  • In this paper, we propose an efficient SA(simulated annealing) algorithm for the synthesis of binary phase computer generated hologram. SA algorithm is a method to find the optimal solution through iterative technique. It is important that selecting cost function and parameters within this algorithm. The aplications of converentional SA algorithm to synthesize parameters within this algorithm. The applications of conventional SA algorithm to synthesize binary hologram have many problems because of inappropriate paramters and cost function. So, we propose a new cost function and a calculation technique of proper parameters required to achieve the optimal solution. Computer simulation results show that the proposed method is better than conventional method in terms of diffraction efficiency and reconstruction error. Also, we show the reconstructed images by the proposed method through optical esperiment.

  • The length and the breadth or a very large floating airport are determined by airplane types and airport facilities. However, the depth affect not only the structural strength but also the functional requirement such as a possibility of taking off and landing. The optimization problem for determining the depth is to select a design so that the cost is minimized. In this paper, a general arrangement and a method to decide the depth are proposed. Strength, functional requirement, and possibility of occurrence of deck wetness and slamming are considered in order to determine the depth of structure. Hydrodynamic forces of the diffraction and radiatin problems are predicted by applying the source-dipole distribution method, and the structural responses are obtained by the finite element method.

  • Electromagnetic interference (EMI) is defined as the interaction phenomena of electromagnetic waves scattered from a large structure or complex terrain. In this study, the propagation of linear wave is modeled with ray theory, direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC), and some classical theories on flat plates. The wave physics of reflection, refraction, and diffraction are simulated for the investigation of front and back scattering of the one-dimensional plane wave from a tower with ray theory and DSMC, respectively. The effect of rotating disk idealized from the real wind-turbine blades is modeled with a simplified version of the classical electromagnetic theory as well as DSMC based on the ray theory.

  • Bulk metallic glasses(BMG) with good mechanical properties have problems that engineering application fields have been limited because of limitation of the alloy size. In order to solving this problem, the friction welding of BMG has been tried using the superplastic-like deformation behavior under the supercooled liquid region. The apparatus for friction welding test was designed and constructed using pneumatic cylinder and gripper based on a conventional lathe. Friction welding have been tried to combination of same BMG alloy and crystalline alloys. The results of welding test were evaluated by X-ray diffraction, measurement of hardness and mechanical properties test. In order to obtain the optimized welding test conditions the temperature of friction interface was measured using Infrared thermal imager.

  • Beach evolution is of the most important problem is the coastal engineering. Especially, the structure construction through reclamation in the shallow water region nesar the beach will cause many severe problems around the structure. Beach evolution due to the construction of an artificial island in this study was studied using wave transform model and associated of an artificial island in this study was studied using wave transform model and associated sediment transport model. Numerical simulation of the model was applied to the Kwangan beach using the data of waves and shoreline of the area. The combined wave transform model and beach evolution model showed good results. The results show a breakwater will be needed to prevent severe erosion near the eastward Kwangan beach when construction an artificial island in the Suyong Bay. Good results of the study also suggest that the present model can be more widely applied to the prediction of beach evolution.

  • Installing floating structures in a coastal area requires careful observation of the finite-depth effect. In this paper, a Rankine panel method that includes the finite-depth effect is developed in the time domain. The bottom boundary condition is satisfied by directly distributing Rankine panels on the bottom surface. A stepwise analysis is performed for the radiation diffraction problems and consequently freely-floating motion responses over different water depths. The hydrodynamic properties of two test hulls, a Series 60 and a floating barge, are compared to the results from another computation program for validation purposes. The results for both hulls change remarkably as the water depth becomes shallower. The important features of the results are addressed and the effects of a finite depth are discussed.

  • In this work the results of the systematic investigations on the effect of organic addition by using polymer compound as starting materials on the superconducting properties of YBCO electrophoretic deposited films on silver substrate are presented. The characteristics of the films were examined by X-ray diffraction and SEM observation. Our results show that the adhesion and microstructure of these films are sensitive to the nature of polymer compounds and sintering conditions (electrophoretic deposition, drying and heat-treatment procedures). To develop optimum microstructures for samples processed in this manner it is necessary to have an understanding of how these processes affect the microstructure and hence the properties of ceramic superconductors.

  • At the paper the method of 3D holographic moving image reconstruction is discused. The main idea of this method is based on the substitution of optically created static hologram by equal diffraction array created by acoustical (AO) field which formed by bulk sound waves. Such sound field can be considered as dynamic optical hologram, which is electrically controlled. At the certain moment of time when the whole hologram already formed, the reference optical beam illuminates it, and due to acoustooptical interaction the original optical image is reconstructed. As the acoustically created dynamic optical hologram is electronically controlled, it can be used for moving 3-dimentional scene reconstruction in real time. The architecture of holographic display for moving scene reconstruction is presented at this paper. The calculated variant of such display laboratory model is. given and discussed. The mathematical simulation of step by step images recording and reconstruction is given. The pictures of calculated reconstructed images are presented. The prospects, application areas, shortcomings and main problems are discussed.

  • Geological events which are undetected by the surface geophysical or geological survey phase can cause many problems, especially when the tunnel is excavated by TBM. To detect the geological events ahead of tunnel face, a seismic method applied from VSP method is used. Generally uniaxial geophone has been used in surface seismic survey. But this time, triaxial geophone is used to reduce the noise of tunnel wave. DME(Dip moveout Enhancement) filter and diffraction stack method are used. Applying these techniques to the road tunnel in construction, it is proved that the geological events ahead of tunnel face is fairly well predicted. From the seismic trace, Vp and Vs which are related to the rock property can be also obtained. Rock property and proper support design can be dedced from these parameters.

  • A study on the synthesis of zeolite from bituminous coal ESP fly ash as a raw material, which was emitted from the power plant, was carried out to reduce environmental problems and reuse of the industrial wastes. Bituminous coal fly ash was used as the source of silica and alumina. Zeolite was synthesized by hydrothermal reaction in aqueous NaOH solution with sodium aluminate as additive. The objective of this study is to elucidate the effect of several experimental variables on the synthesis of zeolite. The effects of preroasting temperature, mixing speed, leaching alkalinity, and molar ratio of Na$_{2}$O/SiO$_{2}$ and SiO$_{2}$/Al$_{2}$O of the products were investigated. The synthesized zeolite was proved to be NaA, which is known as 4A type, by comparing with SEM images, and X-ray diffraction analysis. And also we know that the transformation of zeolite A take places into other types of zeolites, i.e. Hydroxysodalite, zeolite P, with the variation of leaching alkalinity.
