  • Quality has long been considered as an important factor in creating competitive advantage, and researches on quality have not been limited to off-line products but actively extended to e-services and information goods. However, given the nature of multi-dimensional aspect of quality, the systematic study on the quality of online service is still in its early stage. Especially, studies on the quality of ASP services have been rare in academic and professional journals despite the growth of ASP industry in its size and the rapid expansion in the range of application. In this paper we clarified the multi-dimensional quality aspects of the ASP service using a Garvin's framework (1984) which encompasses the service aspects of Products, and developed a measurement model for ASP service qualify. Then we empirically tested the effects of ASP service quality on user satisfaction and perceived firm performance using the data from 240 Korean small firms with less than 50 employees that had experienced the ASP service. Our results show that there are positive relationships among ASP service quality and personal performance, user satisfaction and perceived firm performance, and that product and service-related aspects of ASP service exert differential effects on performance measures so that the product-related aspects of the ASP service such as performance, features, reliability and conformance are considered to be more important in evaluating benefits from ASP services. Contrary to the approaches In literature where only the quality of online services is evaluated, our results emphasize the importance of differentiating Product and service-related aspects of ASP service and provide a basis for more comprehensive evaluation of ASP service quality.

  • The speed and magnitude of mobile phone adoption is a recent worldwide phenomenon akin to those of the television in the middle of the 20th century and the Internet in the late 20th century. During the 2000s, mobile phone adoption was exploded and subscriptions reached 3 billion around the globe. Korea and Japan have been ahead of the rest of the world in introducing new handset and service capabilities. They were the first markets to launch 3G services and are currently the only markets to have achieved mainstream adoption of 3G with over one-third of customers in both markets subscribing to 3G services. The purpose of this article is to explore the cultural similarities and differences associated with mobile mail by presenting findings from a cross-cultural comparison of perceptions and uses of the technology. The results of the study are as follows:Of the characteristics that make up the mobile text-messaging service in Korea, a person's perceived ease of use and perceived enjoyment was found to have a positive effect on use attitude. Among the characteristics that make up a person's perceived ease of use, perceived enjoyment was found to have a positive effect on use intention. And use attitude was found to have positive effects on use intention. • Objectives: Due to the economic crisis and globalization, many workers have been suffering from severe occupational stress due to job insecurity and struggles related to downsizing and restructuring. This study aims to assess the stress levels among workers involved in fierce labor disputes and massive layoffs and to evaluate their specific needs and satisfaction with counseling services set up to help workers cope with severely stressful situations? Methods: The authors provided crisis intervention to workers in traumatic situations to compare the differential level of stress responses and needs among the workers remaining employed in a large auto factory, those laid off by it, and those laid off by other companies in the same region (Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province). We measured stress levels using the worker's stress response inventory (WSRI) and heart rate variability (HRV), and assessed workers' satisfaction with the counseling services. Results: 502 workers participated in the program. Fifty-seven percent of them consulted with occupational problems. The mean WSRI score of the workers remaining employed in the automobile factory was higher than that of the unemployed (employed: $39.8{\pm}19.9$ unemployed: $29.3{\pm}18.8$). Ninety-five percent of workers responded that they were satisfied or very satisfied with the counseling services. Conclusions: This study suggests the urgent need for the establishment of a national crisis intervention program dedicated to supporting workers in severely stressful situations.

  • Thermal conformational changes of human serum albumin (HSA) in phosphate buffer, 10 mM at pH = 7 are investigated using differential scanning calorimetric (DSC), circular dichroism (CD) and UV spectroscopic methods. The results indicate that temperature increment from $25^{\circ}C$ to $55^{\circ}C$ induces reversible conformational changes in the structure of HSA. Conformational change of HSA are shown to be a three-step process. Interestingly, melting temperature of the last domain is equal to the maximum value of fever in pathological conditions, i.e. $42^{\circ}C$. These conformational alterations are accompanied by a mild alteration of secondary structures. Study of HSA-SDS (sodium dodecyl sulphate) interaction at $45^{\circ}C$ and $35^{\circ}C$ reveals that SDS affects the HSA structure at least in three steps: the first two steps result in more stabilization and compactness of HSA structure, while the last one induces the unfolding of HSA. Since HSA has a more affinity for SDS at $45^{\circ}C$ compared to $35^{\circ}C$, It is suggested that the net negative charge of HSA is decreased in fever, which results in the decrease of HSA-associated cations and plasma osmolarity, and consequently, heat removal via the increase in urine volume.

