다점 핀포인트 금형에서 균형충전이 가능한 사출금형 구조 (On the new mold structure with multi-point gate for filling-balance mold)

  • Almost all injection molds have multi-cavity runner system for mass production, which are designed with geometrically balanced runner system in order to accomplish filling balance between cavity to cavity during processing. However, even though geometrically balanced runner is used, filling imbalance have been observed. Filling imbalance could be decreased by modifying processing conditions such as injections rate, mold temperature, injection pressure, melt temperature that are related to shear, viscosity. In this study, a series of experiment was conducted to investigate filling imbalance variation when modifying runner layout and ploymer and to determine which processing condition influences as the primary cause of filling imbalance in geometrically balanced runner system. The filling imbalance was desreased up to result range of $3{\leq}DFI{\leq}8(%)$ by using a new runner system for balanced filling.

  • Almost all injection molds have multi-cavity runner system for mass production, which are designed with geometrically balanced runner system in order to accomplish filling balance between cavity to cavity during processing. However, even though geometrically balanced runner is used, filling imbalances have been observed. So, many studies for improving filling balance in the multi-cavities molds are worked up. In this study, the Melt-Buffer which is a new runner system for filling balance has been suggested, and a series of experiment about degree of filling balance in cavity-to-cavity was conducted in the mold with the Melt-Buffer. From the experiment, the filling balance was increased up to $5^{\sim}6%$ by using the Melt-Buffer.

  • Using a simple compression test, the viscosity measurement experiment is carried out with the grain-refined Al-Si alloy(A356). The measured rheological data are expressed with power-law(Ostwald-de Waele) model and using commercial package, MAGMAsoft, coefficients of Ostwald-de Waele model and Carreau-Yasuda model are calculated. To verify the viscosity data, the die is designed to be applicable to the semi-solid die casting of automotive component and filling test is carried out. The filling test and the simulation result are compared and in good agreement. Hereafter, these data are considered to be usefully allied other product in the semi-solid die casting.

  • Recently, the study for filling imbalance in thermoplastic polymer has gradually been increased. However, it is hard to find the researches for filling imbalance of thermoplastic elastomer(TPE). The experiment of filling imbalance was conducted for the three kinds of thermoplastic vulcanizes(TPVs) and PP polymer in the mold with geometrically balanced runner system(Unary Branch Type Runner System). In this experiment, the effects of the melt temperature, injection pressure and injection speed on the filling imbalance were investigated. There was also the imbalance in TPV injection molding process as well as in conventional injection molding with plastics. The tendency of filling imbalance in TPV injection molding specially decreased by taking place the hesitation of TPV melt.

  • Filling of the tool die directly influences dimensional tolerances and density variation. To minimize the variations in filling, both within different sections of the cavity and from part to part, are of great importance for produce high quality P/M parts. Filling of the tool die is also one of the limiting factors in the productivity in powder pressing. By using aeration filling in combination with bonded powder mixes, both weight scatter and productivity can be improved. In this presentation results are presented showing the benefit of using aeration filling for different types of powders

  • A new forming technology has been developed to fabricate near-net shape components by using aluminum alloys with globular microstructure. The estimations of filling characteristic in the forging simulation with arbitrarily shaped dies of SSM are calculated by finite element method with proposed algorithm. The proposed model and various boundary conditions for arbitrarily shaped die are investigated with the coupling calculation between the liquid phase flow and the solid phase deformation. The simulation processes with arbitrarily shaped dies are performed on the isothermal conditions and axisymmetric problems. To analyze the forging process simulation with SSM, new stress-strain relationship for semi-solid behaviour is described, and forging the liquid flow. Furthermore, For the purpose of getting net shape of SSM, it is important to be obtain a solid fraction in forging process with arbitrarily shaped dies. To produce a automotive part which have good mechanical properties, the filling pattern in accordance with die velocity and solid fraction distribution has to be estimated for arbitrarily shaped die.

  • For mass production of plastics, injection molds have multi-cavities. However, filling imbalance between cavity to cavity always has occurred in multi-cavities mold, and this has caused low quality of plastics part. In this study, the closed-loop-control system which can control temperature of hot manifold and nozzle in hot runner mold for filling balance has been suggested, and a series of experiment about difference of filling time and weight in cavity-to-cavity was conducted. As a result of using closed-loop-control system, a remarkable improvement in reducing filling imbalance was confirmed.

  • Aspect of filling imbalance that is originated from imbalanced share rate in runner is changed by material property, runner layout that are factors of changing viscosity and by injection pressure, injection speed, melt temperature and mold temperature that are injection conditions. In this paper, we made a study of runner system that is one of factor of filling imbalance and Sharp Conner Effect and Groove Corner Effect that are recently released. The study are showed that filling rate of between inside and outside cavity was influenced on shape of runner. Also, we suggested runner system for filling imbalance by adapting the two effects at multi cavity of unary branch type and theoretical investigated flow in the Shrap Conner runner type.
