  • Therapeuticre rehabilitation of young children has often included the use of walker as mobility aids. Traditional walkers have four vertical legs, a horizontal bar in front of child, and horizontal bars on either side which also serve as hand grip. Child pushes it. It is called 'anterior walker'. 'Posterior walker' have been introduced which the child pull along behind himself during ambulation. The purpose of this investigation was to compare specific gait characteristics of children with developmental disability, while they ambulated with anterior and posterior walker. Using the posterior walker, specific gait characteristics improve than using anterior walker.

  • Proprioceptive neuromusculat facilitation(PNF), scapular patterns are very important for orthopaedic and neurologic patients. It is an essential treatment techniques for motor developmental disorder, CVA, cervical disk, frozen shoulder and pain control of cervical, shoulder girdle and upper extremity. Scapular patterns of PNF has 4 different type of pattern. each of them in combining of movement plane and functional movement. Biomechanically, most of PNF patterns are a concentric contraction with third-claw lever. But the movement pattern have a technique of combination of isotonic that should make a eccentric contraction with second-claw lever.

  • It is very important for rehabilitation to deal with psychological aspects of persons with disabilities, as well as efforts improving the institutional and environmental conditions. A majority of persons with severe disabilities in the situation of Korea have difficulty in having and maintaining a job. Work should and would be a source of self-respect and material well-being in this modern society. Therefore, Vocational rehabilitation services are measures in restoration of family functions and social participation of persons with disabilities. This study aims at investigating linguistic characteristics and the validity of constructional concepts of picture interest test Inventories that have been utilized for the segregated groups of people such as persons with developmental disabilities. Picture interest test inventories seemed to be valid for measuring psychological traits and characteristics of people with mental retardation, and this finding can be extended to the group of other developmental disabilities, such as learning disabilities and mild/moderate behavioral deficits. The Holland classification system seemed to be best fitted for developing a comprehensive and accurate vocational interest inventory.

  • The purpose of this study to know the effects of craft programmes on the visual perceptual development of the children with developmental disabilities. Sixty children were diagnosed with developmental disabilities. They divided into two groups that were the experimental group and control group. The children were subjected at K-Rehabilitation Center and C-child Care Center in Gyeong-Ju for 6 weeks from Feb to Apr (twice a seek, total 12 times) in 2011. The development programmes for the children disabilities are based on occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy. The intervention of experimental group included occupational therapy based on the craft programmes, physical therapy, and speech therapy. The one of control group included occupational therapy based on function, physical therapy, and speech therapy. The MVPT-3 and K-DTVP-2 were done before and after the therapy to compare visual perceptual development ability and to know the results of the test. Results were as follow: First, there were significant differences of MVPT-3 score before and after the therapy. Second, there were significant differences of K-DTVP-2 score before and after the therapy. The results mean the craft programmes had a positive effect on the visual perceptual development of the children with developmental disabilities.

First, the researcher describes strategies to support students with developmental disabilities living in an information society to improve their social integration ability by using smartphone. Second, it describes the types of smartphone applications that could support the social real life of students with developmental disabilities. Third, it describes the needs of smartphone applications to improve social adaptability of students with developmental disabilities. The results of this study will lead students with developmental disabilities to learn and use various functions of smartphone in the information society to interact with people around them and improve their communication skills. In addition, the results can be used as basic data to develop and support appropriate applications that can help vocational rehabilitation and social integration of students with developmental disabilities.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of an occupational therapy program on the school readiness, focusing on adaptation skills and daily life skills, in children with developmental delays. Methods : The study involved a boy with developmental delay, aged 5 years and 8 months. The program was conducted twice a week, with a total of 8 sessions spread over 4 weeks. The Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) was employed, targeting class preparation and use of the toilet. Pre-post tests and follow-up evaluations were carried out to compare changes. Data analysis involved video recordings of the subject's performance. Results : The COPM results indicated improvements in both the performance and satisfaction levels for class preparation and toilet use. Processing skills showed seven improvements in class preparation and eight improvements in toilet use during post-testing. Activity performance observations further confirmed improvements in both class preparation and toilet use during post-test and follow-up evaluations. Conclusion : Occupational therapy improves school readiness (adaptation skill, daily living activity skill) for children with developmental delays, and has a positive effect on overall school readiness.

  • Developmental dysplasia or dislocation of the hip is the most pronounced form of a condition in which the femoral heads tends progressively to leave the acetabulum. In the young child the variability of findings and course suggest a spectrum of conditions in which there are a number of common features: restriction of movement, particularly of abduction in flexion; shortening; and abnormal radiology, including a sloping or dysplastic acetabulum and delay in the appearance of the upper femoral epiphysis. It is vital to make the diagnosis of a congenital dislocation as soon after birth as possible. Conservative treatment with an abduction brace before the child run begins to walk is completely adequate, but after the age of 4 even surgical repositioning is difficult and after the age of 7 it is almost impossible. The aim of the study was to gain insight into the value of physical therapy of developmental dysplasia or dislocation after operation.

The objectives of this article are to review the developmental process of hand function and to described the types of grasp, grip, pinch, and prehension. Developmental process of hand function is based on general developmental theory as Vojta, Bobath and Ayres. There are many kinds of classification of prehension, grasp, and pinch. This review include the classification by Malick, Kiel, Melvin, Sollrman & Sperling, Pedretti & Zoltan, Tyldesley & Grieve' book, Norkin & Levangie' book.
