Purpose Although companies occupied the network market take the advantageous position first and can be successful in securing users over a certain size, it is important to satisfy the customers' demand and prevent the outflow of users toward a new alternative SNS. What is more, there are frequent changes in the flow of users toward new SNSs. Despite these dynamic market circumstances, there is a lack of research to explain the switching behaviors of SNS users. Design/methodology/approach The objective of this study is to explain and verify a specified migration theory(Push-Pull-Mooring model) focused on SNS fatigue in the psychological point of view, as well as reviewing previous studies on functional and technical characteristics of SNSs themselves. Moreover, this study tried to highlight factors affecting users actual SNS switch rather than their switching intention. Findings According to the statistical analysis, the most influenced pull factor to switch SNS was the alternative attractiveness. On the other hand, undesired relationship burden, service innovation and important mooring factors to prevent users' SNS switch. This study has a significant contribution to the theory, which analyzed users' actual SNS switch, and examined SNS users' psychological factors(SNS fatigue), reviewing the characteristics of existing services. To secure more users and to keep them, companies providing social network service need to develop differentiated strategies by analyzing psychological characteristics of various users.

We investigate the end-to-end delay bounds in large scale networks with Differentiated services (DiffServ) architecture. It is generally understood that networks with DiffServ architectures, where packets are treated according to the class they belong, can guarantee the end-to-end delay for packets of the highest priority class, only in lightly utilized cases. We focus on tree networks, which are defined to be acyclic connected graphs. We obtain a closed formula for delay bounds for such networks. We show that, in tree networks, the delay bounds exist regardless of the level of network utilization. These bounds are quadratically proportional to the maximum hop counts in heavily utilized networks; and are linearly proportional to the maximum hop counts in lightly utilized networks. Considering that tree networks, especially the Ethernet networks are being accepted more and more for access networks as well as provider networks, we argue that based on these delay bounds DiffServ architecture is able to support real time applications even for a large network. Throughout the paper we use Latency-Rate (LR) server model, with which it has proven that FIFO and Strict Priority are LR servers to each flows in certain conditions.

This paper discusses a testbed architecture for implementing scalable service differentiation in the Internet. The differentiated services (DiffServ) testbed architecture is based on a model in which a bandwidth broker (BB) can control network resources, and the ALTQ can reserve resources in a router to guarantee a Quality of Service (QoS) for incoming traffic to the testbed. The reservation and releasemessage for the ALTQ is contingent upon a decision message in the BE. The BB has all the information in advance, which is required for a decision message, in the form of PIB. A signaling protocol between the BB and the routers is the COPS protocol proposed at the IETF. In terms of service differentiation, a user should make an SLA in advance, and reserve required bandwidth through an RAR procedure. The SLA and RAR message between a user and the BB has implemented with the COPS extension which was used between a router and the BB. We evaluates the service differentiation for the video streaming in that the EF class traffic shows superb performance than the BE class traffic where is a network congestion. We also present the differentiated service showing a better packet receiving rate, low packet loss, and low delay for the EF class video service.
Since multimedia data takes large part of realtime transmission in wireless communication environments such as IEEE 802.11, QoS issues became one of the important problems with network performance. 802.11e MAC provides differentiated services based on priority schemes to solve existing 802.11 MAC problems. The TXOP is an important factor with the priority to improve network performance and QoS because it defines the time duration in which multiple frames can be transferred at one time for each station. In this paper, therefore frame sizes, TXOP Limit, and Priority values in accordance with the number of stations are experimented and derived for best network performance and QoS. Using 802.11e standard parameters, simulation results show the best throughput when the number of stations is 5 and TXOP Limit value is 6.016ms. For fairness, the best result is achieved at 3.008ms of TXOP Limit value and 15-31 of CW(Contention Window) that is lower priority than CW 7-15.
Priority-based network service has been widely adopted for the Internet traffic management in the context of IETF differentiated services, and computing optimal prices for such priority-based service is the key topic in many pricing literature. While the equilibrium analysis has been commonly used to this end, many have criticized the validity of the underlying assumption of equilibrium analysis that user utility functions are precisely known. In this paper, we propose a solution for bridging the gap between the existing theoretical work on optimal pricing and the unavailability of precise user utility information in real networks. In the proposed method, the service provider obtains more and more accurate estimates of user utility functions from the initial imprecise knowledge by iteratively changing the price of service levels and observing the users' decisions under the changed price. Our contribution is two-fold. First, we have developed a general principle for estimating the user utility functions. Second, we have developed a novel method for setting the prices that can optimize the extraction of the knowledge about user utility functions. The extensive simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of our method.

