Implementation of Ontology-based Clinical Decision Support System for Management of Interactions Between Antihypertensive Drugs and Diet (항고혈압제-식이 상호작용 관리를 위한 온톨로지 기반의 임상의사결정지원시스템 구현)

  • Purpose: The influence of dietary composition on blood pressure is an important subject in healthcare. Interactions between antihypertensive drugs and diet (IBADD) is the most important factor in the management of hypertension. It is therefore essential to support healthcare providers' decision making role in active and continuous interaction control in hypertension management. The aim of this study was to implement an ontology-based clinical decision support system (CDSS) for IBADD management (IBADDM). We considered the concepts of antihypertensive drugs and foods, and focused on the interchangeability between the database and the CDSS when providing tailored information. Methods: An ontology-based CDSS for IBADDM was implemented in eight phases: (1) determining the domain and scope of ontology, (2) reviewing existing ontology, (3) extracting and defining the concepts, (4) assigning relationships between concepts, (5) creating a conceptual map with CmapTools, (6) selecting upper ontology, (7) formally representing the ontology with Protege (ver.4.3), (8) implementing an ontology-based CDSS as a JAVA prototype application. Results: We extracted 5,926 concepts, 15 properties, and formally represented them using Protege. An ontology-based CDSS for IBADDM was implemented and the evaluation score was 4.60 out of 5. Conclusion: We endeavored to map functions of a CDSS and implement an ontology-based CDSS for IBADDM.

Analysis of the Job Activities and Demand of Dietitian in the Elderly Health-care Facilities (노인의료 복지시설 영양사의 업무활동 및 요구도 분석)

  • This study was objectively performed to identify dietitians' job in the elderly health-care facilities, to assess facilities and dietitian's demographic characteristics, and to determine performance and importance of dietitian's job including the demand of therapeutic diet development. Survey was conducted by mail and samples were the dietitians working in 376 facilities which capacity is over 50 members from nationwide 583 the elderly health-care facilities. Returned questionnaire was 102 and used for statistic analysis. The distributions of the elderly health-care facilities showed 39 the elderly nursing facilities(38.2%), 32 skilled nursing facilities (32.4%), 13 geriatrics hospital facilities(12.7%) and 9 the elderly cost nursing facilities(8.8%). 60.0 percent of the samples showed its menu price as 1,000 to 1,500 won. A cycle-menu program was in-use at the 79.0% facilities, but only 7.1% facilities have been introduced a selected menu system. 92.9% facilities employed only one dietitian. In the demographic characteristics of dietitian only 14.7% dietitian had a clinical dietitian license and 51.5% of respondents answered at least 1 to 3 months internship program is needed. Job activities of the dietitian in the elderly health-care foodservice were identified as 45 activities with 9 dimensions. Job performance score evaluated dietitian oneself was 4.71 of 7 points. The average importance score that the dietitian evaluated their own job was 5.66 points of 7. The job activities shown higher importance but lower performance were therapeutic diet development for in-patients, menu development suitable for taste of the elderly, and leadership. Job performance score by characteristics of dietitian and their elderly health-care facilities was significantly associated with experience of dietitian in elderly health-care (F=4.480, p<0.05), education of dietitian(F=2.659, p<0.01), number of dietitian(F=2.245, p<0.05), and number of employee in foodservice(F=2.607, p<0.05). Most common diseases of the aged was proved as hypertension(81.7%), diabetes mellitus(71.4%), and dementia(65.0%). The therapeutic diets frequently provided were diabetes mellitus diet, dysphagia diet, low sodium diet, high fiber diet, and high protein diet, in order. For those reasons, dietitian in the elderly health care emphasized that the information about therapeutic diet development such as diabetes mellitus diet, dysphagia diet, low sodium diet and hypertension diet must be continuously developed and provided. The result from this study can be applicable to enlarge and enrich job activities of dietitian in elderly health-care foodservice.

