GPS Application for the Digital Map Construction of Irrigation Canal Networks

  • GPS(Global Positioning System) surveying is an effective method using satellite measurement system and can be applied to construction of digital map of irrigation canal networks. In this study, GPS surveying method for irrigation structures was developed. A selected main canal of an irrigation district were surveyed by GPS. The obtained surveying results were corrected by post-processed DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System) and imported to GIS for the digital map construction.

Performance Analysis of Wide-Area Differential Positioning Based on Regional Navigation Satellite System

  • The position accuracy of the stand-alone Regional Navigation Satellite System (RNSS) users is more than tens of meters because of various error sources in satellite navigation signals. This paper focuses on wide-area differential (WAD) positioning technique, which is already applied in Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), in order to improve the position accuracy of RNSS users. According to the simulation results in the very narrow ground network in regional area, the horizontal position error of stand-alone RNSS is about RMS 11.6 m, and that of RNSS with WAD technique, named the WAD-RNSS, is about RMS 2.5 m. The accuracy performance has improved by about 78%.

  • 최근에 GPS가 차량항법시스템으로 큰 역할을 해왔지만, 가로수와 고층빌딩 등이 산재한 도심지에서는 가시위성의 수의 제한으로 연속적으로 정확하게 차량의 동적위치를 결정할 수 없는 실정이다. 이런 GPS의 단점을 보완하기 위해 1996년 완전히 가동된 러시아의 위성항법시스템인 GLONASS를 도입하여 GPS의 보조항법시스템으로 사용하고자 하는 연구가 활발하다. 그래서 본 연구에서는 Real-time code differential positioning 기법으로 차량의 동적위치를 결정하여, Real-time DGG(DGPS/DGLONASS)가 차분측위해의 획득율과 수평위치 정밀도저하율(HDOP ; Horizontal Dilution of Precision)에서 Real-time DGPS보다 훨씬 우수한 값을 얻었으며, 이를 통해 GPS와 GLONASS의 결합이 정확한 차량의 동적위치결정에 기여하고 있음을 알 수 있었다.

  • A fuzzy logic controller(FLC) was developed for the autonomous travel of speedsprayer in an orchard. The autonomous travel with the FLC was graphically simulated under the conditions of an ordinary standard orchard. Differential global positioning system(DGPS) was used to find the direction of running and four ultrasonic sensors were used to detect obstacles during the running. The simulation results showed that the speedsprayer, by the FLC combined with DGPS and the ultrasonic sensors. could overcome the turning problem at comers which could not be solved with such a system as machine vision and might be operated autonomously.

한국형 위성기반 항법보강시스템 (Korean Satellite Based Augmentations System)

  • 지상의 인프라 못지않게 중요시 되고 있는 GNSS (global navigation satellite system) 를 위한 한국형 위성기반 보강시스템을 제안하였다. 제안된 시스템은 가장 경제적인 위성기반 보강시스템 구축을 위하여 시스템 요소로서 현재 존재하는 시스템의 사용을 적극 고려하였다. 기준시스템은 현재 운용되고 있는 DGPS (differential global positioning system) 네트워크를 최대한 활용하는 것으로 하였고, 위성은 통신해양기상위성 1호(COMS-1)을 근간으로 조사하였다. 버스 시스템은 최소한의 변경이 예상되는 반면 통신탑재체는 주요한 변화를 겪게 될 것으로 분석되었다. 지상의 주제어 센터는 새롭게 건설되어야 하지만 소프트웨어, 인력 등 센터의 필수적인 요소는 DGPS네트워크의 운용 경험을 통하여 쉽게 확보될 수 있으리라 판단된다 .

Receiver DCB Estimation and Analysis by Types of GPS Receiver

  • This paper analyzes that the global positioning system (GPS) receiver differential code bias (DCB) has effect on the estimation the ionosphere total electron content (TEC). The data from nine permanent GPS sites of the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) were used for the estimation of the receiver DCB before (Trimble 4000 SSi) and after (Trimble NetRS) the receiver replacement, using the singular value decomposition method. The results showed that the estimated mean value of the receiver DCB varied from 0.11 ns (nanosecond) to 7.54 ns before the receiver replacement, but the receiver DCBs shoed large values than 20 ns except some stations after the replacement. The receiver DCB showed a relatively large difference by types of the receivers, and, as a result, it had a great effect on the estimation the ionosphere TEC using GPS.

Antenna Radiation Efficiency of the Korean NDGPS Based on Radiation Power Measurements

  • The differential global positioning system (DGPS) transmits a GPS enhancement signal using a top-loaded monopole antenna in the medium frequency range. The top-loaded antenna in the medium frequency band can attain a radiation efficiency on the order of 10%. The antenna ground plane characteristics affect the antenna radiation efficiency. To improve the radiation efficiency, it is necessary to install the antenna on a ground plane with large enough physical dimensions and good conductivity. The antenna radiation efficiency is a primary factor in determining the DGPS service area. The service area of the DGPS using a medium frequency band is dominantly affected by the antenna radiation efficiency. To determine antenna radiation efficiencies accurately, the antenna radiation efficiencies of DGPS are deduced from the propagation power in this paper. Based on the deduced antenna radiation efficiencies, the service area for the Korean nationwide-DGPS is analyzed and evaluated.

Development of a CSGPS/DR Integrated System for High-precision Trajectory Estimation for the Purpose of Vehicle Navigation

  • In this study, a carrier smoothed global positioning system / dead reckoning (CSGPS/DR) integrated system for high-precision trajectory estimation for the purpose of vehicle navigation was proposed. Existing code-based GPS has a low position accuracy, and carrier-phase differential global positioning system (CPDGPS) has a long waiting time for high-precision positioning and has a problem of high cost due to the establishment of infrastructure. To resolve this, the continuity of a trajectory was guaranteed by integrating CSGPS and DR. The results of the experiment indicated that the trajectory precision of the code-based GPS showed an error performance of more than 30cm, while that of the CSGPS/DR integrated system showed an error performance of less than 10cm. Based on this, it was found that the trajectory precision of the proposed CSGPS/DR integrated system is superior to that of the code-based GPS.

  • 본 연구는 RTK-GPS (Real Time Kinematic-Global Positioning System) 측위법을 이용한 변위 계측 결과, 가속도계를 이용한 변위계측 결과, 그리고 LVDT(Linear variable differential transformer)의 변위계측 결과를 비교하여 RTK-GPS와 가속도계 센서를 구조물에 적용할 때의 문제점들을 파악하였다. 또한, 관측빈도와 측위 정확도를 향상시킨 RTK-GPS와 가속도계를 이용한 변위계측 결과를 통합 계산하여 절대변위인 LVDT와 비교를 통해 생성된 통합 변위의 정확도와 타당성을 확인하였다.
