  • The Low dielectric properties of epoxy/Annealing $SiO_2$ composites using Annealing new material of nanosized amorphous particles were investigated as function frequency, temperature and filler contents composition. The dielectric constant decrease with increasing frequency and also increase with increasing ambient temperature. The dielectric constant decrease with increase annealing filler contents for epoxy base. The result of x-ray diffraction could obtained single crystal of annealing $SiO_2$ from 500nm amorphous $SiO_2$ powder.

  • Spectroscopic ellipsometry is an excellent technique for determining dielectric function. To obtain critical point energy, standard analytic critical point expression is used conventionally for second derivatives of dielectric function which might increase high frequency noise than signal. However, reciprocal-space analysis offers several advantages for determining critical point parameters in optical and other spectra, for example the separation of baseline, information, and high frequency noise in low-, medium-, high-index Fourier coefficient, respectively. We used reciprocal Fourier analysis for removing noise and determining critical point of ZnCdSe alloy.

  • Spectroscopic ellipsomerty measurements of the complex dielectric function of the CdTe thin films grown on GaAs(100) substrates by hot wall epitaxy have been performed in 1.5${\~}$5.5 eV photon energy range at room temperature. The spectroscopic ellipsometer spectra revealed distinct structures at energies of the $E_l,\;E_1+{\Delta}_1$, and $E_2$ critical points. These energies were decreased with increasing thickness of CdTe thin films.

  • The dielectric layers in AC plasma display panel(AC PDP) are essential to the discharge cell structure, because they protect metal electrodes from sputtering by positive ion bombarding in discharge plasma and form a sheath of wall charges which are essential to memory function of AC PDP. This layer should have high dielectric strength and also be transparent because the luminance of PDP is strongly correlated this layer. In this paper, we discussed the dielectric strength and transparency of the dielectric layer under various conditions. As a result, on the $15{\mu}m$ thickness, the minimum dielectric strength was $29V/{\mu}m$ and the transmittance coefficient was about 80% after $570^{\circ}C$ firing process. It can be proposed that the resonable dielectric thickness in AC PDP is $15{\mu}m$ because it has about 80V margin on the maximum applied voltage.

  • An alkoxide-based sol-gel method was used to fabricate $Ba_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}TiO_{3}$thin films doped by Bi from 5 to 20 mol% on a Pt/Ti/$SiO_2$/Sisubstrate. The structural and dielectric properties of BST thin films were investigated as a function of Bi dopant concentration. The dielectric properties of the Bi doped BST films were strongly dependent on the Bi contents. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the films decreased with increasing Bi content. However, the leakage current density of the 10 mol% Bi doped $Ba_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}TiO_{3}$ thin film showed the lowest value of 5.13$\times 10^{-7} A/{cm}^2$ at 5 V. The figure of merit (FOM) reached a maximum value of 32.42 at a 10 mol% Bi doped $Ba_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}TiO_{3}$thin films. The dielectric constant, loss factor, and tunability of the 10 mol% Bi doped $Ba_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}Tio_{3}$ thin films were 333, 0.0095, and 31.1%, respectively.

  • The dielectric and electrical characteristics of Ce doped (Ba0.6Sr0.4)TiO3 (BST) thin films were investigated as a function of Ce content. Both atomic force microscopy (AFM) and x-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis showed that increasing the Ce doping ratio causes the decrease in grain size while the surface remains smooth and crack-free. The dielectric properties of the Ce doped BST films were found to be strongly dependent on the Ce contents. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the BST films decreased with increasing Ce content. However, it was also found that, compared with undoped films, the increase of Cecontent improves the leakage-current characteristics. The improvement of the electrical properties of Ce-doped BST films may be related to the decrease in the concentration of oxygen vacancies. The figure of merit (FOM) reached the maximum value of 48.9 at the 1 mol % of Cedoping. The dielectric constant, loss factor, and tunability of the 1 mol% Ce doped Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3 thin films were 320, 0.011, and 46.3%, respectively.

  • An alkoxide-based sol-gel method was used to fabricate $(Pb_{x},Sr_{1-x})$TiO3 (PST) thin films on a Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrate, and the dielectric properties of the PST thin films were investigated as a function of the Pb/Sr composition for use in tunable microwave device applications. The dielectric properties of the PST films were strongly dependent on the Pb/Sr ratio. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the PST films increased with increasing Pb content, and the figure of merit (FOM) reached a maximum value of 27.5 at a Pb/Sr ratio of 4:6. The tunability increased with increasing Pb content. The dielectric constant, loss factor, and tunability of PST (50/50) thin films were 404, 0.023, and 51.73%, respectively. From the result, the PST films with good dielectric properties are useful candidates for tunable microwave device.

  • Microstructures and dielectric properties of (Sr$\_$1-x/Ca$\_$x/) TiO$_3$-0.006Nb$_2$O$\_$5/ (0.05$\leq$x$\leq$0.2) boundary layer ceramics were investigated. The samples fired in a reducing atmosphere(N$_2$) were painted on the surface with CuO paste for the subsequent grain boundary diffusion, and then annealed at 1100$^{\circ}C$ for 2 hrs. The metal oxide of CuO infiltrated by thermal diffusion from surface of sample presents continuously in not grain but only grain boundary, and makes up thin boundary phase. The SEM photo, and EDAX revealed that CuO was penetrated rapidly into the bulk along the grain boundaries during the annealing. The average grain sizes is continuously increased as the content of substitutional Ca is increased from 5[mol%] to 15[mol%], but the average grain size of the sample with content of 20[mol%] Ca is slightly decreased. In the samples with content of 10∼15[mol%] Ca, excellent dielectric properties were obtained as follows; dielectric constant <25000, dielectric loss <0.3[%], and capacitance change rate as a function of temperature <${\pm}$10[%], respectively. All samples in this study exhibited dielectric relaxation with frequency as a functior of the temperature.
