안정성 이론을 이용한 고압 분사 액체 제트의 미립화 모델에 관한 연구 (A Study on an Atomization Model of a High-Pressurized Liquid Jet with a Stability Theory)

  • The wave characteristics for a non-reacting high-speed liquid jet were investigated using a linear stability theory. In this study, 2-D incompressible viscid momentum equation for a liquid jet was considered, and the effects of injection parameters, such as Weber number, Reynolds number, and density ratio, on the wave characteristics were investigated. With the wavelength obtained from the stability analysis, the atomization model was suggested. The droplet sizes after breakup were determined by the wavelengths of fast growing waves, and the mass of the shed droplets was determined by the breakup time derived by ORouke et al. It was found that in comparison with measurements of diesel fuel spray, the results of calculation had a similar trend of the decrease of overall SMD with the increase of Reynolds number.

액상부탄 간헐분무의 액적 크기 및 속도 측정과 최적 확률분포 연구 (Measurements of Droplet Sizes and Velocities with Optimum Probability Density Function in a Transient Liquefied Butane Spray)

  • The characteristics of liquefied butane spray are expected to be different from conventional diesel fuel spray, because a kind of flash boiling spray is expected when the back pressure is below the saturated vapor pressure of the butane(0.23MPa at 298K). The ambient pressure was held at a pressure above(0.37MPa) and below(0.15MPa) the fuel vapor pressure. The axial velocities, radial velocities, and size distributions in butane sprays were measured with PDPA(Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer) system. The PDPA measurement showed a smaller SMD at the 0.15MPa chamber pressure, compared to the 0.37MPa case. Log-hyperbolic density function for the droplets size distribution can be fitted to the experimental results of a liquefied butane spray.

  • In the present study, in order to understand the overall spray combustion characteristics of DME fuel as well as to identify the distinctive differences of DME combustion processes against the conventional hydrocarbon liquid fuels, the sequence of the comparative analysis have been systematically made for DME and n-heptane liquid fuels. To realistically represent the physical processes involved in the spray combustion, this studyemploys the hybrid breakup model, the stochastic droplet tracking model, collision model, high-pressure evaporation model, and transient flamelet model with detailed chemistry. Based on numerical results, the detailed discussions are made in terms of the autoignition, spray combustion processes, flame structure, and turbulence-chemistry interaction in the n-heptane and DME fueled spray combustion processes.

  • NUFLEX is a general purpose thermo/fluid flow analysis program which has various physical models including spray. In NUFLEX, spray models are composed of breakup and collision models of droplet. However, in case of diesel engine, interaction between wall-film and impingement model considering heat transfer is not coded in NUFLEX. In this study, Lee & Ryou impingement & wall-film model considering heat transfer is applied to NUFLEX. For the verification of this NUFLEX program, numerical results are compared with experimental data. Differences of film thickness and radius between numerical results and experimental data are within 10% error range. The results show that NUFLEX can be used for comprehensive analysis of spray phenomena.

  • An experimental and numerical analysis were conducted to investigate the transient temperature distribution and flame propagation characteristics over an inline polystyrene spheres under microgravity. From the experimental, a self-ignition temperature of polystyrene bead was 872 K under gravity. Flame spread rates were 4.7-5.1 mm/s with ambient gas N$_2$and 2.3-2.5 mm/s with ambient gas CO$_2$, respectively. Flame radius diameters were 17 mm with ambient gas N$_2$and 9.6 mm with ambient gas CO$_2$, respectively. These results suggest that the flame propagation speed could be affected in the Diesel engine and the boiler combustor by EGR. In terms of the flame spread rate and the transient temperature profile, numerical results have the qualitative agreement with the experiment.

디젤기관의 실린더내 유동 및 분무액적 거동의 수치적 연구(I) (A Study on the Numerical Analysis of Behavior of Spray Droplets and Internal Flow Field of Cylinder in Diesel Engine)

  • In this study, we calculated gas flow fields and distribution of fuel droplet and mass fraction using the CONCHAS-SPRAY code which modified to execute in IBM PC and changed three important factors, injection rate pattern (BASIC, I, II, III), different bowl shape and spray type. Especially vortices which be influenced by fuel-air mixing process, evaporation and flame propagation are generated more strongly in the bowl-piston type combustion chamber than in the flat-piston type. As the spray type changes, it is found that conical type produced large and strong vortices and fuel droplets are effictively diffused into the entire combustion chamber. As the injection rate pattern changes I, II, III based on BASIC type, we confirmed that End-of-Injection Effect strongly influence on droplets life time.

