Low Temperature Sintering and Piezoelectric Properties of PCW-PMN-PZT Ceramics with the Variation of Sintering Aids (소결조제 변화에 따른 PCW-PMN-PZT세라믹스의 저온소결 및 압전특성)

  • In this study, in order to develop the low temperature sintering ceramics for multilayer piezoelectric transformer, PCW-PMN-PZT ceramics added with Li$_2$CO$_3$, Bi$_2$O$_3$ and CuO as sintering aids were manufactured, and their microstructural, dielectric and piezoelectric properties were investigated. When the only CuO was added, specimens could not be sintered below 98$0^{\circ}C$. However, when Li$_2$CO$_3$ and Bi$_2$O$_3$ were added, specimens could be sintered below 98$0^{\circ}C$. Li$_2$CO$_3$ and Bi$_2$O$_3$ addition were proved to lower sintering temperature of piezoelectric ceramics due to the effect of Li$_2$O-Bi$_2$O$_3$ liquid phase. Li$_2$CO$_3$ and Bi$_2$O$_3$ added specimens showed higher piezoelectric properties than those of the only CuO added specimens. At 0.2 wt% Li$_2$CO$_3$ and 0.3 wt% Bi$_2$O$_3$ added specimen sintered at 92$0^{\circ}C$, the dielectric constant of 1457, electromechanical coupling factor of 0.56 and mechanical quality factor of 1000 were shown, respectively. These values are suitable for multilayer piezoelectric transformer application.

  • The dielectric and piezoelectric properties with compositions in Pb(Ni1/3Nb2/3)O3-PbTiO3-PbZrO3-(PNN-PT-PZ)solid solution ceramics were investigated. In this study, the compsition ranges were 30 PNN 45mole%, 20 PT 50mole% and 50 PZ5mole%. As PT fraction were increased the grain size was increased and the fired density was decreased, but the changes of PNN fraction had no effect on the grain size. The Curie temperature was increased when PT and PNN fraction were increased. The displacement was increased but had a great hysteresis loss when PT fraction was increased. In morphotropic phase boundary, the maximum piezoelectric and electromechanical coupling factor were indicated. Morphotropic phase boundary(MPB) was 34 PT 36mole% in chang of compositions.

  • In this study, dielectric and piezoelectric properties of 0.4[0.1Bi(Ni$\_$1/2/Ti$\_$1/2/)O$_3$0.9Pb(Ni$\_$1/3/Nb$\_$2/3/)O$_3$]-0.6(PbZr$\_$y/Ti$\_$1-y/)O$_3$ceramics with Zr/Ti ratio were observed. As a results, structure of the ceramics with ZrO$_2$(y) 0.425 and 0.45 was MPB. Electromechanical coupling coefficients k$\_$p/, k$\_$31/ of the BN$\_$162/ specimen were 57.2%, 35.6% and piezoelectric constants d$\_$33/, d$\_$31/ were 720, 298[x10$\_$-12/C/N).

  • Lead titanate powders were prepared by mixed-oxide and sol-gel method. O-3 composites were prepared with these powders using Eccogel polymer. According to the volume percent of the PbTiO$_3$ powders, dielectric, piezoelectric properties and poling conditions were investigated. Relative dielectric constants were exponentially increased with volume percent of PbTiO$_3$. Piezoelectric strain coefficients (d$_{33}$ ) were increased with volume percent of PbTiO$_3$. Figure of merit (d$_{h}$.g$_{h}$) for the O-3 composites prepared by the mixed-oxide and sol-gel method were 2728(x10$^{-15}$ $m^2$/N) and 3100(x10$^{-15}$ $m^2$/N) at 70 volume percent of PbTiO$_3$, respectively.ely.

  • In this paper, we manufactured Pb($Ni_{1/2}$ $W_{1/2}$)$O_3$-Pb($Mn_{1/3}$$Nb_{2/3}$)$O_3$-Pb($Zr_3$Ti)$O_3$ceramics with variation of milling time and investigated its dielectric and piezoelectric properties. Density was increased with the increase of milling time because the sinterability of specimens were improved with the decrease of particle size. The highest value of electromechanical coupling factor was 0.518 at milling time 5hour. The highest values of mechanical quality factor and dielectric constant were 1566, 1590 at milling time 4hour, respectively.

