Flupyrazofos (O,O-diethyl O-1-phenyl-3-trifluoromethylpyrazo-5-yl phosphorothioate) is an organophosphorus insecticide with a pyrazole moiety which is newly developed and commercialized by SUNGBO chemical company and Korean Research Institute of Chemical Technology for effectively control against diamond back moth. This study was conducted to determine the composition and quantity of impurities in technical 1 (94.5%), technical 2 (97.6%) and purified (99.2%) flupyrazofos using GLC/MSD. Bimolecular inhibition rate constant($k_i$) with acethylcholinesterase (in vitro) and $I_{50}$ with mouse brain acetylcholinesterase (in vivo) were measured for comparing inhibitory patterns of two technicals and purified flupyrazofos. Impurities of flupyrazofos were identified as O,O,O-triethylthio-phosphoric acid (TEA), 1-phenyl-3-trifluoromethyl-5-ethoxy pyrazole(PTMEP), O,O-diethyl O-1-phenyl-3-trifluoromethylpyrazo-5-yl phosphoric acid ester(flupyrazofos oxen), O,S-diethyl O-1-phenyl-3-trifluoromethylpyrazo-5-yl phosphorothionate (S-ethyl flupyrazofos). In in vitro, technical 1 showed the fastest inhibition on AChE activity among them. And technical 1 and 2 showed 40% higher in vivo inhibition against mouse brian AChE than purified flupyrazofos did. These results could be caused by the impurities such as flupyrazofos oxen and S-methyl flupyrazofos contained in technical grades of flupyrazofos.
The purpose of this study was to observe the effect of dentin surface conditioners on the dentin surfaces. Freshly extracted human molars were used in this study. They were stored at $4^{\circ}C$ saline solution before experiment. The crown portions of the teeth were cut in various directions by means of wet diamond point to expose dentin which include transverse, vertical oblique, horizontal and oblique cut to the long axis (Fig. 1). Each tooth was then mounted with self curing acrylic resin in brass ring to expose the flattened dentin surfaces. Final finish was accomplished by grinding the dentin specimens with wet No. 180 and No. 600 grit silicon carbide abrasive paper until a 6.0mm in diameter on a dentin surface was exposed without pulp exposure. The specimens were divided into 9 groups according to the modes of dentin treatment procedure. The following surface treatments were applied on these preparation surfaces; Group 1: unetched (control group) after finish with No. 600 silicon carbide abrasive paper. Group 2: etched with 30% phosphoric acid for 60s Group 3: etched with 10-3 solution for 60s Group 4: Cleaned with 5% NaOCl for 30s Group 5: applied Dentin Adhesit Group 6: cleaned with 5% NaOCl followed by applying the Dentin Adhesit$^{(R)}$ Group 7: applied Photo Bond on the unetched dentin followed by applying the Photo Clearfil Bright Group 8: Etched with 30% phosphoric acid followed by applying Photo Bond and Photo Clearfil Bright Group 9: etched with 10-3 solution followed by applying Photo Bond and Photo Clearfil Bright All the specimens were stored in $37^{\circ}C$ under 50% relative humidity for 24 hours before observations. The specimens in 7, 8, and 9 group, omitting the group 1 to 6, were demineralized in 10% HCl for 10s in order to observe the resin tags. All the specimens in each group were then dried at room temperature. The dried specimens were ion coated with Eiko ion coater (Eiko-engineering Co.), and observed in Hitachi S-430 Scanning electron microscope (Hitachi, Co. Tokyo) at 15KV. The following results were obtained as follows; 1. The smear layers were still remained in group 1,2,4,5, and 6. 2. There is no effect of 5% NaOCl and 30% phosphoric acid on the changes of dentin morphology 3. The dentin treated with 10-3 solution, indicating the tubules opened when the smear layer and the dental plug dissolved. 4. In case of applying the bonding agents the resin tag was not formed at the deep area of dentinal tubules, but in case of applying the Dentin Adhesit$^{(R)}$ that was not.
The use of flowable composite resins as liners in class II packable composite restoration has been suggested by some manufacturers. However, the contributions of this technique are unproven. The purpose of this study was to compare the gingival microleakage in class II packable composite restorations with or without the use of flowable composite resins as liners. Slot cavities were prepared on both proximals of 80 extracted human molars and randomly assigned to 8 groups of 20 each. The gingival margins were located at 1mm above CEJ in 80 cavities (group1-4) and 1mm below CEJ in 80 cavities (group5-8). The prepared teeth were mounted in the customized tray with adjacent teeth to simulate clinical conditions and metallic matrix band (Sectional matrix) and wooden wedges were applied. After acid etching and application of Single Bond, each group was restored with the following materials using incremental placement technique: Group 1,5 (Filtek P60), group 2, 3, 4 and group 6, 7, 8 (AeliteFlo, TetricFlow, Revolution/ Filtek P60). All specimens were thermocycled 500 times between 5$^{\circ}C$ and 55$^{\circ}C$ with 1 mimute dwell time, immersed 2% methylene blue dye for 24 hours and then rinsed with tab water. The specimens were embedded in clear resin and sectioned longitudinally through the center of restoration with a low speed diamond saw. Dye penetration at gingival margin was viewed at 20 magnification and analyzed on a scale of 0 to 4. Kruscal-Wallis One way analysis and Mann-Whitney Rank sum test were used to analyze the results. The results of this study were as follows. 1. The leakage values seen at the enamel margin were significantly lower than those seen at the dentin margin(P<0.05). 2. On the enamel margin, packable composite resins with flowable liners showed lower leakage than those without flowable liners, but there were no significant differences among the four groups(P>0.05). 3. On the dentin margin, four groups demonstrated moderate to severe leakage, and there were no significant differences in leakage values(P>0.05).

