We study on the significance and application of the whole body form diagnosis. The results were as follows; The general form diagnosis is the method to observe the individual physiology and pathology. The phase of thinking, the current and activity of KI, the pattern of general form diagnosis have organic relations with the symptoms. The general form diagnosis is made up the principle of the imaging phase, therefore it must make synthetic union the differentiation of syndromes. The general form diagnosis of NAE GYEONG shows the typical phases and it is divided with the sight of YIN YANG and Five-Element. The general form diagnosis of SEOP GAE is practiced the theory of constitution's demonstration before the understanding of symptoms. Then JANG NAM tried the type of constitution's demonstration. The general form diagnosis of DONG MU becomes the diagnostic root of constitution's demonstration in four type constitution theory.

Objectives : Assuming that the characteristic of meridian system has been similar to this of electric potentials in human body and that measurements of electric potential at well(井穴) and sea(合穴) points in branches of the twelves meridians will be representative of measurements of the twelve meridians, to measure the electric potentials in twenty aged(TAG) and fifty aged(FAG) healthy volunteers groups when they were sleeping or awakening respectively, to do significance test for electric potential of meridian system among circadian rhythms(CR) and Sasang constitutions(SC). Methods : We selected who thirty healthy volunteers were diagnosed by a blood test, urine examination and differentiation of syndromes by five viscera among volunteers. When they were sleeping, their electric potentials of well and sea points in branches of the twelve meridians were simultaneously measured by physiograph. After a minute we measured them again, totally 5 times. And then when they were awakening, their electric potentials were measured 5 times by the above method. Results : Measurements were analyzed by statistical ANOVA test, we obtained that some of the electric potentials of TAG at sleeping significantly varied with CR, SC, and at awakening some of the electric potentials of FAG also significantly did with CR, SC.

Objective: The main symptoms of the Wallenberg's syndrome are ataxia of gait, clumsiness of ipsilateral limbs, nausea and vomiting, vertigo, visual disturbance such as difficulty in focusing blurred vision diplopia, numbness, dysphagia, hoarseness, hiccup, nystagmus, Homer's syndrome. The purpose of this paper is to report the patient with the Wallenberg's syndrome who was improved by oriental medical treatment. Methods: In terms of exuberance of Yang(vital function) of the liver and stagnation of the liver Ki(energy), we let the patient take Chunghunhwadam-Tang, Hwangryeonhaedok-Tang and Dangkwihwalhyeol-Tang, at the same time, treated with acupuncture, Sa-Am and Dong-Si acupuncture therapy twice a day. Results: We could know that symptoms of the Wallenberg's Syndrome were improved after observing left sensory paralysis was almost recovered, hiccup was completely healed and vertigo was reduced to 1/10. Conclusions: We confirmed that oriental drugs and acupuncture by differentiation of syndromes make the patient with the Wallenberg's Syndrome reduce and improve symptoms he has.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the Sasang constitution and body composition of the two groups devided by chest PA. Method : This study was carried out on 60 students of Semyung University. The students were selected according to the aspect ratio of rt. lung from chest PA. They were divided into two groups(length group and width group) and administered QSCCII & body composition analysis. Result : The 30 students of the length group were classified as Soumin(15), Soyangin(9), and Taeumin(6). The 30 students of the width group were classified as Taeumin(20), Soyangin(9), and Soumin(1). In the width group, weight, total body water, amount of total body fat, muscles, viceral fat area(VFA), waist hip ratio(WHR), were significantly higher than in the length group. Conclusion : There were significant relationships between the shape of lung and constitution and body composition. These findings indicate that actual organ condition could be expressed in body shape.

We extended to find out the effect of serveral kinds of herbal medicion that administated to the patient suffer from iron deficiency anemia, that was prescribed according to differentiation of syndromes. Iron deficiency anemia is generlly differentiated as defiency of Ki and blood, hypofunction of the spleen and stomach, and insufficiency of the spleen and kidney in orinetal medicine. This patient was differentiated as defiency of Ki and blood. hypofunction of the spleen and stomach. So we prescribed Hyangsayangwi-tang, Ickibohyoul-tang and Ickibohyoul-tang ga Antler for the patient in turn. When administated Hyangsayangwi-tang and Ickibohyoul-tang, there was a little improvement in symptom but no improvement in hemonalysis. When administrated Ickibohyoul-tang ga Antler there was dominent improvement in both of symptom and hemonalysis. From this case. it is thought that added Antler-tonifying recipe is very effective to iron deficiency anemia and that more studies and examinations are needed in futher.