  • In this study, in order to develop the low temperature sintering ceramics for multilayer piezoelectric transformer, PCW-PMN-PZT ceramics using Li$_2$CO$_3$, Bi$_2$O$_3$, and CuO as sintering aids were manufactured according to the amount of MnO$_2$ addition. Their microstructural, dielectric and piezoelectric properties were investigated. When the sintering aids were added, specimens could be sintered below 95$0^{\circ}C$, but mechanical qualify factor decreased. Therefore, MnO$_2$ was added excessively to the PCW-PMN-PZT ceramics to increase mechanical quality factor. At the sintering temperature of 95$0^{\circ}C$, the density, dielectric constant($\varepsilon$$_{r}$), electromechanical coupling factor(k$_{p}$), mechanical quality factor(Q$_{m}$) and Curie temperature(T$_{c}$) of 0.1 wt% MnO$_2$ added specimen showed the optimal values of 7.75 g/㎤, 1503, 0.57, 1502, and 337, respectively, for multilayer piezoelectric transformer application.ation.n.

  • [ $0.96[Bio_{0.5}(Na_{0.84}K_{0.16})_{0.5}TiO_3]+0.04SrTiO_3+0.3wt%Nb_2O_5+0.2wt%La_2O_3+xwt%MnO_2$ ], were studied in order to develope the superior dielectric and piezoelectric properties of Lead-free Piezoelectric ceramics. With increasing amount of $MnO_2$ addition, density showed the maximum value of $5.79[gcm^3$] at 0.1wt% $MnO_2$ addition, and electromechanical coupling factor($k_p$) and dielectric constant decreased, and mechanical quality factor($Q_m$) increased and showed the maximum value of 161 at 0.3wt% $MnO_2$ addition.

  • In this paper, $0.10Pb(Sb_{1/2}Sn_{1/2})O_3-0.25PbTiO_3-0.65PbZrO_3$ ceramics were fabricated by the mixed-oxide method. The sintering temperature and time were $1230^{\circ}C$ and 2[hr], respectively. The structural, dielectric and piezoelectric properties with addition of NiO were studied. The crystal structure of a specimen was rhombohedral. As a result of SEM, the average grain size were decreased with increasing the contents of NiO. But the grains of the specimens doped with 0.4wt% NiO were increased, due to deposits of excess NiO at grain boundaries in the liquid phase. Relative dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the specimen doped with 0.1wt% NiO were 701 and 0.026, respectively.

Influence of Effective Piezoelectric Properties on Performance of Piezoelectric Accelerometer for Vibration Measurements (진동 측정용 압전형 가속도센서의 압전특성 효과)

  • In order to investigate the performance of compression-type accelerometer on piezoelectric properties, PZT materials have been studied. The ring-shaped piezoelectric elements were prepared using commercial PZT powders by conventional ceramic process. Their estimated relative dielectric constant, piezoelectric charge constant (d33) and voltage constant (g33) values showed 390∼3400, (90∼593)×10-12 C/N and (19.5∼40.5)×10-3 V-m/N, respectively. The charge sensitivity of accelerometer is proportional to the piezoelectric charge constant value (d33) of PZT, but its voltage sensitivity is related with the piezoelectric voltage constant (g33). Since the mounted resonance frequency and sensitivity are dependent on the seismic mass as well as physical charateristics and size of PZT elements, the suitable considerations between two components are required for accelerometer's design.

  • Poling piezoelectric ceramic-polymer composites with 0-3connectivity is difficult because of the high dielectric constant of most of the ferroelectric filler materials, and the high resistivity of the polymer matrix. To aid in poling this type of composite, conductivity of the polymer phase can be controlled by adding small amount of a semiconductor phase such as germanium, carbon or silicon. In this study, flexible piezoelectric composites of $PbTiO_3$ powder and Eccogel polymer were developed using small amounts of a semiconducting phase. These composites were poled rapidly at low voltages, resulting in properties superior to composites prepared without a conductive phase. The effect of addition of various conductive phase with different volume percentage on the dielectric and piezoelectric properties of the composite are discussed here.
