Study on The Electrical Characteristic Extraction of PI(Poly Imide) Substrate using Capacitor Method (캐패시터를 이용한 PI (Poly Imide) 기판의 전기적 특성 추출에 관한 연구)

  • RF circuit을 구현하는데 있어서 기판의 전기적 특성을 정확하게 아는 것은 매우 중요하다. 왜냐하면 초고주파로 갈수록 기판의 전기적인 특성이 circuit에 많은 영향을 미치고 이러한 영향을 고려한 circuit를 설계해야 원하는 결과를 얻을 수 있기 때문이다. 본 연구에서는 현재 사용되고 있는 PI 기판의 전기적인 특성인 유효 유전율과 loss tangent 값을 캐패시터를 이용해 정확하게 측정하고자 했다. 캐패시터의 conductor material은 Cu를 사용하였고 PI 기판의 투께는 25um 를 이용하였다. PI 기판의 유효 유전율은 캐패시터 측정에 의한 data률 EM simulation tool 을 통해 분석한 후 간단한 수식에 의해 구했다. 또한 PI 기판의 loss tangent 값을 구하기 위해 캐패시터의 dissipation factor를 분석하였다. 캐패시터의 dissipation factor는 dielectric loss, AC 저항에 의한 loss, DC 저항에 의한 loss를 포함한다, DC 저항에 의한 loss는 dissipation factor에 차지하는 비율이 낮기 때문에 생략이 가능하다. 하지만 AC 저항에 의한 loss는 주파수에 비례하여 값이 커지게 된다. 따라서 주파수가 올라 갈수록 dissipation factor도 상승하게 되는데 주파수의 전 대역에서 AC 저항에 의한 loss를 보정해주면 dielectric loss를 얻을 수 있다. 추출된 dielectric loss를 통해 PI 기판의 loss tangent 값을 구하였다. 캐패시터를 이용한 PI 기판의 전기적 특성 추출은 간단한 구조를 통해 얻을 수 있기 때문에 다른 재료의 기판의 전기적 특성을 추출하는데도 이용이 용이하다.

  • Polymer substrate materials with low dielectric loss were obtained by fabricating the composite using dicyclopentadienyl bisphenol cyanate ester oligomer and polyphenylene ether (PPE). From the analysis of the curing reaction of oligomer and catalyst, it was observed that the optimum amount of catalyst was 0.02 phr of Zn content. It was applied to the fabrication of polymer composite. By changing oligomer/PPE weight ratio, the peel strength and the gel content of the fabricated composites were measured, and then, the dielectric constant and the dissipation factor were measured in the GHz frequency range. The amount of PPE affected the peel strength and the dielectric properties of composites. However, the amount of catalyst did not affect them at all. Resulting from all experiments, we obtained polymer composite laminates haying the peel strength of above 1 kN/m and the low dissipation factor of 0.004 at 1 GHz.

Variation in Properties of Seawater Flooded and Non-Flooded CSPE (해수범람 전·후의 CSPE 특성변화)

  • Chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSPE) was not flooded seawater and flooded seawater & freshwater for 5 days, respectively, and these samples are referred to as BSF(before seawater flooding) and ASFF(after seawater & freshwater flooding), respectively. The apparent density, dissipation factor, relative permittivity, melting temperature, dielectric breakdown time and increased time of applied voltage are higher than those of BSF, but the insulating resistance, dielectric strength, percent elongation and glass transition temperature of ASFF are lower than those of BSF. The differential temperature of those is $0.026{\sim}0.028(^{\circ}C)$ after AC and DC voltage is applied to ASFF, respectively, and the differential temperature of those is $0.013{\sim}0.037(^{\circ}C)$ after AC and DC voltage is applied to BSF, respectively. In the case AC and DC voltage is applied to ASFF as well as BSF, the variations in temperature of AC voltage are higher than those of DC voltage. It is investigated that dielectric loss due to dissipation factor ($tan{\delta}$) is related to electric dipole conduction current. It is certain that the ionic (electron or hole) leakage current was increased by conducting ions such as $Na^+$, $Cl^-$, $Mg^{2+}$, $SO_4^{2-}$, $Ca^{2+}$ and $K^+$, those are related to cured atoms of O and S that relatively increased after seawater flooding.

  • Cure monitoring can be used to improve the quality and productivity of thermosetting resin matrix composite products during their manufacturing process. In this work, the sensitivity of dielectrometry was improved by adequate separation the efforts of sensor and externals on the measured signal. A new algorithm to obtain the degree of cure during dielectric cure monitoring of glass/polyester and glass/epoxy composites was developed by employing a function of both temperature and dissipation factor, in which five cure monitoring parameters were used to calculate the degree of cure. The decreasing pattern of dissipation factor was compared with the relationships between the degree of cure and the resin viscosity. The developed algorithm might be employed for the in situ cure monitoring of thermosetting resin composites.

