In an effort to explore the effects of Youtube video-watching activities on Korean college students' English reading comprehension skills, 148 undergraduate students who enrolled in a General English class at a university in Korea participated in the present study. Participants were randomly classified into four groups - three experimental groups and one control group - according to when they watch videos: before class (n = 33), during class (n = 42), after class (n = 36), and none (n = 37). Over 16 weeks, the three experimental groups engaged in Youtube video-watching activities for about 10 minutes before, during, and after the class, while the control group did not. Pre- and post-tests were administered to confirm the effects of the use of Youtube videos on improving English reading comprehension skills. To compare the improvement between groups, a one-way ANOVA was also run. Major findings are as follows: First, participants in all the three experimental groups significantly improved their English reading comprehension skills, indicating the beneficial effects of Youtube video-watching activities. However, there was no statistically significant difference in the mean improvement between the groups. Based on this, limitations and suggestions for the future research are discussed at the end.

The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of the use of artificial intelligence chatbots on improving Korean college students' English grammar skills. 70 undergraduate students participated in the present study. They were taking a General English class offered by a university in Korea. There were two groups in this study. Participants in the chatbot group consisted of 36 students while those in the human group were 34. Over 16 weeks, the chatbot group engaged in ten chat sessions with a chatbot while the human group had a chat with a human chat partner. Both pre- and post-tests were performed to examine changes in the participants' grammar skills over time. To compare the improvement between the two groups, an independent t-test was then run. Main findings are as follows: First, participants in both groups significantly improved their English grammar skills, indicating the beneficial effects of engaging in chat. Also, there was a statistically significant difference in the improvement between the chatbot and human groups, indicating the superior effects of the chatbot use. This study confirmed the improved grammar skills by the participants in the chatbot group, comparison with those in the human group. Based on these findings, suggestions for the future chatbot study are discussed.

Background: Mobile applications (apps) on dietary supplements can increase consumers' access to information. However, it can lead to indiscriminate use of dietary supplements. This study aims to systematically review dietary supplement apps released in English and Korean and evaluate the quality of those apps. Methods: Through the app stores, apps on dietary supplements were systemically searched and examined. Two independent evaluators evaluated the apps and presented a mean score using the Mobile App Rating Scale (MARS). The correlation between MARS scores, user and evaluator ratings, and the number of secondary features of the apps were analyzed. Results: Of the 2,772 dietary supplement apps identified, 17 apps were included according to the selection criteria. The mean MARS score was 3.28 (standard deviation: 0.29) out of 5. Apps had higher scores in aesthetics and functionality dimensions, while engagement and information dimensions had lower scores. There was a positive correlation between the number of app downloads and information among MARS dimensions. The subjective evaluation also correlated with the information dimension. There was a positive correlation between the secondary features of the apps and MARS total score as well as the engagement dimension. Conclusion: The dietary supplement apps need to be managed at a higher level of quality to provide safe and reliable information to consumers. Especially, quality on information and engagement dimensions can be improved. Involvement of healthcare professionals in the app development, management with adequate referencing of information, and use of secondary features for enhanced user engagement can be helpful.

Design a sense of u-challenge the skill of the information quality of the tourist information content has the advantage of being able to identify the data formation has the pleasure of tourists. By applying to future national competent standard it is expected to maximize the enjoyment of the job.