We consider differentiated bandwidth allocation for a piconet in short-range wireless personal network systems : Bluetooth. Since bandwidth requirements nay vary among applications/services, and/or it may change over time, it is important to decide how to allocate limited resources to various service classes to meet their service requirements. We propose a simple and efficient bandwidth allocation mechanism which meets bandwidth requirements of various service types while saving power consumption by a Power saying mode, i.e., sniff node. We compare our proposed mechanism with a conventional (weighted) round-robin polling scheme and show that it achieves significant improvement of hroughput, delay, and power consumption.
In this paper, an algorithm that provides absolute and proportional differentiation of packet delays is proposed with the objective of enhancing quality of service in future packet networks. It features an adaptive scheme that adjusts the target delay for every time slot to compensate the deviation from the target delay, which is caused by prediction error on the traffic to arrive at the next time slot. It predicts the traffic to arrive at the beginning of a time slot and measures the actual arrived traffic at the end of the time slot. The difference between them is utilized by the delay control operation for the next time slot to offset it. Because the proposed algorithm compensates the prediction error continuously, it shows superior adaptability to bursty traffic and exponential traffic. Through simulations we demonstrate that the algorithm meets the quantitative delay bounds and is robust to traffic fluctuation in comparison with the conventional non-adaptive mechanism. The algorithm is implemented with VHDL on a Xilinx Spartan XC3S1500 FPGA, and the performance is verified under the test board based on the XPC860P CPU.

As the smartphone market becomes saturated, an innovative device equipped with new features is expected to appear soon in mobile communications. In particular, various possibilities were raised regarding the alternative technologies that can develop post-smartphones, which are differentiated from the current smartphones, as Korea commercialized the 5G infrastructure for the first time in the world. Under these circumstances, the Korean government announced the "5G+ Strategy for Realizing Innovative Growth" in April 2019, vowing to build an innovative industrial ecosystem quickly while creating various convergence services based on the 5G infrastructure. As described above, the policy importance of the alternative technologies that will develop post-smartphones is increasing, but the theoretical study on the technology evolution of post-smartphones has not been systematically conducted until now. This study reviewed the alternative technologies that can develop post-smartphones through documentary research, and data mining analysis was performed on the research result using actual data. The policy priority was also set quantitatively for the alternative technologies of post-smartphones in order to determine the alternative post-smartphone technology that the government should focus on given the constraint of limited resources. As a results, autonomous vehicle(43.68%) was found to be most important, followed by artificial intelligence(17.4%) and Internet of Things(13.1%), among alternative technologies that could develop into the post-smartphone.
Round robin scheduling discipline, which is a sort of frame-based scheduling, is quite simple and straightforward for handling multiple queues, and by putting a different weight on each queue, a network can offer differentiated services such as different bandwidth, or delay bound. The most typical algorithm among this disciplines is the weighted round robin(WRR). Also, WRR algorithm can be implemented efficiently by dynamic binary scheduling wheel(DBSW) architecture. This paper performs the analysis of the DBSW architecture and compares the results with simulation results. The analysis data and simulation data show that the DBSW structure decreases average buffer length because it is capable of maintaining the allocated weight of each VC correctly.
