  • WUSB is a new technology which combines the speed and the security of wired USB with the easy use of wireless technology. In this paper, GUI for WUSB is designed and implemented to show the connectivity and contents of the WUSB devices. Also, the proposed GUI shows the log window while content transfers occur between the host and device. The proposed GUI can be used for various wireless technologies which provide wireless function with existing USB hosts and devices.

  • This paper proposes the system and method for converting the contents based on DLNA. Digital Media Controller (DMC) compares the media format of content which Digital Media Server (DMS) provides with the media format which Digital Media Renderer (DMR) supports and then, the content is converted dynamically. The interaction between home devices can make a conversion of contents dynamically and it enables people to enjoy the multimedia contents they like to watch whenever/wherever they want.

  • Nowadays, we can enjoy access to high speed network and advanced services of convergence between broadcasting and communication anywhere and anytime through a ubiquitous computing. So, now digital convergence devices come out constantly. These devices are required faster network environment for high speed data processing than before. In this paper, we describe the design of InfiniBnad network adapter, which is included two FPGA chipsets. When this adapter is installed to Digital Convergence Platform (DCP) network performance will be improved. The adapter includes 12channel serial ports for external communication and internally, uses PCI-Express bus. We have finished the test of high speed serial based network adapter through composing complete InfiniBand network and applied fabric management software. So, we have verified that it can be applied on DCP environment.

  • As the situations that important evidences or clues are found in digital information devices increase, digital forensic technology is widely applied. In this paper, forensic based audit system is implemented by associating forensic analysis system with agent system which monitors and collects data for analysis in storage devices over distributed network nodes. Forensic audit system implemented in this paper can prevent, audit and trace the computer related crimes in IT infrastructure by real time monitoring and evidence seizure.

Development of Hybrid Induction Heating System for Laser Printer

  • Recently, the demand for the development of high quality and high-speed laser printers and efficient power utilization has required. Among complicated electro-mechanic devices in laser printers, the toner-fusing unit consumes above 90[%] of all electrical energy needed for printing devices. Therefore, the development of a more effective energy-saving toner fusing process becomes a significant task in great demand. Generally, there are several ways to implement a fusing unit. Among them this paper presents a new induction heating method. The proposed induction heating method enables the increase of coupling coefficient between heating coil and heat roller which also increases total energy transfer efficiency. Therefore, the proposed IH (Induction Heating) inverter system provides very fast W.U.T. (Warm UP Time) as well as higher efficiency. Through experimental results, the proposed control system is verified.

Development of a Digital Literacy Scale for College Students and Comparative Analysis Based on Learner Variables (대학생의 디지털 리터러시 역량 진단 도구 개발 및 학습자 변인에 따른 영향력 분석)

  • This study aims to develop and validate a diagnostic tool capable of objectively measuring the digital literacy competencies of college students and also to analyze how learners' personal characteristics and perceptions are related to these competencies. Through literature review and surveys, a diagnostic tool comprising 6 major factors and 38 items was developed. The findings of the relationships between digital literacy and learners' personal characteristics and perceptions revealed that personal characteristics such as gender, age, education level, and college affiliation as well as grades did not significantly affect on digital literacy competencies. However, learners' perceptions towards satisfaction with major, overall academic satisfaction, ability to utilize digital devices for learning, usefulness of digital devices for learning, and frequency of digital device use for learning positively impacted digital literacy competencies. Based on the results, implications are suggested to facilitate self-regulation, participation, utilization, and evaluation competencies in digital literacy.

A Study on the Utilization of Information and Communication Assistive Devices for Bridging the Digital Divide of the Disabled (장애인 정보격차 해소를 위한 정보통신 보조기기 활용방안 연구)

  • The purposes of this study are to investigate and analyze the level of information and the state of digital divide of the disabled by surveying the demand for information and communication assistive devices, and to provide basic data for plans on the development and utilization of information and communication assistive devices. In order to understand the actual condition and the state of digital divide of persons with disabilities, the differences of possession and accessibility of information technology devices, usage ability, and utilization were analyzed according to the disability profile by using the T-test. The results show that there are significant differences (T=-2.510*) of possession and accessibility of information technology devices with respect to the disability profile, and that the disabled have lower possession and accessibility of devices than the non-disabled. Result of this study's demand forecast shows that about 28% of total respondents are currently using information and communication assistive devices, and a majority (67%) of them answered that the use of assistive devices lend great help to their lives. The proportion of those who have been supported by the government or related organizations with information and communication assistive devices were 36% of the total respondents, and those satisfied with the performance of the devices were 46% of the total responses. Meanwhile, only 36% of total users answered that the operation and use of functions of the devices was easy and convenient, responding that the difficulty of operating assistive devices was the greatest inconvenience. Moreover, the general requests of respondents in regards to the devices were stabilization of device performance, miniaturization of size, simplification of buttons, and reduction of weight.

Selecting a Mobile Device Using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP를 이용한 모바일 기기 선정)

  • A mobile device is a handheld device, typically having a display screen with touch input and/or a miniature keyboard and accessible to the Internet. Because mobile devices are innovative and rapidly changing products, consumers are confronted with a decision-making problem to select the best device. This paper proposes an Analytic Hierarchy Process method to assess mobile devices and shows a method to select best mobile devices when purchasing. For this paper, the mobile devices considered as in the AHP model included net-book, tablet PC, smart phone, and camera phone. We derived 6 main criteria and 15 sub-criteria to synthesize the overall priority of criteria and mobile devices. The criterion of convenience in carrying showed the highest rank in the criteria. Although smart phones had the highest priority, the four mobile devices did not show significant differences in consumer preference.

Intrusion Artifact Acquisition Method based on IoT Botnet Malware (IoT 봇넷 악성코드 기반 침해사고 흔적 수집 방법)

  • With the rapid increase in the use of IoT and mobile devices, cyber criminals targeting IoT devices are also on the rise. Among IoT devices, when using a wireless access point (AP), problems such as packets being exposed to the outside due to their own security vulnerabilities or easily infected with malicious codes such as bots, causing DDoS attack traffic, are being discovered. Therefore, in this study, in order to actively respond to cyber attacks targeting IoT devices that are rapidly increasing in recent years, we proposed a method to collect traces of intrusion incidents artifacts from IoT devices, and to improve the validity of intrusion analysis data. Specifically, we presented a method to acquire and analyze digital forensics artifacts in the compromised system after identifying the causes of vulnerabilities by reproducing the behavior of the sample IoT malware. Accordingly, it is expected that it will be possible to establish a system that can efficiently detect intrusion incidents on targeting large-scale IoT devices.

A Study on Color Management of Input and Output Device in Electronic Publishing (II) (전자출판에서 입.출력 장치의 컬러 관리에 관한 연구 (II))

  • The input and output device requires precise color representation and CMS (Color Management System) because of the increasing number of ways to apply the digital image into electronic publishing. However, there are slight differences in the device dependent color signal among the input and output devices. Also, because of the non-linear conversion of the input signal value to the output signal value, there are color differences between the original copy and the output copy. It seems necessary for device-dependent color information values to change into device-independent color information values. When creating an original copy through electronic publishing, there should be color management with the input and output devices. From the devices' three phases of calibration, characterization and color conversion, the device-dependent color should undergo a color transformation into a device-independent color. In this paper, an experiment was done where the input device used the linear multiple regression and the sRGB color space to perform a color transformation. The output device used the GOG, GOGO and sRGB for the color transformation. After undergoing a color transformation in the input and output devices, the best results were created when the original target underwent a color transformation by the scanner and digital camera input device by the linear multiple regression, and the LCD output device underwent a color transformation by the GOG model.
