Recently lots of attention has been paid to gene set analysis for identifying differentially expressed gene-sets between two sample groups. Unlike earlier approaches, the gene set analysis enables us to find significant gene-sets along with their functional characteristics. For this reason, various novel approaches have been suggested lately for gene set analysis. As one of such, PAGE is a parametric approach that employs average difference (AD) as an expression metric to quantify expression differences between two sample groups and assumes that the distribution of gene scores is normal. This approach is preferred to non-parametric approach because of more effective performance. However, the metric AD does not reflect either gene expression intensities or variances over samples in calculating gene scores. Thus, in this paper, we investigate the usefulness of several other expression metrics for parametric gene-set analysis, which consider actual expression intensities of genes or their expression variances over samples. For this purpose, we examined three expression metrics, WAD (weighted average difference), FC (Fisher's criterion), and Abs_SNR (Absolute value of signal-to-noise ratio) for parametric gene set analysis and evaluated their experimental results.
Making a precise and ideal set-up model is an essential part in the indirect bonding procedure for lingual orthodontic treatment. To evaluate the accuracy of the making a set-up model, 22 adult patients who received lingual orthodontic treatment with 4 bicuspid extractions were selected, and 3 sets of dental models (before, set-up, and after treatment) were measured using the set-up model gauge, an instrument for measuring the inclination and angulation of the clinical crowns on the dental model. Two sets of lateral cephalograms (before and after) from each patient were also evaluated. The mean difference between the before treatment model and the set-up model was $-3.93{\pm}6.98^{\circ}$ for the inclination and $1.87{\pm}5.79^{\circ}$ for the angulation. And the mean difference between the set-up model and the after treatment model was $-4.31{\pm}5.91^{\circ}$ labiolingually and $-2.16{\pm}3.27^{\circ}$ mesiodistally, The after treatment model differed from the before treatment model about $-8.24{\pm}5.39^{\circ}$ in inclination. There were no significant difference between the measured gauge that measured from the dental model using the set-up model gauge and the calculated gauge angle measured from the lateral cephalogram using constructed points and lines. Using the set-up model gauge, it is possible to evaluate the study model 3-dimensionally in relation with the patient's lateral cephalogram and establish whether the doctor's prescription or overcorrection is built in the set-up model precisely.
This study is based on a representative body shape drawn from previous studies that classify adult male torso shapes. In this study, a design method is proposed by developing a tight-fit pattern that can be easily developed into various items and designs using the body surface development figure. This is obtained by converting the 3D body shape of the model representing the representative body shape. The specific design method was conducted as follows. Actual measurement values were used for waist back length, waist-to-hip length, shoulder length. The scye depth was determined as C/4-1.7 cm, and the front and back Interscye was set at (1/2 × actual measurements)-0.2 cm. The front-back neck breadth was set to (1/5 × base neck circumference)-1.3 cm and (1/5 × base neck circumference) cm. The front-back neck depth was set to (1/5 × base neck circumference)-1.2 cm and 3.5 cm. Front chest circumference was C/4-1 (front-back difference)cm; (1/4 × back chest circumference) was C/4 + 1 (front-back difference) + 0.3 (dart amount) cm. Front waist circumference was W/4-0.2 (front-back difference) + 2.2 (dart amount) cm; back waist circumference was W/4 + 0.2 (front-back difference) + 2.5 (dartamount) cm; front hip circumference was H/4 + 0.2 (ease) + 0.2 (front-back difference) cm; and back hip circumference was H/4 + 0.2 (ease)-0.2 (front-back difference) cm; Front droop was 1.6 cm. The newly developed tight-fit pattern is expected to be of great use as a basis for garment construction.

