  • In this paper, the signal analysis of eddy current array probe was performed to analyze the electromagnetic characteristics with the variation of FBH(flat bottomed hole) defects size on steam generator tube in NPP(nuclear power plants) using the electromagnetic finite element method. To obtain the electromagnetic characteristic of probes, the governing equation was derived from Maxwell's equations, and the individual problem was analyzed by using the 3-dimensional finite element method. For the simulation FBH defects were used. The depth of FBH defects were 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100% of steam generator(SG) tube thickness, and it was assumed that the defects were located on the tube outside. And the operation frequencies of 100 kHz, 300 kHz and 400 kHz were used. Material of specimen was Inconel 600 which is usually used for SG tubes in NPP. The signal difference could be observed according to the size variation of depth of FBH defects and operation frequencies. The results in this paper can be helpful when the ECT(eddy current testing) signals from EC array probe are evaluated and analyzed.

  • The complementary relationship hypothesis for areal evapotranspirations was validated in the regional-scale area of multipurpose dam basins in Korea and the long-term water balances were indirectly identified. Annual actual evapotranspiration ($ET_A$) was assumed the difference between total annual precipitation and total annual inflow and the available moisture was assumed the total precipitation. The seasonally varying pan coefficient (kp) is estimated as the ratio of the $ET_{pan}$ and the evapotranspiration calculated by FAO Penman-Monteith equation ($ET_{PM}$). The complementary relationships using ground observation data of $ET_P$ and $ET_A$ in the multipurpose dam basins follow generally the typical pattern that $ET_P$ and $ET_A$ is complementary and converges to equivalent evapotranspiration ($ET_W$) under the extreme wet environment. However, $ET_A$ of Juam dam was estimated relatively greater than other basins and exceeds even $ET_P$ at certain range with high moisture availability, which can be understood as the results of possible over-estimation of precipitation or under-estimation of dam inflow. It is expected that the use of evapotranspiration complementary relationship for validating hydrological water balances will contribute to controlling uncertainties in estimating dam inflows during flood season in particular.

  • Dynamic loading of structures often causes excursions of stresses well into the inelastic range, and the influence of the geometric changes on the dynamic response is also significant in many cases. Therefore, both material and geometric nonlinearity effects should be considered in case that a dynamic load acts on the structure. A structure in a nuclear power plant is a structure of importance which puts emphasis on safety. A nuclear container is a pressure vessel subject to internal pressure and this structure is constructed by a reinforced concrete or a pre-stressed concrete. In this study, the material nonlinearity effect on the dynamic response is formulated by the elasto-viscoplastic model highly corresponding to the real behavior of the material. Also, the geometrically nonlinear behavior is taken into account using a total Lagrangian coordinate system, and the equilibrium equation of motion is numerically solved by a central difference scheme. The constitutive relation of concrete is modeled according to a Drucker-Prager yield criterion in compression. The reinforcing bars are modeled by a smeared layer at the location of reinforcements, and the steel layer model under Von Mises yield criteria is adopted to represent an elastic-plastic behavior. To investigate the dynamic response of a nuclear reinforced concrete containment structure, the steel-ratios of 0, 3, 5 and 10 percent, are considered. The results obtained from the analysis of an example were summarized as follows 1. As the steel-ratio increases, the amplitude and the period of the vertical displacements in apex of dome decreased. The Dynamic Magnification Factor(DMF) was some larger than that of the structure without steel. However, the regular trend was not found in the values of DMF. 2. The dynamic response of the vertical displacement and the radial displacement in the dome-wall junction were shown that the period of displacement in initial step decreased with the steel-ratio increases. Especially, the effect of the steel on the dynamic response of radial displacement disapeared almost. The values of DMF were 1.94, 2.5, 2.62 and 2.66, and the values increased with the steel-ratio. 3. The characteristics of the dynamic response of radial displacement in the mid-wall were similar to that of dome-wall junction. The values of DMF were 1.91, 2.11, 2.13 and 2.18, and the values increased with the steel-ratio. 4. The amplitude and the period of the hoop-stresses in the dome, the dome-wall junction, and the mid-wall were shown the decreased trend with the steel-ratio. The values of DMF were some larger than those of the structure without steel. However, the regular trend was not found in the values of DMF.