  • The purpose of this study is to measure self images of public librarians who should increasingly take charge of services for children and young people through the semantic differential method and analyze its' general characteristics. According to the results of analysis public librarians have been satisfied with their works and believed that they are kind, fair and gentle. One the other hand, they have had negative self images such as no influence, neglect, poor and stuffiness. Therefore, the result show that public librarians consider their ability, quality and activity as positive images, but they have felt lack of the social consensus and affirmative evaluation of their role. So, we can see building a good physical environment and running great programs to create access of children and young people to the public libraries, demonstrating leadership among senior librarians are so important in order to beat the stereotype and improve their positive self images of their evaluation and role. It is also necessary to promote the new value and role of public libraries and librarianship and to enable retraining for cultivating their qualities as a teacher.

  • In theses days, data has been explosively generated in diverse industrial areas. Accordingly, many industries want to collect and analyze these data to improve their products or services. However, collecting user data can lead to significant personal information leakage. Local differential privacy (LDP) proposed by Google is the state-of-the-art approach that is used to protect individual privacy in the process of data collection. LDP guarantees that the privacy of the user is protected by perturbing the original data at the user's side, but a data collector is still able to obtain population statistics from collected user data. However, the prevention of leakage of personal information through such data perturbation mechanism may cause the significant reduction in the data utilization. Therefore, the degree of data perturbation in LDP should be set properly depending on the data collection and analysis purposes. Thus, in this paper, we develop the simulation tool which aims to help the data collector to properly chose the degree of data perturbation in LDP by providing her/him visualized simulated results with various parameter configurations.

  • Rice blast is one of the most serious disease threatening stable production of rice. Breeding of resistant cultivars has been used as the most effective and useful method to controll rice blast caused by Magnaporthe oryzae. To collect rice blast isolates in fields and test their pathogenicity on new cultivars are important for establishment of new resistant cultivars breeding program of rice. Pathotypes of Korean rice blast isolates have been categorized to Korean differential race system developed in 1985. However, it is little known about genetic background of Korean differential cultivars, so that it is hard to understand for relationship between each pathogen and each host plant at genetic level. In this study, we suggested necessity of a new differential system by analyzing pathogenic responses between 24 monogenic rice lines and 200 Korean rice blast isolates. In addition, we determined the nine representative resistant genes based on the resistance responses of the monogenic lines to rice blast isolates, indexed resistant responses of the monogenic lines to ten representative rice blast isolates and selected 30 Korean representative rice blast isolates proper to Korean system. We think the newly developed differential race system can be broadly used to select resistant cultivars to rice blast in Korea.

  • In IT service quality research, the relationship between the service quality and clients' satisfaction was the focus of many studies while in relationship quality research, the influence of trust and conflict on relationship commitment seems to be the focus. In this study, these two research streams are integrated and a theoretical research model is proposed consisting of IT service quality, satisfaction, trust and relationship commitment with conflict as a moderator for the overall psychological mechanism. As satisfaction represents emotional response while trust cognitive response, this research model integrated both emotional and cognitive aspects of relationship maintenance in the IT service context. Analysis of data collected from 262 employees of global IT service firm revealed the differential effects of reliability, responsiveness, assurance and empathy on satisfaction and trust. Also, depending upon the level of conflict, the effects of reliability and assurance were found to be moderated. Further analysis revealed more profound mechanism at work relating emotional and cognitive aspects in the psychology of relationship maintenance in IT service context. Practical implications are further discussed in the conclusion.