In order to examine the heat transfer characteristic of a soil warming system and effects of soil warming on the greenhouse heating load, control experiments were performed in two greenhouses covered with double polyethylene film. One treated the soil warming with an electric heat wire and the other treated a control. Inside and outside air temperature, soil temperature and heat flux, and heating energy consumption were measured under the set point of heating temperature of $5,\;10,\;15,\;and\;20^{\circ}C$, respectively. Soil temperatures in a soil warming treatment were observed $4.1\;to\;4.9^{\circ}C$ higher than a control. Heating energy consumptions decreased by 14.6 to 30.8% in a soil warming treatment. As the set point of heating temperature became lower, the rate of decrease in the heating energy consumptions increased. The percentage of soil heat flux in total heating load was -49.4 to 24.4% and as the set point of heating temperature became higher, the percentage increased. When the set point of heating temperature was low in a soil warming treatment, the soil heat flux load was minus value and it had an effect on reducing the heating load. Soil heat flux loads showed in proportion to the air temperature difference between the inside and outside of greenhouse but they showed big difference according to the soil warming treatment. So new model for estimation of the soil heat flux load should be introduced. Convective heat transfer coefficients were in proportion to the 1/3 power of temperature difference between the soil surface and the inside air. They were $3.41\;to\;12.42\;W/m^{2}^{\circ}C$ in their temperature difference of $0\;to\;10^{\circ}C$. Radiative heat loss from soil surface in greenhouse was about 66 to 130% of total heating load. To cut the radiation loss by the use of thermal curtains must be able to contribute for the energy saving in greenhouse.
The complete multipartite graph $K_{n(m)}$ with n $ {\geq}$ 4 partite sets of size m is shown to have a decomposition into 4-cycles in such a way that vertices of each cycle belong to distinct partite sets of $K_{n(m)}$, if 4 divides the number of edges. Such cycles are called gregarious, and were introduced by Billington and Hoffman ([2]) and redefined in [3]. We independently came up with the result of [3] by using a difference set method, and improved the result so that the composition is circulant, in the sense that it is invariant under the cyclic permutation of partite sets. The composition is then used to construct gregarious 4-cycle decompositions when one partite set of the graph has different cardinality than that of others. Some results on joins of decomposable complete multipartite graphs are also presented.
We introduce the concept of what we call "regular difference covers" and prove many nonexistence results and provide some new constructions. Although the techniques employed mirror those used to investigate difference sets, the end results in this new setting are quite different.

In order to reduce the length of off-gauge at FGC(Flying gauge change) point, We adopted dynamic set up in No. 4 cold rolling mill. The conventional set-up of FGC(Flying gauge change) was calculated on the basis of preset values in the process control computer, so the difference between actual strip thickness and preset thickness cause long off-gauge. The dynamic SET-UP control was calculated on the basis of actual strip thickness of FGC(Flying gauge change) point from X-ray gauge of mill entry and No.i stand. We applied dynamic SET-UP control in September last year. Compare to the previous result, the length of off-gauge is reduced by about 36%.
The performances of both module sets made by different methods for helical module were compared. All experiments were conducted simultaneously at the same transmembrane pressure and energy cosumption per membrane area. The effects of Dean vortices for reducing concentration polarization and fouling were low for the first module set. The increase of 115% for permeate flux improvement(permeate flux difference ${\times}100$/pemeate flux of linear module) was measured. The second module set was more effective in reducing concentration polarization and fouling.
In this paper, we show that the system of difference equations $x_n={\frac{ay^p_{n-1}+b(x_{n-2}y_{n-1})^{p-1}}{cy_{n-1}+dx^{p-1}_{n-2}}}$, $y_n={\frac{{\alpha}x^p_{n-1}+{\beta}(y_{n-2}x_{n-1})^{p-1}}{{\gamma}x_{n-1}+{\delta}y^{p-1}_{n-2}}}$, n ∈ ℕ0 where the parameters a, b, c, d, α, β, γ, δ, p and the initial values x-2, x-1, y-2, y-1 are real numbers, can be solved. Also, by using obtained formulas, we study the asymptotic behaviour of well-defined solutions of aforementioned system and describe the forbidden set of the initial values. Our obtained results significantly extend and develop some recent results in the literature.

In this paper, we proposed the receive decoder and Virterbi algorithm with sliding multiple symbol detection using MLSE. the informationis transmitted by the phase difference of the adjacent channel signal at the .pi./4 shift QPSK. In order to apply the .pi./4 shift QPSK to TCM, we use the signal set expansion and the signal set partition by the phase differences. And the Viterbi decoder containing branch mertrice of the squared Euclidean distance of the first, second and Lth order phase difference is introduced in order to extract the information in the differential detection of the Trellis-Coded .pi./4 shift QPSK. The proposed Viterbi decoder and receiver are conceptually same to the sliding multiple symbol detection method using the MLSE. By uisng this method, the study shows that the Trellis-Coded .pi./4 shift QPSK is an attractive scheme for the power and the bandimited systems while also improving the BER performance when the Viterbi decoder is employed to the Lth order phase difference metrics.
