  • The predictive maintenance can help to avoid the serious plant breakdowns and catastrophies. This paper deals with the fault diagnosis of the rotor of the induction motor which is widely used in the plants. In order to detect the broken bar, the Extended Kalman Filter is adopted to estimate the rotor resistance on the base of model-based method. The proposed estimation method is simulated with the aid of Matlab.

  • In this paper a method to diagnose pathological voices using wavelet transform is sug gested. Pathological voices are collected from hospital and analyzed by the suggested method. Normal voices are collected separately and analyzed. Then the results are compared to find the differences in their characteristics. Three level wavelet transform is used. Normalized energy ratios between the levels and normalized peak-to-peak values are used as parameters. As a result, it was possible to distinguish between normal and pathological voices.

  • Several kinds of Electrical Wires have been used in Electric Multiple Units(EMU) for the supply of electric power, supervision, and the propagation of control signals. These Electrical Wires must be inspected for safe and stable operation of EMU. The degradation diagnosis to estimate the integrity of Electrical Wires has recently been requested according to the long use of EMU. This paper describes on application of diagnosis method for EMU.

  • This study is about fault detection and fault area detection of LV circuit in Cab Cubicle system which have control of train to keep safety in High Speed Train. LV circuit is operated with diagnosis system like safety system. In this paper, we suggest a design and an implementation method to detect fault or to detect fault area automatically about LV circuit.   • Variable selection in oriental medical research is considered. Decision tree analysis algorithms such as CHAID, CART, C4.5 and QUEST have been successfully applied to a medical research. Paralysis disease is a highly dangerous and murderous disease which accompanied with a great deal of severe physical handicap. In this paper, we explore the use of CHAID algorithm for selecting variables for evidence-diagnosis of paralysis, disease. Empirical results comparing our proposed method to the method using Wilks $\lambda$ given.

  • In this paper, we present the results of parameter estimation for do-dc converter model by system identification. The parameter estimation for dc-dc converter aims at the diagnosis of its operating status. we applied the system identification method for parameter estimation. For verification of estimated parameter, we compare bode plot of estimated system transfer function and measurement results of HP4194 instrument.

  • Tongue image segmentation is critical for automation of the tongue diagnosis system. However, most image segmentation methods for tongue diagnosis systems in oriental medicine have been proposed as user-based manual types or semi-automatic types. This study proposed a new method for tongue image segmentation, which is the most important image processing stage for complete automation of the tongue diagnosis system in oriental medicine. The proposed method improved the conventional snake algorithm, by making improvement on the internal energy function so that, as the points move outward reversely, the snake energy function is minimized, by using the image characteristics of tongue images. To calculate external energy, hierarchical spatial filtering is applied to ensure resistance against noise. Also, The proposed method was tested by using sample images and actual images, and showed more robustness against the background noise than the conventional snake algorithm. And, when one selected point was moved by the improved snake algorithm, energy values at the starting, middle, and end points were analyzed, and showed robustness that does not fall in the local minima.

  • In line with the advances in factory automation, various pieces of equipment are now operated in batch processes controlled by computers. However, many kinds of faults can occur in complicated and large systems, which can result in low productivity and economic loss. The reliability and safety of systems have been studied because of the difficulty of determining the severity and location of faults. Therefore, it is necessary to detect and diagnose such faults in order to guarantee the reliability and safety of the equipment. In this paper, a diagnosis method for the ball bearings of a hydraulic pump is applied using a vibration signal for the maintenance of injection molding equipment. The bearings' defects are selected as a main failure mode through a failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA). Usually, there are nonlinear and impulse components of vibration in a ball bearing with faults. For the effective fault diagnosis of a ball bearing, nonlinear diagnostic methods and time-frequency analysis are applied, in addition to the methods currently used, such as power spectrum, time series analysis, and statistical methods. As a result of this study, a failure diagnosis system is provided that is useful even for non-experts. This is a condition-based method that makes it possible to resolve problems in a timely and economical way, in contrast to the prior method, which required regular but wasteful maintenance based on the experience of expensive external experts.

A Study on Maekjin system and Yangdorak Diagnosis system by using Neuro-Fuzzy method in Korean Traditional Medicine (뉴로-퍼지 방법을 이용한 한방 맥진 및 양도락 진단 시스템에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, the Maekjin and the Yangdorak Diagnosis algorithm by using a neuro-fuzzy method is proposed and it is implemented on the DSP-based system. Maekjin is measured by 3-channels of the Maekjin board through Maekjin probe which is attached on Chon, Kwan and Chuk of patient's wrist. First, we experiment Chon, Kwan and Chuk, 3-parts simultaneously and second perform one part of Chon, Kwan and Chuk respectively, The experimental results show that the Maekjin signal is measured precisely with any Maekjin probe. In Yangdorak diagnosis, the pulse generated by electric stimulator stimulates a portion of body and the response signal is measured through electrodes which is attached on representative points of 12 kyungmaks. The experimental methods are (1) 1 channel-measure, (2) 2 channels-measure, (3) 6 channels-measure and (4) 24 channels-measure. A fuzzy diagnosis is performed and neural networks is learned using fuzzy values as inputs, and we show that neuro-fuzzy diagnosis method is performed well.