Methods : We Selected Who HG Were Diagnosed by a Blood Test, Urine Examination and Differentiation of Syndromes by Five Viscera among Volunteers, CG by CT and Wind-Syndrome Caused by Hyperactivity of the Liver-Yang, AG by EKG, CT, and Deficiency or the Heart Blood, IG by X-ray or CT and Pain in Waist, and JG by X-ray and Knee Pain. Their Electric Potential of Well and Sea Points in the Meridians Were Measured by hysiograph. Results and Conclusions : Measurements Were Analyzed by Factor Analysis, Analysis of Variance, and Logistic Regression Model, We Obtained That Most of the Results, In Conclusion, Hold Good for the Classical Meridian Doctrine.

The cough is generally known as a symptom occurred from Lung. But it was descriptive of the symptom every internal organs can cause in "HwangjenaegyeongSomun Haelon". The reason is that, when a pathogenic Gi attack human body, the body skin which have the relationship to Lung is attacked firstly. But the internal organs preside over each seasons of the year, so the season's presiding organ is ultimately attacked. And in "Somun Haelon" the partner symptoms of five solid organs cough and six hollow organs cough are being described, so we can distinguish between each internal organs coughs. Clinically, the cough is most common symptom and one of the most difficult symptom. In my opinion, the origin organ of cough is very various, but the doctor fix their thinking to the Lung, so the cough became a most difficult symptom. This thesis describe pathogenesis and partner symptoms of five solid organs cough and six hollow organs cough. And illustrate clinical examples and some medical prescriptions. Intend to show that various treatment after differentiation of syndromes[辨證施治] surely needed for effective curing of a cough.

Clinical symptoms of herpes zoster include red rash, burning pain, tingling or extreme sensitivity in the affected area, usually limited to one side of the body. There might be a fever or a headache. The pain of acute herpes zoster may be severe, but it is usually temporary. Some of old patients are likely to develop postherpetic neuralgia. We treated a 73 year-old male patient who had severe pain and a headache after acute herpes zoster. In the point of Differentiation of Syndromes(辯證), this subject was diasgnosed as wind-heat syndrome(風熱證) and was administered Bangpungtongsung-san. For the purpose of making the pain easier, we used the western medication as well. After six days of treatment, pain and the other symptoms improved. Besides postherpetic neuralgia dissipated. Based on this experience, both oriental medicine and western medicine have a good effect on acute herpes zoster.

Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is a degenerative disease characterized by the selective frontal and temporal lobe atrophy, and progressive deficits in behavior, executive function, or language. The prevalence and incidence of FTD are 15-22/100000 and 2.7-4.1/100000, respectively, in midlife. Hereditary is an important risk factor for FTD. Although there is some controversy regarding the further syndromatic subdivision of the different types of FTD, FTD is clinically classified into behavioral variant of frontotemporal dementia, semantic dementia and progressive nonfluent aphasia. FTD can be misdiagnosed as many psychiatric disorders because of similarity of the prominent behavioral features. Advances in clinical, imaging, and molecular characterization have increased the accuracy of FTD diagnosis, thus developing for the accurate differentiation of these syndromes from psychiatric disorders. We also discuss about therapeutic strategies for symptom management of FTD. Medications such as serotonin reuptake inhibitors, antipsychotics, and other novel treatments have been used in FTD with various rates of success. Further advanced research should be directed at understanding and developing new diagnostic and therapeutic modalities to improve the FTD patients' prognosis and quality of life.

Among the ancient ideas of East Asia, there is a myth about the symbol of the Four Gods who commands all directions in the east, south, west, and north, and this is also reflected in the medical field. However, although there is discussion about Qinglong Decoction (青龍湯), Baihu Decoction (白虎湯) and Xuanwu Decoction (玄武湯) in the 『Shanghan Lun (傷寒論)』, there is no content focusing on Zhuniao decoction (朱鳥湯). Considering the consistent perspective of 『Shanghan Lun』, which recognizes the disease-syndrome and seeks prescriptions based on yin and yang thinking, this is very unusual. Therefore, in this study, it was revealed that the concept of 'Sishen Decoction (四神湯)' itself was a concept that emerged when the authors of 『Shanghan Lun』 established the 'eight-principles syndrome differentiation (八綱辨證)' system in their recognition and response to diseases-syndromes. Based on this, I considered the following possibilities: They were able to present Qinglong decoction, Baihu Decoction and Xuanwu decoction, as appropriate prescriptions for 'exterior cold excess syndrome (表寒實證)', 'interior heat deficiency syndrome (裏熱虛證)', and 'interior cold deficiency syndrome (裏熱實證)'. However, it is possible that the name of the prescription 'Zhuniao decoction' was not intentionally used, because it was not possible to provide an appropriate prescription for 'exterior cold excess syndrome (表熱實證)'.
