A Study for Acoustic Cues of Pyoung-An Do Dialect Using LPC (LPC를 이용한 평안방언의 음향지표에 관한 연구)

  • This paper deal with the acoustic cues of Pyoung-An Do dialect using linear prediction. Also, this paper descrbes a statistical comparison between standard tone speech data and Pyoung-An Do dia lects. The analysis done mainly focused on the distribution of formants and pitch periods accord to ac- cents variation. For the purpose of objective comparison, the experiments are performed by extracts for- mant LPC spectrum and pithch periods from average magnitude difference function waveforms. Summing up the results, In disyllable words (VCV pattern) , prepositioned vowels have longer phona lion time than postpositioned vowels and the intrin, iii phonation time is whore longer in the low vowels than in the high ones. The africative consonants show the mixed characteristics of the plosive and frlc ative consonants. The remarkable acoustic cues are the low frequency noise-like waves just before the 1st formants in the plosive consonants, the high frequency noise-like waves in the fricative consonants, and phonation time is not affected by the kinds of prepositioned or postpositioned vowels.

  • The mixed body of clay and flyash containing unburnt carbon was examined at various sintering conditions in order to recycle flyash as environment-affinitive construction materials. Experimental results can be summarized as follows : when large aggregate of 2.54 cm dia. was sintered at a heating rate of $20^{\circ}C$/min, heterogeneous phase with bulgings, inner pores, and cracks were observed at the sintering temperature of $1200^{\circ}C$. Accordingly, heating patterns for the complete removal of the heterogeneous phase were proposed as countermeasures. The compressive strength of finally obtained aggregate was 670~870kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$, which is over two and a half times stronger than the minimum requirement of 200kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$.

  • Lead scandium tantalate powders were prepared by a molten salt synthesis method using NaCl-KCl as a flux. Variations in phase formation and particle morphology were investigated for the temperature range from $700^{\circ}C\;to\;800^{\circ}C$. $Pb(Sc_{1/2}Ta_{1/2})O_3$, with pure perovskite phase was formed at $750^{\circ}C$ fur 2 hrs and the prepared powder had the cubic-like morphology and the average particle size below $0.5{\mu}m$. The results were discussed with respect to DTA, X-ray diffraction, and microstructural characterization data.

  • A natural FeOOH-goethite was compressed up to 9.5 GPa at room temperature using a DIA-type large volume apparatus with synchrotron radiation. Energy dispersive x-ray diffraction method was employed to measure its compressibility and NaCl was used for high pressure determinations. Bulk modulus was determined to be 131.1 (${\pm}5.8$) GPa by the Birch-Murnaghan equation of state with $K_0'$ fixed to 4. The present result is not in accord with the previous measurements, which vary from 111 to 147.9 GPa.

  • Bariatric surgery has evolved from a surgical measure for treating morbid obesity to an epochal remedy for treating metabolic syndrome as a whole, which is represented by type 2 diabetes mellitus. Numerous clinical trials have advocated bariatric or metabolic surgery over nonsurgical interventions because of markedly superior metabolic outcomes in morbidly obese patients who satisfy traditional criteria for bariatric surgery (body mass index [BMI] >$35kg/m^2$) and in less obese or simply overweight patients. Nevertheless, not all diabetes patients achieve the most desirable outcomes; i.e., diabetes remission after metabolic surgery. Thus, candidates for metabolic surgery should be carefully selected based on comprehensive preoperative assessments of the risk-benefit ratio. Predictors for diabetes remission after metabolic surgery may be classified into two groups based on mechanism of action. The first is indices for preserved pancreatic beta-cell function, including younger age, shorter duration of diabetes, and higher C-peptide level. The second is the potential for an insulin resistance reduction, including higher baseline BMI and visceral fat area. Several prediction models for diabetes remission have been suggested by merging these two to guide the joint decision-making process between clinicians and patients. Three such models, DiaRem, ABCD, and individualized metabolic surgery scores, provide an intuitive scoring system and have been validated in an independent external cohort and can be utilized in routine clinical practice. These prediction models need further validation in various ethnicities to ensure universal applicability.

  • Quinary component of 3㎛ thick Ti-Al-Si-Cu-N films were deposited onto WC-Co and Si wafer substrates by using an arc ion plating(AIP) system. In this study, the influence of copper(Cu) contents on the mechanical properties and microstructure of the films were investigated. The hardness of the films with 3.1 at.% Cu addition exhibited the hardness value of above 42 GPa due to the microstructural change as well as the solid-solution hardening. The instrumental analyses revealed that the deposited film with Cu content of 3.1 at.% was a nano-composites with nano-sized crystallites (5-7 nm in dia.) and a thin layer of amorphous Si3N4 phase.

