: 1. In glands filled with 0.2㎖ contrast media, the initial changes were a few vacuole formation in the acini and slight dilation of the intralobular duct. The moderately severe changes such as vacuole formation in the acini, the abnormal substructure within the secretory granule, dilation of acinar and intercalated duct lumen, scalloping of striated duct lumen and inflammatory cell infiltrate were observed at 3 days. The general appearance was successively recovered, so the tissue had a normal appearance at 10 days. 2. In glands filled with 0.4㎖ contrast media, the most prominent alterations such as severe acinar atrophy, decreased number of secretory granules, proliferation of connective tissue stroma and pronounced inflammatory cell infiltrates appeared at 6 days. Although the general appearance returned to be almost normal at 10 days, acinar cells showed some atrophy and decreased secretory granules. 3. In glands subjected to 0.4㎖ infusion, the alterations were more severe and the recovery was slower than those seen in the glands to 0.2㎖ infusion.

  • The influence of the plastic flow rules on the elasto-plastic behaviour of a discrete joint element was investigated by performing the numerical direct shear tests under both constant normal displacement and normal displacement conditions. The finite interface elements obeying Plesha’s joint constitutive law was used to allow the relative motion of the rock blocks on the joint surface. Realistic results were obtained in the tests adopting the non-associated flow rule, while the associated flow rule overestimated the joint dilation. To overcome the computational drawbacks coming from the non-symmetric element stiffness matrix in the conventional non-associated plasticity, the symmetric formulation of the tangential stiffness matrix for a non-associated joint element was proposed. The symmetric elasto-plastic matrix it derived by assuming an imaginary equivalent joint with associated flow rule which shows the same plastic response as that of original Joint with non-associated flow rule. The validity of the formulation was confirmed through the numerical direct shear tests under constant normal stress condition.

  • Cyclic shear test system, which is capable of measuring flow rate inside rock joint, was established to investigate the hydraulic behavior of rough rock joints under various loading conditions. Laboratory hydraulic tests during compression and shear were conducted for artificial rough rock joints. Prior to tests, aperture characteristics of specimens were examined by measuring surface topography. Permeability changes under compression were well approximated with several hydraulic model. Hydraulic behavior conformed to dilation characteristics in the first stage, and permeability increased with increase of dilation. As the shear displacement progressed, flow rate became somewhat constant due to gouge production and offset of apertures. Hydraulic behavior under cyclic shear loading was also influenced by the degradation of asperities and gouge production. In addition. the relation between hydraulic aperture and mechanical aperture under compression and shear loading was investigated and compared.

  • Understanding the frictional properties of rock discontinuities is crucial to ensure the stability of underground structures. In particular, the frictional behavior at depth depends on the complex interaction among mechanical, hydraulic, thermal and chemical characteristics and their coupled effects. In this study, a series of shear tests were carried out in a triaxial compression chamber to investigate the shearing behavior of saw-cut granite surface and rough shear surface of synthetic rocks. The test results were analyzed using Coulomb's shear strength criterion. The frictional behavior of saw-cut granite surface showed little variation at different confining, water pressures and temperature conditions, however in case of synthetic rocks, the frictional behavior showed different trend depending on normal stress level. In addition, the variation of stiffness and dilation at different testing conditions were analyzed, and the stiffness and dilation showed little variation at different water pressures and temperature conditions.

  • Texture analysis is an important technique in many image understanding areas, such as perception of surface, object, shape and depth. But the previous works are intend to the issue of only texture segment, that is not capable of acquiring recognition information. No unsupervised method is basased on the recognition of texture in image. we propose a novel approach for efficient texture image analysis that uses unsupervised learning schemes for the texture recognition. The self-organization neural network for multiple texture image identification is based on block-based clustering and merging. The texture features used are the angle and magnitude in orientation-field that might be different from the sample textures. In order to show the performance of the proposed system, After we have attempted to build a various texture images. The final segmentation is achieved by using efficient edge detection algorithm applying to block-based dilation. The experimental results show that the performance of the system Is very successful.

  • In this paper, the hypercube, hyperpetersen networks, whose degree is increasing in accordance with expansion of number of node and complete binary tree are one-to-one embedded into peterson-torus(PT) network which has fixed degree. The one-to-one embedding has less risk of overload or idle for the processor comparative to one-to-many and many-to-one embedding. For the algorithms which were developed on hypercube or hyperpetersen are used for PT network, it is one-to one embedded at expansion ${\doteqdot}1$, dilation 1.5n+2 and link congestion O(n) not to generate large numbers of idle processor. The complete binary tree is embedded into PT network with link congestion =1, expansion ${\doteqdot}5$ and dilation O(n) to avoid the bottleneck at the wormhole routing system which is not affected by the path length.