최근 스마트 시대에 디지털 컨버젼스(digital convergence)의 대표기기로 대두되고 있는 태블릿 PC는 휴대전화와 컴퓨터의 기능을 바탕으로 장소의 제한 없이 네트워크에 접속할 수 있다. 이는, 개인의 일상생활에서 큰 영향을 미치고 있는 실정이다. 10년 이상 e러닝이 주도해 온 IT교육시장에서 스마트러닝으로의 변화는 새로운 플랫폼을 구축하는 그 이상의 의미를 가진다. 스마트 러닝은 기존의 수직적인 학습방식을 수평적, 참여적, 지능적, 그리고 상호작용적인 방식으로 전환하여 학습의 효과를 높였다. 이러한 트랜드를 반영하여 스마트러닝의 장점을 극대화 시킬 수 있는 학습자 중심의 컨버젼스 러닝시스템(learning system)을 구현하고자 하였다. 또한, 영어의 중요성이 대두되면서 영어 인증시험에 대한 관심이 날로 커지고 있다. 그리하여 바쁜 일상생활 중에서 시간과 장소에 구애 받지 않고 태블릿 PC를 통하여 영어 인증시험을 공부할 수 있는 어플리케이션을 기획하였다. 본 LEMON(Learn English Mobile ON-air) 앱(application)은 영어 학습 시간이 충분하지 않은 대학생 및 직장인 등을 대상으로 TOEIC, TOEFL, TOEIC SPEAKING 영어 인증시험에 대한 학습이 가능하도록 구현하였다.

The purpose of this study was to understand language learning strategies use, language learning beliefs, and listening achievement of Korean EFL learners. The participants was sixty-nine university students who enrolled in blended learning classes for English listening. Data was collected and analyzed to see if there were any differences in strategies and beliefs between students who improved their listening test score and those who did not. The results showed that students showing improvement at the post-test used more language learning strategies and had a high level of motivation. Statistically significant correlation was found between motivation and strategies such as cognitive and meta-cognitive strategies.

This study aims to explore the differential effects of teacher support on Chinese EFL students' listening ability in a blended learning environment. 87 third-year English-major students in a Chinese university participated in this study and they were randomly divided into an autonomy group (n=22), an emotional group (n=22), a cognitive group (n=22) and a control group (n=21). Each experimental group received relevant teacher support during their 17-week course learning while the control group did not. To confirm the effects of teacher support, pre- and post- listening tests were conducted. The results of the paired t-tests demonstrated that all groups showed statistically significant improvement in their English listening ability. The results of the one-way ANOVA for the post-test revealed that autonomy support and cognitive support were more effective than emotional support in improving students' listening ability. Based on the findings, this study hopes to provide insights for EFL teachers in designing and arranging the activities in a blended course.

The purpose of this study was to test whether or not the AI chatbot is effective in acquiring target grammar for Korean EFL college students: prepositions and articles. A quasi-experiment was conducted with 46 first-year students taking part in a required English course. They were randomly divided into two groups: the experimental and control groups (23 students for each, respectively). The experimental group was engaged in six chat sessions with a chatbot over 6 weeks. A pretest and a posttest were used to examine the effectiveness of the chatbot by comparing any changes made in error frequencies of the target grammar in participants' English compositions. The results show that after a conversation with the chatbot, the experimental group significantly reduced the mean of omission errors in both prepositions and articles. To have a great effect in other error categories, chatbot feedback needs to be improved to reduce short responses or inaccurate utterances of students and induce them to actively participate in the conversation.

We aim to reinterpret Bong Joon-ho's Snowpiercer through theory of posthumanism. Posthuman is a compound word of 'post' and 'human', which means transcendent-man. However, we would like to extend the meaning of posthuman or cyborgs as not only to "new human figure, or transcendent-man" but as to "human living in a digital age of converged technology". Through the extension of the meaning of posthuman, we would be able to not only find posthuman in Science Fiction movies but also apply it to our real world. Also, through the extended meaning, we will reinterpret all the elements from the film as cyberspace and as posthuman or cyborgs. Moreover, through examination of these "cyborg figures" in Bong Joon-ho's Snowpiercer (2013), we argue that the film is criticizing posthumanism in the reality that these days, people are losing the humanity due to the combination with the machine. It seems that he claims of the collapse of the current system, suggesting new human generation as the solution.

Today, university students are suffering from various stresses such as individual capacity development, school score management, human relationships, job placement, and English study for preparation as member of society the future. However, stress of students decreases stabilization of mind and aggravate feeling of satisfaction of life. In this research, we examined the relationships among stress, mindfulness and life satisfaction among university students. In addition, we analyzed the moderating effect as university class levels on stress and life satisfaction using partial least squares. This results provide useful implications for decreasing stress, improving mindfulness, and increasing life satisfaction among university students.