  • Metal hydrides, $LaNi_5$ and $LaNi_{4.5}Al_{0.5}$, were prepared using chemical synthetic method, and their physical properties were examined using various analytic techniques such as TGA, XRD, SEM and EDX. The activation of the chemically prepared $LaNi_5$ and $LaNi_{4.5}Al_{0.5}$ was achieved by two hydriding/dehydriding cycles only. The miasurements of P-C-T curves revealed that 6 and 5.5 hydrogen atoms were stored in LaNi5and $LaNi_{4.5}Al_{0.5}$, respectively. The hydriding reaction rated for $LaNi_{4.5}Al_{0.5}$ were measured by the method of initial rates. It was found that the shrinking unreacted core model could be applied for the analysis of hydriding kinetics of $LaNi_5$. The rate controlling step of this reaction was the dissociative chemisorption of hydrogen molecules on the surface of $LaNi_5$. The activation energy was $9.506kcal/mol-H_2$. The rates measured in the temperature range from 273 to 343K and in pressure difference ($P_o-P_{eq}$) range form 0.25 to 0.66atm could be expressed as the following equation ; $\frac{dX}{dt}=4.636(P_o-P_{eq})$ exp($\frac{-9506}{RT}$).

  • This study was conducted to predict the carcass yield traits using ultrasound before slaughter and to enhance the prediction accuracy of carcass yield grade by applying various strategies. For this experiment, five hundred seventy three Hanwoo steers of 24 months of age were used. Difference between ultrasound result and carcass measure of BFT and LMA was 0.6$\pm$1.65mm and 0.7$\pm$5.56cm2, respectively. Correlation coefficient between ultrasound result and carcass measure of BFT and LMA was 0.86 and 0.82, respectively (p<0.001). Results for improving predictions of yield grade by four methods-the Korean yield grade index equation, fat depth alone, regression and decision tree methods were 80.3%, 81.3%, 80.1% and 81.8%, respectively. We conclude that the decision tree method can easily predict yield grade and is also useful for increasing prediction accuracy rate.

  • The study aims at verifying the effect of the image, trust and responsiveness to social welfare organizations on continuing the sponsorship of private donors, the mediating effect of the organizational identification and the moderating effect of their financial status. As a result of causal analysis of the variables by structural equation models, regardless of donors' financial status, social welfare organizations' image, trust and responsiveness has no direct effect on continuing the sponsorship. Among the donors in relatively good financial status, social welfare organizations' image, trust and responsiveness positively have direct effects on organizational identification, which has a direct effect on continuing the sponsorship. That is, the image, trust and responsiveness influence the continuity of the sponsorship through the full mediating effect of organizational identification. On the other hand, among relatively poor donors, only the organizations' image and trust positively influence the organizational identification, The direct and indirect effects on the continuity of the sponsorship are different according to the private donors' financial status, which means that the moderating effect of the donors' financial status is proved. The result of latent mean analysis regarding 5 main latent variables according to the private donors' financial status, shows the significant difference in the continuity of sponsorship only(Mean= .197, Cohen's D=.779). By emphasizing that Organizational identification is a critical factor in terms of enhancing the continuity of sponsorship, some practical implications are discussed based on the study's findings.

  • To study the direct effect of somatostatin (SS) on calcium channel current ($I_{Ba}$) in guinea-pig gastric myocytes, $I_{Ba}$ was recorded by using whole-cell patch clamp technique in single smooth muscle cells. Nicardipine ($1{\mu}M$), a L-type $Ca^{2+}$ channel blocker, inhibited $I_{Ba}$ by $98{\pm}1.9$% (n=5), however $I_{Ba}$ was decreased in a reversible manner by application of SS. The peak $I_{Ba}$ at 0 mV were decreased to $95{\pm}1.5$, $92{\pm}1.9$, $82{\pm}4.0$, $66{\pm}5.8$, $10{\pm}2.9$% at $10^{-10}$, $10^{-9}$, $10^{-8}$, $10^{-7}$, $10^{-5}$ M of SS, respectively (n=3∼6; $mean{\pm}SEM$). The steady-state activation and inactivation curves of $I_{Ba}$ as a function of membrane potentials were well fitted by a Boltzmann equation. Voltage of half-activation ($V_{0.5}$) was $-12{\pm}0.5$ mV in control and $-11{\pm}1.9$ mV in SS treated groups (respectively, n=5). The same values of half-inactivation were $-35{\pm}1.4$ mV and $-35{\pm}1.9$ mV (respectively, n=5). There was no significant difference in activation and inactivation kinetics of $I_{Ba}$ by SS. Inhibitory effect of SS on $I_{Ba}$ was significantly reduced by either dialysis of intracellular solution with $GDP_{\beta}S$, a non-hydrolysable G protein inhibitor, or pretreatment with pertussis toxin (PTX). SS also decreased contraction of guinea-pig gastric antral smooth muscle. In conclusion, SS decreases voltage-dependent L-type calcium channel current ($VDCC_L$) via PTXsensitive signaling pathways in guinea-pig antral circular myocytes.