The purpose of this study was to compare the apical microleakage in root canal filled with Resilon by methacrylate-based root canal sealer or 2 different self-adhesive resin cements. Seventy single-rooted extracted human teeth were sectioned at the CEJ perpendicular to the long axis of the roots with diamond disk. Canal preparation was performed with crown-down technique using Profile NiTi rotary instruments and GG drill. Each canal was prepared to ISO size 40, .04 taper and 1 mm short from the apex. The prepared roots were randomly divided into 4 experimental groups of 15 roots each and 5 roots each for positive and negative control group. The root canals were filled by lateral condensation as follows. Group 1: Guttapercha with AH-26, Group 2: Resilon with RealSeal primer & sealer, Group 3: Resilon with Rely-X Unicem, Group 4: Resilon with BisCem. After stored in $37{\circ}C$, 100% humidity chamber for 7 days, the roots were coated with 2 layers of nail varnish except apical 3 mm. The roots were then immersed in 1% methylene blue dye for 7 days. Apical microleakage was measured by a maximum length of linear dye penetration after roots were separated longitudinally. One way ANOVA and Scheffe's post-hoc test were performed for statistical analysis. Group 1 showed the least apical leakage and there was no statistical significance between Group 2, 3, 4. According to the results, the self adhesive resin cement is possible to use as sealer instead of primer & sealant when root canal filled by Resilon.
This test has been carried out to clear the effectiveness of pyrethroid insecticides to the Diamond back moth, that was complained by a farmer. The results obtained are summarized as follows. Effectiveness of Pyrethroids to suceptable strain and the results of chemical anaysis on the ingredients of pyrethroikds were normal at recommended concentrations. The effect ualue of pyrethroid by which the blocks were only one time treated was 57-59%, whereas the blocks sprayed 4 consecutive times of pyrethroid didn't show any effectiveness as shown in larval increasing rate of 489-552%. Among the results of field test conducted from 1990 to 1991 at 7 area, Dae Gu area showed the highest Effectiveness as 95-98%. However, Pyong Taek area, showed the least effectiveness as 0% in effect value. The resistant population which was collected at Tae kwan Ryung area was resurrected susceptability as much as JMC, in case of Placing it in non-treatment environment, whereas the pupulation which was revealed to pyrethroids for 6 genetations showed as much as 341-544 times of resistance compared with JMC. The non-effectiveness of pyrethroids to Diamondback moth which was complainted by a certain farmer named Mr Ju, was clearly resulted by the development of insect resistance. In Korea, the resistance of Diamondback moth to pyrethroids has developed in some area, as well as the resistance of pyrethroids has developed according to the continuous use of Insecticides, and the susceptability resurrected by stopping the use of pyrethroids. The result from this test would suggest that the pyrethroid insecticides should be applied in turb with other insecticides.

This study intended to improve traffic safety in work zones using fluorescent orange color traffic signs. For this end, the current problems of existing traffic signs and facilities in work zones were analyzed and some good examples of foreign countries were compared. More specifically, in order to identify current problems, the basic shape and color of traffic signs in use were examined through literature review, surveys and field studies. It was found that the fluorescent color worked more effectively than other colors in terms of visibility and conspicuity in work zone sign system. For evaluation, both Conspicuity surveys and in-door simulator experiments were conducted to effectively assess the merits and demerits of different types of traffic signs for work zones. The results of evaluations showed that black lettering on a fluorescent orange background outperformed more than 70% in terms of visibility and ability to call drivers' attention compared with those from black/red lettering on yellow/white backgrounds currently used at work zones on expressways and national highways. In addition, simulated driving experiment disclosed that drivers recognized the fluorescent orange background sign 15m ahead compared with the yellow background sign and 25m ahead compared with the white background sign, respectively. As for the diamond-shaped "Under Construction" sign, drivers recognized fluorescent orange background 11m ahead compared with the yellow background sign and 19m ahead compared with the white background sign, respectively.
Motion estimation (ME) plays an important role in digital video compression. But it limits the performance of image quality and encoding speed and is computational demanding part of the encoder. To reduce computational time and maintain the image quality, integer pel and fractional pel ME methods are proposed in this paper. The proposed method for integer pel ME uses a hierarchical search strategy. This strategy method consists of symmetrical cross-X pattern, multi square grid pattern, diamond patterns. These search patterns places search points symmetrically and evenly that can cover the overall search area not to fall into the local minimum and to reduce the computational time. The proposed method for fractional pel uses full search pattern, center biased fractional pel search pattern and the proposed search pattern. According to block sizes, the proposed method for fractional pel decides the search pattern adaptively. Experiment results show that the speedup improvement of the proposed method over Unsymmetrical cross Multi Hexagon grid Search (UMHexagonS) and Full Search (FS) can be up to around $1.2{\sim}5.2$ times faster. Compared to image quality of FS, the proposed method shows an average PSNR drop of 0.01 dB while showing an average PSNR gain of 0.02 dB in comparison to that of UMHexagonS.