The Monitoring of Information about Food and Nutrition Presented Throughout Various Television Brodeast Media (방송매체에 나타난 식품영양정보 모니터링)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze information about food and nutrition presented through the television broadcast media, with the aim of finding out the optimal communication method for supplying the general public with accurate information. To perform this study, a total of sixteen monitoring people were recruited and trained before and during the study. Five domestic TV channels were selected to be monitored, and the total monitoring period was six months. For maximum efficiency, the monitoring people were assigned to 8 teams. The results of the present study can be summarized as follows : First, the total reported cases of information about food and nutrition were 237, of which about 30% were judged appropriate and 70% as inappropriate. Second, classifying each case by program type, information programs made up the highest portion at 82 cases (34.6%), cooking programs accounted for 76 cases (32.1%), news programs for 40 cases (16.9%), and entertainment programs for 7 cases (3.0%). The analysis showed that the greatest amount of incorrect information was found in dramas, followed by entertainment, information, cooking and news programs. Third, classifying each case by theme of contents monitored, meal preparation and cookery made up the highest portion at 86 cases (36.3%), foods accounted for 67 cases (28.3%), disease and diet-therapy for 40 cases (16.9%), eating habits for 31 cases (13.1%), and diet and fitness for 13 cases (5.5%). Incorrect information was conveyed most often on the themes of food habits, foods, disease and diet-therapy, cookery, and diet and fitness. Fourth, classifying each case by channel, Cable TV had the highest frequency at 72 cases (30.4%), MBC had 51 cases (21.5%), SBS had 43 cases (18.1%), KBS1 had 41 cases (17.3%) and KBS2 had 30 cases (12.7%). In conclusion, systematic monitoring should be continued to reduce the frequency of incorrect information being broadcast and to help ensure that accurate information is conveyed to the general public. Moreover, there should be a system of cooperation to provide information to help broadcast production teams establish a strategic program. Finally, it is essential to organize an advisory team by promoting links between the mass media and specialists in the field, and to develop an educational program on nutrition to help ensure the communication of accurate information on food and nutrition.   • To guarantee the effectiveness of the HACCP(Hazard analysis and critical control points) system, it is necessary to develop of an ontology-based information system that can automatically manage the large amount of HACCP records or information derived from the HACCP operation results. In this paper, we construct a food information ontology which represents the relationships between ingredients, recipe, and features of food categories. Moreover, we develop HACCP automation application adopt the ontology to verify the semantic quality of the designed ontology model by performing HACCP processes such as HACCP diet classification. We expect to contribute to develop a food hygiene information and improve the accuracy of the HACCP data through the semantic system.

Candidates need an application that doesn't change the screen a lot for the convenience and need a system that has fewer overloads. In this paper. we have implemented a program that helps students to improve their study using a note of wrong answers. vocabulary game and health management with using balanced diet, alarm, messenger, information of university and stretching.

An Analysis of National Library System of the Major Advanced Countries (주요 선진국의 국가도서관시스템 분석)

  • National libraries are responsible for collecting all publications issued in their respective countries. But national libraries vary widely in their origins and functions. In one or another form they are found in more than a hundred countries. The purpose of this paper is to suggest the backgrounds and theoretical informations to restructuring the completely centralized organizational framework of National Library of Korea. In order to achieve this goal. the national library systems of four culturally advanced countries, that is, British Library, Die Deutsche Bibliothek, Bibliotheque nationale de France, National Diet Library are analysed with respect to the grounds of main library, regional libraries. departmental or subject libraries, branch libraries, and their mutual relation.

Design of a Diabetic Patients Medication Adherence Help System Supporting both Smart Phone Apps and Feature Phone SMS (스마트폰 앱과 피처폰 SMS를 지원하는 당뇨병 환자의 복약 이행 지원 시스템 설계)

  • Medication adherence is a basic and important element in diabetes management, and it has been known the adherence rate should be keep over 80% to get positive result in diabetes management. In order to increase medication adherence, there have been smart phone apps that record medication, exercise, and diet. However, diabetes patients are generally over 50s, and most of them do not use smart phones. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a medication adherence help system that support both smart phone apps and feature phone SMS. Furthermore, we introduce system architecture for the system. Our work will help ICT-based diabetic management system developers to consider some issues for mobile based diabetic management systems..

