  • This study was designed to evaluate the correlationship between radiologic classifications of cysts in oral region and glycosaminoglycan analysis of cystic fluids using cellulose acetate electrophoresis. The materials for this study consisted of 37 cases-8 periapical cysts, 10 dentigerous cysts, 10 primordial cysts, 2 residual cysts, 3 incisive canal cysts, 2 post-operative maxillary cysts, 1 mucocele on maxillary sinus, & 1 unicystic ameloblastoma-diagnosed as cystic lesions radiologically. The obtained results were as follows: 1. At the stepwise discriminant analysis, four variables-low mobility material, heparin, hyaluronic acid, & dermatan sulfate-were used to define diagnostic model for the odotogenic cyst. The model produced a sensitivity of 100% and a specificity of 85%. 2. The intensities of heparin and chondroitin-4-sulfate were greater in dentigerous cyst than periapical cyst(p<0.05). The intensity of chondroitin-4-sulfate was greater in primordial cyst than in periapical cyst(p<0.05). 3. It showed no statistically significant difference in glycosaminoglycan of the cystic fluids between dentigerous cyst and primordial cyst(p>0.05). 4. On the fluids of the cysts originated from maxillary sinus, there were especially high intensities of heparin and dermatan sulfate, and low intensity of chondroitin-4-sulfate. 5. On the fluids of unicystic ameloblastoma, there were high intensity of dermatan sulfate and low intenity of chondroitin-4-sulfate.

  • Internet network routing system is used to prevent spread and distribution of malicious data traffic. The penetration of malicious code and the function of security blocking are performed on the same course of traffic pathway. The security architecture is the concept to distinguish the architecture from the group handling with the traffic on the structure of network which is performed with the function of penetration and security. The security architecture could be different from the criterion of its realm and function, which requires the development and the application of security mechanism for every architecture. For the establishment of security architecture it is needed to show what criterion of net work should be set up. This study is based on analysis of diagnostic weakness structure in the network security architecture and research the criterion for topology factor, security architecture structure map selection, and blocking location and disinfection net. It is shown to increase the effective rate blocking the virus with the proposed method in this paper rather than the traditional network architecture.

  • The utilization of x-ray for diagnosis and examination is increasing by about 5-15% every year, therefore, it would be mandatory to protect the patients from exposures and so, studies in this field are performed even now. In dental field, the area of irradiation is limited any to the head and neck area, but the irradiated angle is varied following the objected tooth, so the adjacent structures lens and thyroid gland would be fragile to radiation. And the scattered radiation is one of the complicated problems in the protection because of specificity of dental x-ray and its object structures. The author, by using TLD (Thermo luminescent Dosimeter; Teledyne Isotopes-Model 7300, Element; TLD 200(CaF₂:Dy) and Capintec(Capintec Model 192, PM-30 Diagnostic chamber 28㎖ active volume), tried a measurement of air dose distribution of the scattered radiation and the irradiated dose of lens and thyroid gland under the condition of taking the film on the left maxillary molar. The results were as follows: 1. The half value layer of adapted dental x-ray machine was measured, and is 1.44㎜ Al. 2. The time of irradiation on the left maxillary molar in the Alderson Rando Phantom, the measured doses of left and right lens, and thyroid gland were 8,9mR, 1,2mR and 2,8mR. Under the same conditions, the scattered radiation at the distance of 1 meter from the phantom were 84 μR at the front side, 11μR at the back side, 18μR at the right side and 72μR at the left side. 3. Under the same conditions, the dose showed higher value by about 5% in the presence of object(phantom) than in the case of absence.

  • Prostate images have been used in the diagnosis of prostate using TRUS images being relatively cheap. Ultrasound images are recorded with 3 dimension and one diagnostic exam is made with a number of the images. A doctor can see 2 dimensional images on the monitor sequentially and 3 dimensional ones to diagnose a disease. To display the images, 2-d images are used with raw 2-d ones, but 3-d images need to be segmented by the prostates and their backgrounds to be seen from different angles and with cut images of inner side. Especially on detecting the boundary, the ones in the middle of all images are easy to find the boundary but the base and apex of the images are hard to do it since there are lots of uncertain boundary. So, in this paper we propose the method that applies an average shape model and detects the boundary, and shows its superiority compared to the existing methods with experiments.

  • The spatial characteristics of stratification In Deukryang Bay were studded using observed data and analytical models. From the description of the density structure and its the potential energy anomaly (PEA) from observed data along longitudinal direction (from the mouth to head of the bays, we found that the stratification Intensity could be changed strongly by density current effect during the spring-neap tidal cycle, and depth variation. To find out density current effect for the formation of the stratification In detail, we Implemented a diagnostic approach by using the modified analytical model including density current, tidal current, surface heating and wind stirring. The model allowed for the observed similarities for the whole domain in the bay and increased tidal mixing efficiency value s up to 0.006-0.007 as compared to the results without density current effect. We found that the density current effect was also an important key factor In determining the formation of the spatial distribution of stratification.