  • This study aims to analyze influences of self-perceived health, participation in social activities on life satisfaction and mediating effect of participation in social activities of the elderly by age group. For this, Structural Equation Model(SEM) was implemented by using data of the 6th wave of KLoSA with 2,106 young-olds and 2,219 old-olds. The results are as follows: The young-old elderly had higher level of self-perceived health, higher participation in social activities, and higher life satisfaction than the old-old elderly, and the mediating effect of participation in social activities was founded only in the young-old elderly. As a result of multi-group analysis, the influence of self-perceived health on life satisfaction was confirmed by no difference between both groups and the influence of self-perceived health on the participation in social activities was relatively higher in the old-old elderly. In the path of participation in social activities on the life satisfaction, the young-old elderly were found to have a significant effect. Through above results, the intervention plan considering the differences between groups was discussed in order to improve the elderly's life satisfaction.

  • Human body volumes were calculated from the measurments of body height and body weight. Equations Suited to express the relations of height, weight, and surface area to show the body volume were derived from the body volume measurements by means of underwater. weighing method. Underwater body weights were corrected for the residual volume of long obtained by the Rahn's three breath method. Underwater weighing was performed on 173 male subjects aged between 13 and 51 years. Subjects were divided into 4 age groups, namely, 13-16 years group of 47 subjects, 16-19 years group of 46 subjects, adult group aged between 22 and 38 years comprising 45 subjects, and middle-aged group (40-51 years) of 35 subjects. The group division was made on .the basis of physical growth and development. The following results were obtained. 1. Body height (H, cm), body weight (W, kg), body surface area $S,\; m^{2})$, and body volume (V, liter.) interrelated closely. V/S showed a high correlation with W/H and the coefficient of correlation was r=0.97 irrespective of age group differences of the subjects. The coefficients of correlation between V/S and W/H in the total mate subjects as a single group was r=1.983. Subsequently the following regression equation was obtained. V = S X (54.84 W/H + 14.08) The agreement of body volume values obtained by the calculation and underwater weighing in the total subject group was better than that of the separate age group division. 2. The calculated values of body volume were: 40.4 l (euiqvalent to the body density value of 1.0562 kg/1) in 13-16 years group; 52.0 l (equivalent to density value of 1.0723 kg/l) in 16-19 years group; 55.3 l (equivalent to density value of 1.0570 kg/l) In the adult group; and 54. 0 l (equivalent to density value of 1.074 kg/l) in the middle-age group. The mean deviation of calculated from the measured volume value ranged between ${\pm}0.55$ and ${\pm}0.81$ liters. 3. The correlation between V/S and mean skinfold thickness of 4 sites (arm, back, iliac and chest) was high, namely, the coefficient of correlation was r=0.656. The coefficients of correlation between V./S and the $R\"{o}hrer$ index ranged between r=0.668 and r=0.810 affected by the difference in group age of the subject. The body volume (V) alone correlated poorly than V/S with mean skinfold thickness (r=0.606) and the $R\"{o}hrer$ index (r ranged between 0.274 and 0.588).

  • 1. The higher the temperature of the sea water, and the smaller the size of the oriental brown shrimp, the higher the feeding rate of the shrimp will be as long as the temperature ranges from $19^{\circ}\;to\;30^{\circ}C$, and each shrimp weighs from 1.6 to 14.9 grams. The average daily feeding rate is between 18 to 44 percent. 2. The nighttime feeding rate is always higher than the daytime feeding rate. However, the daytime feeding rate can be raised to from 22 to 37 percent of the daily feeding rate iii the non-sediment, dark or direct-sunshine-shielded conditions. Growth can thus be accelerated to that extent under such conditions. 3. When anchovy and short-necked clam meats were simultaneously used as food, a greater quantity of anchovy meat was consumed than short-necked clam meat both during the daytime and nighttime. When anchovy and short-necked clam meats were simultaneously given, the averaged daily feeding rates of anchovy and short-necked clam meats were 12.9 percent and 10.3 percent, respectively. 4. The following equation applies to the relationship between the freight of the oriental brown shrimp (W in grams) and their daily growth rate (DGR in percent): log DGR=0.7035-0.7864 log W. The daily growth rate is in inverse proportion to the size of the shrimp. 5. The efficiency of food conversion of the oriental brown shrimp fluctuates between 2.8 and 7.8 percent without extensive difference depending on the size of the shrimp. This was very small as compared with the corresponding figures so far known for fish and cuttlefish.