Design and Implementation of Healthcare System for Chronic Disease Management

  • Chronic diseases management can be effectively achieved through early detection, continuous treatment, observation, and self-management, rather than a radar approach where patients are treated only when they visit a medical facility. However, previous studies have not been able to provide integrated chronic disease management services by considering generalized services such as hypertension and diabetes management, and difficult to expand and link to other services using only specific sensors or services. This paper proposes clinical rule flow model based on medical data analysis to provide personalized care for chronic disease management. Also, we implemented that as Rule-based Smart Healthcare System (RSHS). The proposed system executes chronic diseases management rules, manages events and delivers individualized knowledge information by user's request. The proposed system can be expanded into a variety of applications such as diet and exercise service in the future.

A Literature Review on Prevention and Management of Acne (여드름의 예방 및 관리에 대한 문헌적 고찰)

  • Objectives : This study was conducted to review about a prevention and management of acne Methods : We searched Korean research database by using keyword 'acne' and 'prevention' or 'management'. Korean research databases were Korean Studies Information Service System(KISS), Research Information Service System(RISS), Korean Medicine Information System(OASIS), National Digital Science Library(NDSL) and Jeonju Municipal Library. We classified studies identified by year, method, contents Results : Among 19 studies, 10 studies were articles and 9 studies were books. The proportion of studies published in 1990s was 26.3%, published in 2000s was 46.3%, published in 2010s was 26.3%. We analyzed 19 studies by classifying 4 categories that consist of Diet Management, Skin Management, Life Management, Exercise Management. In Diet Management, intake of fruits and vegetables was highly recommended, and intake of oily foods and high-fat foods was restricted. In Skin Management, thorough skin cleansing was highly recommended and skin contact was restricted. In Life Management, enough sleep and rest were highly recommended, and smoking was restricted. In Exercise Management, some of exercises to promote blood circulation were recommended. Conclusions : Various methods have been used for prevention and management of acne. It is necessary to systematically study the prevention and management of acne.

Development of Web-based u-Health Self-nutrition Management Program for Diabetic Patients (당뇨환자를 위한 웹 기반의 유헬스 자가영양관리 프로그램 개발)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to develop web-based self-nutrition management u-Health program for diabetic patients (DMDMG: Diabetes Mellitus Dietary Management Guide) for achieving systematic self-management of diet. Methods: The program consisted of five parts with different contents according to the results of needs assessment. Five major parts were 1) meal management part which contains calorie prescription, meals recording and dietary assessment, 2) prevention of disease part with information of diabetes and assessment of dietary behavior, 3) dietary behavior modification part with an education on dietary behavior modification plan and dietary behavior plan, 4) meal plan containing a training section for meal plan and self constructing part for meal planning by making tables, and 5) information about myself which composed with general and physical information. The system proposed in this study provides nutrients intake results right after input of diet intake, which is possible with simultaneous calculation of input data in the server with 3,495 food and 1,821 meal data base. The nutrients analysis program was evaluated with 26 diabetic patients with two-day 24 hr recall. Results: The differences of nutrients intakes between DMDMG and CANPRO 3.0 ranged from 13.5-16.5%, which was caused by the differences of databases of the two programs. The characteristics of DMDMG were; 1) it can provide an interactive tailored nutrition management, 2) it is a practical tool of diabetes nutritional management, 3) the program gives motivation for the dietary behavior modification. Conclusions: The effectiveness of whole program needs to be conducted, but the program was an innovative tool for self-management of nutrient intakes, diet behaviors, meal management and tailored nutrition education.