인가전압이 디젤 피에조 인젝터의 분무 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Induced Voltage on Spray Characteristics of Piezo Actuated Diesel Injector)

  • A piezo-driven injector was applied with a purpose to evaluate the effect of induced voltage on spray characteristics. For this, injection rate, macroscopic imaging, ambient gas entrainment and particle sizing were carried out. It was shown that initial slope of injection rate was steeper as induced voltage increased, while slope of injection rate became mostly constant with fully opened needle. From macroscopoic imaging, longer spray tip penetration was produced with higher induced voltage. Moreover, wider spray angle was detected in the early stage of spray development, when higher induced voltage was applied. Ambient air entrainment rate was increased and particle size was reduced with higher induced voltage.

극초고압 디젤 자유분무의 미시적 분무특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Microscopic Spray Characteristics of Free Spray of Diesel with Ultra High Pressure)

  • In order to analyze the microscopic spray characteristics of free spray in ultra high pressure region, the droplets size and velocity of free spray injected under atmosphere condition were measured by PDPA. As injection pressure became ultra high pressure, the droplets size was decreased continuously due to the increase of mutual reaction between droplets and air. But the decreasing rate became moderate. The velocity was increased until 250 MPa, and then decreased over that of injection pressure. It was seemed that the droplet size was similar in range of $280\~350\;MPa$, but increased in 414 MPa, even though injection pressure was increased. The microscopic spray characteristics of free spray got worse in 414 MPa.

스프레이형 스크러버의 배출가스에 포함된 액적의 제어방법에 관한 전산해석적 연구 (Computational Analysis on the Control of Droplet Entrained in the Exhaust from the Spray Type Scrubber system)

  • 선박용 디젤엔진에서 배출되는 황산화물(SOx)은 건강과 자연에 대해 악영향을 끼친다. 선박운항이 많은 지역별로 전 세계 곳곳에서는 황산화물 배출규제지역(SECA)을 설정하여 엄격한 배출규제를 설정하여 관리를 강화하고 있는 데 선박으로부터 배출되는 황산화물을 줄이기 위한 방법으로 습식스크러버(wet scrubber)의 적용이 확대되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 분무형 습식스크러버의 유동 내부에서 이루어지는 액체의 운동을 모사하기 위한 수치적 모델을 구성하여 전산유동역학적 방법을 이용하여 액적의 거동을 해석하였다. 실제 습식스크러버 적용 시 문제가 되는 액적의 캐리오버(carry over) 문제를 개선하기 위한 방법을 모색하는 것을 특별주제로 하여 스크러버의 배기부에 굽은 판형 액적제거기(wave plate mist eliminator)를 설치하여 액적의 캐리오버 감소효과를 검토하였다. 전산해석은 총 두 단계로 이루어졌는데, 1차적으로 액적제거기가 없는 기본 스크러버에 대해서 해석을 실시하여 스크러버에서 배출되는 기본적인 캐리오버 양을 확인하고, 다음으로 액적제거기를 부착하여 개선효과를 계산하고 비교하였다. 해석결과, 기본형상에서 비산되는 액적은 제안된 분포의 액적 양의 42.0%가 출구로 비산되었으며, 액적 제거기를 설치한 후에는 비산되는 액적은 제안된 분포의 액적 양의 3.4%로 감소함으로서 액적 제거기의 설치로 인해 비산되는 액적이 감소효과를 확인할 수 있었다.

LES 해석에서 액체제트의 분열에 대한 확률론적 분열 모델링 비교 (Stochastic Model Comparison for the Breakup and Atomization of a Liquid Jet using LES)

  • 난류 유동장으로 분사되는 두가지 형태의 액체 제트 (수평분사는 디젤연료와 수직분사는 물)의 액주 분열과 미립화 현상에 관한 이상(Two-phase) 유동에 대해 3차원 LES 수치해석을 수행하였다. 기체상태의 공기 유동은 오일러리안 해법을 사용하고, 액체 제트의 액적 추적은 라그랑지안 해법을 사용하여 기체-액체간 이상유동 해석을 수행하였다. 두 종류의 확률론적 분열 모델(Stochastic breakup model)을 사용하여 액적 분열을 모사하였으며, 액체제트의 침투깊이와 액적 분포(Sauter Mean Diameter)를 실험결과와 비교하여 미세하게 분열되는 액체 제트의 분열 현상에 대해 확률론적 분열 모델링의 적합성을 제시하였다.