These studies were conducted to investigate overwintering forms and adult population fluctuation in field condition, and life cycle in field-cage condition of diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella (L.). Plutella xylostella overwintered as all the stages of eggs, larvae, pupae and adults in southern region of Korea. The occurrence which adult moths were attracted by light trap at 5-day intervals, reached their peaks in May, mid-June to mid-July, and late September to early November, and fell in late July to mid-September. Under field-cage condition, they occurred 10-11 generations a year and the period of adult emergence from egg was 11-18 days in July and August, 19-23 days in June and September, 28-34 days in April, May and October, and about 50-100 days in other months. And the longevities of adults were 4-11 days in summer, 7-17 days in spring and fall. A number of eggs laid by individual female ranged from 50 to 240. The females laid more eggs in spring and fall than they did in summer. The period of developmental stages under field-cage conditions was 2-3 days for eggs, 7-8 days for larvae and 4-6 days for pupae in July and August; 4-5 days for eggs, 3-12 days for larvae and 6-8 days for pupae in June and September; 6-18 days for eggs, 13-20 days for larvae and 8-14 days for pupae in March, April, May and October; and 12-40 days for eggs, 50-100 days for larvae, and about 20 days for pupae in winter.
For the development of integrated pest management system by harmonizing biological and chemical control, some experiments wee carried out to select low toxic pesticides against natural enemies. and their residual toxicity were evaluated. Leaf dipping method, body dipping method, and diet treatment method were set up for the toxicity evaluation against Cotesia glomerata adults. We had tested 46 different pesticides (31 insecticides, 11 fungicides, 4 herbicides) at recommending concentration commonly used to control diamond back moth, disease and up-land weeds in chinese cabbage field. Twenty three insecticides, eleven fungicides, and four herbicides were shown to be low toxic to C. glomerata adults in the treatment of body dipping. After insecticide spraying at recommending dose on the chinese cabbage, we examined residual effect of insecticides by introducing natural enemies on different days. Safety interval for the introduction of C. glomerata adults was established according to the residual toxicity of pesticides. Safe insecticides for the introduction of C. glomerata adults at one day after treatment (DAT) were thiacloprid, acephate, chlorfenapyr, clothianidin and at 3 DAT were imidacloprid, deltamethrin, thiamethoxam, dimethylvinphos, emamectin benzoate.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of various low-viscosity resin systems used as rebonding agents to prevent microleakage at the margins of class I composite resin restorations. Seventy sound human premolars were selected for experiment. Class I cavities were prepared and each cavity was conditioned with a 37% phosphoric acid for 15 sec, rinsed with water for 15 sec, and dried with compressed air. Bonding agent(Scotchbond Multipurpose, 3M Co.) was applied and a hybrid composite resin (Z-100, 3M Co.) was placed using an incremental technic. The excess cured composite resin was carefully removed with Sof-Lex discs(3M Co.) to expose the original margins of the cavity. The following seven groups were established : group 1 was not rebonded and used as control group ; group 2 was rebonded with a Scotchbond Multipurpose(3M Co.) and finished ; group 3 was rebonded with a Fortify(BISCO) and finished ; group 4 was rebonded with a Concise white sealant(3M Co.) and finished ; group 5 was rebonded with a Concise white sealant(3M Co.) and not finished ; group 6 was rebonded with a P&F sealant(BISCO) and finished; group 7 was rebonded with a P&F sealant(BISCO) and not finished. The specimens were then subjected to 500 thermocycles between 5 & 65 with a 10 see dwell time and immersed in 2% methylene blue dye solution for 24 hours and sectioned with low-speed diamond cutter into two part under water condition. The extent of microleakage at rebonded margins was evaluated microscopically and scored for dye penetration according to the following scale : 0=no dye penetration ; 1=dye penetration to half-way along axial wall between enamel surface and DEJ ; 2=dye penetration beyond halfway along axial wall between enamel surface and DEJ ; 3=dye penetration to the full depth of DEJ or beyond DEJ. Selected samples were prepared for SEM observation to determine the depth of penetration of the rebonding agent into the marginal interface. The obtained results were as follows: 1. In the group 2 and 3, which is rebonded with a Scotchbond Multipupose and Fortify, dye penetration score were decreased significantly than that of group 1 (P<0.05), but group 4 and 6 were not statistically different from group 1(P>0.05). 2. There were significant differences between group 4, 6 and group 5, 7 when compared by dye penetration score (P<0.05). 3. In the SEM observation, Scotchbond Multipurpose and Fortify were penetrated within $30-40{\mu}m$ depth of the outermost surface. However, both sealants were failed to penetrate into the debonded interface.