  • This experiment was conducted to elucidate the changes of dry matter production in permanent pasture and its relation with relative yield of the 1st cutting, regrowth capacity, and persistance of orchardgrass sward, based on the data of preceeding The results were summarized as follows; 1. Relationship between relative yield of the 1st cutting and regrowth capacity were changed by the times of established pasture. Thus, the relative yield of the 1st cutting have negative significant correlation (P < -0.001) with regrowth capacity. 2. Regrowth capacity(RC) was positively significant correlations with the dry weight of plant (DW/pl.), number of tillers per plant (NT/pl.), plant size(PS) and distance between adjacent plants (DIS) of the 1st cutting. Also, regrowth capacity(RC) was positively correlations with the dry weight of plant (DW/pl.), number of tillers per plant (NT/pl.), stubble diameter(DIA), stubble area(SB), plant size(PS) and distance between adjacent plants(D1S) of the 2nd cutting. 3. The coefficients of regression of the 1st cutting showed a tendency to slightly decrease, on the other hand, the 2nd cutting and total yield were tended to increase by the times of established pasture. 4, Between the regrowth capacity and persistency were may deeply concerned to the changes of dry matter production in permanent pasture. 5. The process of dry matter production in permanent pasture can be shown in following diagrams.

  • As the urban regeneration project and the old housing maintenance project are actively progressing in Korea, small-scale building construction is being carried out in downtown areas. Small buildings in the downtown area are constructed on about 4 to 10 floors, and since they are carried out in small units in residential areas, it is difficult to enter large equipment to construct existing piles, and it is more vulnerable to complaints about noise and vibration. in this study, helical piles suitable for urban areas or small sites where it is difficult to enter large equipment, such as noise and vibration. Reliability analysis was performed on the results of the static load tests and dynamic load tests conducted at the LH site and the bearing capacity calculated by the hydrostatic method and the empirical formula (N value). As a result of comparing and analyzing the design formula and the results of static load test and dynamic load tests, the correlation between the design formula of the bored pile (Road bridge design standard) formula using N value and the design formula by the modified Davisson method frequently used by method commonly European helical file practitioners.

A Design for Natural Gas Reforming Reactor (천연가스 개질기 설계)

  • This work is for the design study of natural gas reformer (40 $m^3/hr$ over). We used experimental kinetic data from literature. After that, we set up theoretical model based on experimental reaction kinetic data. The shape of reactor is 1.7 m long and 200 mm dia. with cylinder geometry. Volume of reactor is 53.4 liter. Average flow velocity of gases in the reactor has been determined 0.272 m/sec and residence time is 9.26 sec. Reaction temperature is $850^{\circ}C$, with pressure 9.3 Bar. Used natural gas volume is about 9.21 $m^3/hr$. Produced hydrogen is 43.7 $m^3/hr$ with no change of pressure. Unreacted natural gas is 0.09 $m^3/hr$ and the amount of steam is 26.9 $m^3/hr$. Steam to $CH_4$ (s/c ratio) is 2.91. Reforming reaction take place from the reactor entrance to 120 cm region of cylinder type reactor. After the entrance of reacting gases to 120 cm region, the reaction reaches equilibrium which is close to products. This study can be applicable to design various reactors. Output data is in good agreements with the data in literatures1).

  • The Part 7 of MPEG-21, called Digital Item Adaptation, aims at an interoperable transparent access of multimedia contents in heterogeneous environments. This standard facilitates the development of Universal Multimedia Access (UMA) systems, which adapt the rich multimedia contents to provide user the best possible presentation under the constraints of various terminals and network connections. Content adaptation has two major aspects: one is modality conversion that converts content from one modality (e.g. video) to different modalities (e.g. image) the other is content scaling that changes the titrates (or qualities) of the contents without converting their modalities. At the output of adaptation process, the highly-subjective qualities of adapted contents nay vary widely with respect to point-of-views of different providers and different users. So, user should have some control on the adaptation process. In this paper, we describe two description tools of user characteristics, the presentation priority preference and the modality conversion preference, which allow user to have flexible choices on the qualities and modalities of output contents. We also present a systematic approach to integrate these user preferences into the adaptation process. These description tools are developed in the process of MPEG-21 standardization.
