  • Differential transform method (DTM) for free vibration analysis of both ends simply supported beam resting on elastic foundation is suggested. The fourth order partial differential equation for free vibration of the beam resting on elastic foundation subjected to bending moment, shear and axial compressive load is obtained by using Winkler hypothesis and small displacement theory. It is assumed that the material is linear-elastic, and that axial load and modulus of subgrade reaction to be constant. In the analysis, shear and axial load effects are considered. The frequency factors of the beam are calculated by using DTM due to the values of relative stiffness; the results are presented in graphs and tables.

  • The parts of pile, above the soil and embedded in the soil are called the first region and second region, respectively. The forth order differential equations of both region for critical buckling load of partially embedded pile with shear deformation are obtained using the small-displacement theory and Winkler hypothesis. It is assumed that the behavior of material of the pile is linear-elastic and that axial force along the pile length and modulus of subgrade reaction for the second region to be constant. Shear effect is included in the differential equations by considering shear deformation in the second derivative of the elastic curve function. Critical buckling loads of the pile are calculated for by differential transform method (DTM) and analytical method, results are given in tables and variation of critical buckling loads corresponding to relative stiffness of the pile are presented in graphs.

  • EDDC(Evaporation using Drum in Dual Chamber) deposition system was manufactured for 100m long superconducting coated conductor. It is composed of reaction chamber, evaporation chamber and differential chamber. The drum is located across the differential and exposed to both of the evaporation chamber and the reaction chamber, and the tape is wound on the drum. The elements of superconducting material are co-evaporated from respective element boats in the evaporation chamber and deposited on the drum and reacted with oxygen in the reaction chamber. This process repeats by rotating the drum. When the total pressure of the reaction chamber was 5 mTorr, that of the evaporation chamber was $5{\sim}10^{-5}$Torr. This atmosphere can be achieved by means of differential pumping. There are four evaporator in the evaporation chamber. One is the radiation heating evaporator and the others are the high frequency induction evaporator. EDDC is one of promising methods for commercialization of superconducting coated conductor.

  • Silk fibroin/poly (vinyl pyrrolidone) conjugates were prepared and characterized through differential thermal calorimeter and thermogravimetry. The glass transition temperature (Tg) of poly (vinyl pyrrolidone) was not changed by reaction with silk fibroin. However, abnormal exothermic peak was observed at the silk fibroin/poly (vinyl pyrrolidone) conjugates. Thermogravimetric analysis showed that thermal stability of silk fibroin was relatively increased by reaction with PVP.

  • Thermal Analyses are conducted to measure various factors of a liquid fuel required for numerical analysis. Thermal Analyses are divided into two different methods of TGA (Thermo Gravimetric Analysis) and DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry). Non-isothermal experimental results are analyzed using by TGA. The results are filtered by a Freeman Carroll method. At the same time, chemical parameters of unknown liquid fuel, activation temperature and reaction order are measured to 6128.2 K and 1.4, respectively. Furthermore, the parameters can be obtained by various mathematical methods. It is found that tha parameters depend on the processing method.

  • Rehmannia glutinosa is a perennial medicinal plant belonging to the family Scrophulariaceae with more than 300 species known in the world, especially in temperate regions. Its roots have been used widely in Korea for medicinal purposes. However, it is commonly infected by various pathogens during storage, causing great damage to the roots, and impedes the intensive farming of the crop. Therefore, an attempt has been made to isolate and screen a resistance gene against the pathogen Fusarium oxysporum using differential display. We treated salicylic acid(SA), and isolated a resistance gene that responds to SA. As a result, we found that SA was involved in plant defense mechanism in pathogenicity tests with SA treated and non-treted plants, and we isolated a partial PR-la gene through differential display polymerase chain reaction(DD-PCR) method.

  • The techniques of pulse and cyclic voltammetry were applied to the determination of (E$_{1}$2)$_2$-(E$_{1}$2)$_1$ for two-step electrochemical charge transfers. In addition, a simple amplitude was derived far the dependence of the differential pulse response on (E$_{l}$ 2/)$_1$ and (E$_{1}$2/)$_2$. and the use of peak to peak separation in cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse methods was evaluated. A comparison of the comproportionation constants(Ke) from differential pulse and cyclic voltammetry methods exhibited a good agreement within 5%.

  • In many papers, the powertrain system generally has been madeled as one-dimensional torque model. One-dimensional powertrain model may calculate the torque correctly but it does not consider the non-rotational degrees-of-freedom of the powertrain components and the interaction of these degrees-of-freedom with the vehicle body frame and suspension. To consider the non-rotational degrees of freedom, the differential is modeled as a three-dimensional rigid body in this paper. A constant velocity joint is newly formulated and a relative constraint is also formulated to model the motion transfer due to gear ratio of the differential. Implementing the proposed powertrain system in the multibody model, more detail dynamic responses can be obtained. Obtained outputs such as reaction torques on the constant velocity joint and reaction forces on the rack can be useful data in the design of a powertrain.

  • The electrochemical reduction of coumarin derivatives in 0.1M TEAP acetonitrile solution was investigated by the direct current, differential pulse polarography, cyclic voltammetry and controlled potential coulometry. The electrochemical reduction of 7-acetoxy-4-bromomethyl-coumarin(ABMC) was proceeded as an irreversible three steps(-0.58, -1.63 and -2.25 volts) of electrochemical transfer before chemical reaction. The solution color turned to yellow after the carboxyl group was reduced at 2nd step(-1.63 volts vs. Ag-AgCl) and the change in color was independant to the bromo group. Upon the basis of the results on the products analysis and the interpretaton of polarograms, a possible electrochemical reaction mechanism was suggested.
