사각 빌렛 자유단조시 내부기공폐쇄거동 유한요소해석 (FEM Analysis of Void Closure Behavior during Open Die Forging of Rectangular Billets)

  • Finite element analysis of open die forging process to make rectangular billet has been performed in this study. Three dimensional rigid-plastic finite element method was used to analyze the effects of process variables, forging pass design and die configurations on the void closure phenomena to maximize the internal deformation for better structural homogeneity and center-line consolidation of the rectangular billet. The effect of anvil width ratio, anvil pitch, anvil shape and number of pass has been estimated by the degree of void closure ratio. Although it is difficult to optimize process parameters in the operational environments, favourable process conditions are suggested for better product quality.

금형의 표면정도와 가공방향에 따른 판재의 마찰특성 (Friction Characteristics of Sheets for The Surface Finish and The Stoning Directions of the Dies)

  • This paper investigates the combined effects of parameters such as die surface finish, die directionality of stoning contact pressure and draw speed on the resulting coefficient of friction. Also, this study show the correlation between the NN(Neural Network) and DOE(Design of Experiments) to reduce the number of experiments without the loss of the effects of parameter upon coefficient of friction. The experiments were run in random order with at least three replicates. It was found that the directional stoning orthogonal to the pulling direction is lower friction than directional stoning parallel to the pulling directi on using FCD55 die and SPCEN.

  • As the demands for lightweight construction and precision grow, there is an increasing interest on hydroforming technology. This paper deals with designing automobile subframe for applying welded blanks hydroforming. In applying welded blanks hydroforming to automobile subframe, it is a serious problem that blanks wrinkle in deformed shape. To suppress wrinklings in blanks, the sections of the die where blanks wrinkled is modified. In addition to this, it is intended that the sum of thickness variation about wrinkling regions be minimized. For this purpose, parameters for influencing formability are selected and evaluated using orthogonal array. Among these parameters, parameters having a major effect on formability are selected again. Using CCD(central composite design) with the selected parameters, response surface is build up and optimal design is performed.

  • Mg alloy is widely used for the IT, auto and consumer electronics industries. Semi-solid casting(SSC) of magnesium alloys is used to produce high quality components. SSC process is analogous with the injection molding of plastics. The high strength and low weight characteristics of magnesium alloys render the high-precision fabrication of thin-walled components with large surface areas. To produce thin-walled magnesium alloy parts, SSC process parameters on the quality of the finished product should be clearly studied. In this paper, to select optimal process parameters, Taguchi method is applied to the optimal design of the process parameters in the SSC process. The die temperature, injection velocity and barrel temperature of the SSC process are selected for the process parameters. The effectiveness of the optimal design is verified through the CAE software.

커먼레일 파이프 헤딩공정의 접힘결함 방지에 관한 연구 (A Study for Preventing Folding Defect of the Common Rail Pipe in Heading Process)

  • With the latest automobile technology, though the third generation common rail system requires high injection pressures up to 1,800bar, the next generation diesel engine is expected to require more higher pressures than the third generation. The common rail pipe requires higher strength because it is one of the parts in the common rail system, which is influenced directly by fuel under high pressure. Preform design is very important for preventing head of the common rail pipe from folding in the heading process. In this study, die angle, curvature, outer diameter of die and length of trapped part are selected as main parameters to obtain best preform shape minimizing radius of folding. Therefore optimal design is carried out by finite element analysis and Taguchi method through main parameters. Results of the finite element analysis have good agreements with those of the experiments in the actual field.

점진성형에서 표면거칠기에 영향을 미치는 공정 변수 (Effective Process Parameters on Surface Roughness in Incremental Sheet Metal Forming)

  • Incremental forming is a relatively novel sheet forming process, in which parts can be formed without the use of dedicated dies. In this paper, the influence of the process parameters (tool diameter, step size, feed rate, existence of a die, forming methods, and kinds of tool path) on surface roughness in the case in which parts are processed by incremental forming was discussed. Al 1050 material is used in the experiments. A table of orthogonal arrays is used to design the experiments and the ANOVA method is employed to statistically analyze the results. The obtained results show that the process parameters of tool diameter, step size, and the existence of a die have a significant effect on the surface roughness, whereas the feed rate, forming methods and kinds of tool path are insignificant.

원호필렛-인벌류트 스퍼어 기어의 밀폐단조에 관한 상계해석 (An Upper-Bound Analysis for Closed-Die Forging of the Involute Spur Gears with Circular Arc Fillet)

  • Closed-die forging of the spur gears with circular are fillet has been analyses by using the upper-bound method. A kinematically admissible velocity field has been developed, wherein, the tooth profile consists of the involute curve and the circular arc fillet. In the analysis, the deformation regions have been divided into eight zones. A constant frictional stress has been assumed on the contacting surfaces Utilizing the formulated velocity field, numerical calculations have been carried out to investigate the effects of various parameters, such as module, number of teeth, addendum modification coefficient and friction factor, on the relative forging pressure of spur gears. As the result of numerical calculations, the relative forging pressure does not change so much against the variation of module. On the other hand, the relative forging pressure increases at the final filling stage as the addendum modification coefficient increases.

  • 본 연구에서는 고속, 연속장업으로 이루어지고 있는 스템핑 공정에서 금형과 강판간의 접촉-슬립에 따른 마찰 및 윤활특성의 성능을 평가할 수 있도록 한 원형단면 형상의 드로오비드 마찰실험장치를 활용하여 가압력, 윤활유 특성, 드로잉 속도와 강 판의 표면특성 등에 따른 자동차용 냉연강판과 도금강판의 마찰계수와 드로오비드 저 항력에 대한 테이터 베이스를 구축하고자 한다.

  • An analytic model for the optimum design of the power MOSFET considering the degradation of the breakdown voltage by the three dimensional effect is proposed. The proposed method gives the optimum design parameters such as the lateral radius of window curvature and the doping concentration of the epi-layer, which does not minimize the on-resistance but also maintains the required breakdown voltage. The analytical results are verified by the quasi 3D simulation tools, MEDICI, and it is found that the proposed method may be a good guideline for the design of power MOSFET.

자동차 패널용 헤밍 금형설계를 위한 타이밍차트 자동생성 (Automatic Generation of Timing Chart for Car Panel Hemming Die Design)

  • The inner and outer car panels for bonnet, door, and trunk lid are assembled by hemming rather than welding. To achieve successful fabrication of these panels, the complicated timing chart of hemming units for pre-and main hemming stages should be made to optimal one. In this study, a design system for automatic timing chart generation is developed. Using AutoCAD VBA and EXCEL data chart, hemming die design parameters and guidelines were put into the program to give hemming unit drawings and consequent timing charts. Then the prepared timing charts were checked and modified. The effectiveness of the system is verified by applying it successfully to hemming unit design for bonnet panel joining.