The Effect of NiO and $MnO_2$ Addition on the Dielectric Piezoelectric and Polarization-Reversal Properties of PLZT (NiO와 $MnO_2$ 의 첨가가 PLZT의 유전특성과 압전특성 및 분극반전특성에 미치는 효과)

  • Effect of NiO and $MnO_2$ addtivies on the dielectric piezoelectrics and polarization-reversal properties of $(Pb_{0.936} La_{0.064})$$(Zr_{0.60}Ti_{0.40})O_3$ ceramics have been investigated. The specimens were prepared by the mixed oxide techni-que and atmosphere sintering method. The room temperature X-ray diffraction studies show that perfect perovskite solution with tetragonal structure was obtained from PLZT and its additives. The dielectric constant and dissipation factor decreased with the addition of both NiO and $MnO_2$ The Curie of Curie temperature was not observed but they displayed broadened maxima. The planar coupling factor was improved by addition of NiO and also increased with increasing sintering time carried out at 105$0^{\circ}C$ Addition of $MnO_2$ yielded a markedly high mechanical quality factor. The space-charge field decreased with the addition of NiO but increased with the addition of $MnO_2$ The planar coupling factor and space-charge field showed same dependence on the additivies. The tetragonality Curie temperature and planar coupling factor of $(Pb_{0.936} La_{0.064})$$(Zr_{0.60}Ti_{0.40})O_3$ were higher than those of $(Pb_{0.936} La_{0.064})$$(Zr_{0.568}NU_{0.032}Ti_{0.40})_{0.984}O_3$ but the grain size lattic parameter dielectric constant dissipation factor mechanical quality factor and space-charge field of the former were lower than those of the latter.

  • The microstructure, electrical and dielectric characteristics of ZnO varistors were investigated at various metal oxide (NiO, MgO, and Cr$_2$O$_3$) additives. The average grain size was increased with addition of NiO while that was decreased with addition of Cr$_2$O$_3$-Thereby, the varistor voltage was higher in Cr$_2$O$_3$-added composition. Among varistors, the varistor added with Cr$_2$O$_3$ exhibited the highest nonlinearity, with 40.5 in the nonlinear exponent and 2.7 ${\mu}$A in the leakage current and its dielectric dissipation factor was relatively low value of 0.0589.

  • In this paper, a study is carried out to investigate the dielectric, physical and chemical properties of Palm Oil (PO) and Coconut Oil (CO) under open thermal ageing condition. The type of PO used in this study is Refined Bleached and Deodorized Palm Oil (RBDPO) Olein. The ageing experiment was carried out at 85 ℃ and 115 ℃ for 1, 3, 5, 7 and 14 days. Several parameters were measured such as AC breakdown voltage, dielectric dissipation factor, relative permittivity, resistivity, viscosity, moisture and acidity throughout the ageing duration. Based on the study, it is found that there are no significant changes on the AC breakdown voltages and relative permittivities for both RBDPO and CO. At ageing temperature of 115℃, there are clear reduction trends of dielectric dissipation factor for CO and resistivities for most of RBDPO. On the other hand, no clear trends are observed for viscosities, moisture and acidities of RBDPO and CO throughout the ageing duration.

  • The $[(Pb_{1-x}$La_{2x/3})TiO_3$, X=0.2] powder was synthesized by the hydrothermal method, and their sintering and dielectric properties according to Mn additive were examined. The relative density of sintered PLT specimen at $1150^{\circ}C$ for 5 hrs with Mn 0.02 mol% additive was 96.7%. The dielectric properties of sintered PLT specimen were changed by content of Mn and increacement of sintering temperature. Dissipation factor was improved by increasing of measuring temperature. Curie temperature of sintered PLT specimens was decreased with increasing of Mn additive.

  • [ $BaTi_4O_9$ ] thin film were grown on $Pt/Ti/SiO_2/Si$ substrate using rf magnetron sputter, and the microstructure and dielectric properties of the thin films were investigated. For the film grown at $350^{\circ}C$ and rapidly thermal annealed at $900^{\circ}C$, the $BaTi_5O_{11}$ Phase was formed. However, the $BaTi_4O_9$ phase was formed when the growing temperature exceeded $450^{\circ}C$ The dielectric constant of the $BaTi_4O_9$ thin film grown at $550^{\circ}C$ and rapidly thermal annealed at $900^{\circ}C$ was about 40 at low frequency range($100kHz{\sim}1MHz$) and 36 at microwave range($1{\sim}10GHz$) which is very close to that of the bulk $BaTi_4O_9$ phase. The dissipation factor was very low, about 0.005 at low frequency as well as microwave range.

  • A Modified equivalent circuit by combining a series and parallel of polymer matrix for estimating the dielectric constant ${\bar{K}}_{33}$ values changing the volume percent of $PbTiO_3$, the dependences of frequency for the 713 and dissipation factor for 0 - 3 composites was derived. The difference of the dielectric constant and dissipation factor between the calculated and measured values became smaller at higher volume percent of $PbTiO_3$. There was, good agreement between the calculated and observed results for 70 volume percent of $PbTiO_3$ and 30 volume percent of Eccogel composite at 1(KHz), 25($^{\circ}C$). The optimized variable x was 0.94 in $PbTiO_3$ ceramics. $PbTiO_3$ powder and Eccogel polymer were used as piezoelectric fillers and matrix, respectively.