  • Objectives: Previous studies have reported inconsistent findings in the association between dental diagnostic X-ray exposure and thyroid cancer. This study was a meta-analysis of case-control studies evaluating the association between exposure to dental radiation and the thyroid cancer risk. Methods: We searched the PubMed and EMBASE databases to identify studies on dental radiation and thyroid cancer risks that were published up to September 2018. Quality of studies was assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa scale. A fixed-effects model was used to estimate pooled odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) using STATA 14.0. Potential publication biases were evaluated using Egger's test and Begg's funnel plot. Results: From the literature search, we included six case-control studies in this meta-analysis. The meta-analysis using the fixed-effects model found that dental X-ray exposure was associated with 2.34 times increased risk for thyroid cancer (OR=2.34, 95% CI=1.79-3.21). There was no heterogeneity in the data (p=0.662, I2 =0%). Egger's test showed that there was no publication bias (p=0.532). Conclusions: This meta-analysis confirmed the association of dental X-ray exposure and thyroid cancer risk. The current results underscore the importance of applying safety regulations at dental clinics to protect thyroid glands during dental radiography examinations.

  • Purpose: This study analysed the intention of medical students career choice, educational programmes, and mentoring and counseling system for career planning at Yonsei medical school in Korea. Methods: The data were collected based on four separate graduation questionnaires at Yonsei medical school in the years of 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008. The number of the survey was 130 in 2005, 130 in 2006, 153 in 2007, and that of the latest was 120 in 2008. We analysed the career intention on medical specialties and activities, and perceptions of important factors in choosing medical specialty. Results : The results which can be drawn from this study are these: firstly. students had more intention for choosing clinical medicine as university faculty than any other activities. While male students preferred to major in surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, urology, otorhinolaryngology, female students in internal medicine, neurology, anesthesiology and pain medicine, diagnostic radiology, laboratory medicine. Secondly, students perceived that the most important factor which can influence on choosing a medical specialty was individual factor such as one's interests and concerns, values, and aptitudes. In stead, they relatively less perceived mentor and role model's effects on choosing a medical specialty compared to those of the United States of America. Third, the career planning at Yonsei medical school was evaluated well, especially educational programmes for career planning such as self assessment programme, elective(specialized) courses, and conversation with a senior programme. Conclusions: Unexpectedly, there are high demands for career planning by medical students. Therefore, we will reorganize systematic devices for career planning such as mentoring and counseling system at medical school.

  • Agricultural Photovoltaic power generation is a new model that installs solar power generation facilities on top of farmland. Through this, it is possible to increase farm household income by producing crops and electricity at the same time. Recently, various attempts have been made to utilize agricultural solar power generation. Agricultural photovoltaic power generation has a disadvantage in that maintenance is relatively difficult because it is installed on a relatively high structure unlike conventional photovoltaic power generation. To solve these problems, intelligent and efficient operation and diagnostic functions are required. In this paper, we discuss the design and implementation of a prediction and diagnosis system to collect and store the power output of agricultural solar power generation facilities and implement an intelligent prediction model. The proposed system predicts the amount of power generation based on the amount of solar power generation and environmental sensor data, determines whether there is an abnormality in the facility, calculates the aging degree of the facility and provides it to the user.

  • Purpose: Pediatric acute appendicitis has a stable incidence rate in Western countries with an annual change of -0.36%. However, a sharp increase was observed in the Asian region. The Indonesian Health Department reveals appendicitis as the fourth most infectious disease, with more than 64,000 patients annually. Hence, there is an urgent need to identify and evaluate the risk factors and diagnostic modalities for accurate diagnosis and early treatment. This study also clarifies the usage of pediatric appendicitis score (PAS) for children <5 years of age. Methods: The current study employed a cross-sectional design with purposive sampling through demographic and PAS questionnaires with ultrasound sonography (USG) results. The analysis was performed using the chi-square and Mann-Whitney tests and logistic regression. Results: This study included 21 qualified patients with an average age of 6.76±4.679 years, weighing 21.72±10.437 kg, and who had been hospitalized for 4.24±1.513 days in Siloam Teaching Hospital. Compared to the surgical gold standard, PAS and USG have moderate sensitivity and specificity. Bodyweight and stay duration were significant for appendicitis (p<0.05); however, all were confounders in the multivariate regression analysis. Incidentally, a risk prediction model was generated with an area under the curve of 72.73%, sensitivity of 100.0%, specificity of 54.5%, and a cut-off value of 151. Conclusion: PAS outperforms USG in the sensitivity of diagnosing appendicitis, whereas USG outperforms PAS in terms of specificity. This study demonstrates the use of PAS in children under 5 years old. Meanwhile, no risk factors were significant in multivariate pediatric acute appendicitis risk factors.
