장례문화는 화장위주의 장례방법 개선에서 죽은 자의 복지적 차원의 접근이 필요하다. 장례문화는 미래지향적으로 재조명해 보고, 웰엔딩(well-ending)과 연계한 발전방향을 모색할 필요성이 있다. 본고에서는 장례문화 변화과정과 서울시 장례문화의 문제점 진단을 통해 웰엔딩의 실천과제를 모색하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 이를 위해 서울 시민 500명을 대상으로 조사한 장례문화 의식조사 결과를 활용하였다. 웰엔딩은 생의 마지막 순간까지 인간의 존엄성을 보장해 주고 죽음문화를 질적으로 향상시키는 과정이다. 웰엔딩 문화의 체계적인 접근은 죽음의 질적 개선을 달성할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. 고령사회에 부응하는 장례문화 정착을 위해서는 장례문화에 대한 패라다임의 전환이 필요하다. 웰엔딩 준비 교육은 죽음을 맞이하는 당사자 뿐 만 아니라 살아있는 가족들에도 삶의 의미를 깨달을 수 있다. 그리고 장사시설은 모든 세대가 공유할 수 있는 문화 복지시설로 확충될 수 있도록 우리의 지혜를 모아야 한다.

For the last decades, criticism on Frankenstein has tried to make a link between Victor's Creature and Rousseaurean "man in a state of nature." Like the Rousseaurean savage in a state of animal, the monster has only basic instincts least needed for his survival, i.e. self-preservation, but turns into a civilized man after learning language. Most critics argue that, despite the monster's acquisition of language, his failure in entry into a cultural and linguistic community is the outcome of a lack of sympathy for him by others, which displays the stark existence of epistemological barriers between them. That is to say, the monster imagines his being the same as others in the pre-linguistic stage but, in the linguistic stage, he realizes that he is different from others. Interpreting the Rousseaurean idea of language, which appears in his writings, as much more focused on emotion than many critics think, I read the dispute between Victor and his Creature as a variation of parent-offspring conflict. Shelley criticizes Rousseau's parental negligence in putting his children into a foundling hospital and leaving them dying there. The monster's revenge on uncaring Victor parallels the likely retaliation Rousseau's displaced children would perform against Rousseau, which Shelley imaginatively reproduces in her novel. The conflict between the monster and Victor is due to a disrupted attachment between parent and child in terms of Darwinian developmental psychology. Affective asynchrony between parent and child, which refers to a state of lack of mutual favorable feelings, accounts for numerous dysfunctional families. This paper shifts a focus from a semiotics-oriented perspective on the monster's social isolation to a Darwinian perspective, drawing attention to emotional problems transpiring in familial interactions. In doing so, it finds that language is a means of communicating one's internal emotions to others along with other means such as facial expressions and body movements. It also demonstrates that how to promote emotional well-being in either familial or social relationships entirely depends on the way in which one employs language that can entail either pleasure or anger on hearers' part.

본 연구는 현대도시 문제점 중 하나인 교외개발 사례를 통해 도시의 진화성을 이해해 보려는 시론적 연구이다. 방법론으로 (1) 국내 9개(1980-2010), 미국 49개 도시(1992-2019년)의 도시확장강도지수(UEII) 산출, (2) 2019년 시카고 대도시권 도시지역을 대상으로 형태학적 공간패턴(MSP)과 엔트로피(Entropy) 분석이다. 주요결과는 (1) 도시확산 현상은 보편적인 도시변화 특성으로 이해할 수 있다, (2) 전체지역의 특성은 하위단위 도시들의 특성과 다른 방향으로 나타날 수 있다. 연구함의는 (1) 교외 도시확산현상은 도시에게 부여된 여러 기능에 부합하는 도시변화 현상으로 이해할 수 있으며 하위단위 도시·생활권의 기능이 큰 의미를 갖는다, (2) 진화론적 관점에서의 도시는 기존의 발달성장 논의와 큰 차이가 있다. 이 연구는 도시의 부분적 특성을 사례로 삼고 있다는 한계를 보이며 향후 도시의 진화하는 속성을 이해하기 위한 폭넓은 실증연구가 필요하다.

As technologies' life-cycle shortens and their development directions are uncertain, firms' technology planning capability becomes increasingly important. Prior patent-based studies using technology growth curves identify developmental stages of technologies, thereby formulating technology development directions from an overall perspective. However, a technology generally consists of multiple sub-technologies and accordingly their development stages are likely various. In this regard, the prior studies failed to identify core sub-technologies and their specific development directions. Therefore, we suggest an approach consisting of 1) identifying core sub-technologies of a given technology using patent co-classifications and social network analysis, and 2) identifying each sub-technology's development stage and thereby determining its further development direction. We apply our approach to patents related to augmented reality to examine its applicability. It is expected that our approach will help identify evolving development stages for the core sub-technologies of a given technology, thereby effectively assisting technology experts in technology planning processes.

This study histologically describes the intersexuality of Scomberomorus niphonius collected from the coastal area near Jeju Island. A total of 126 S. niphonius, collected from March to July 2012 with a total length of 62.4 cm (${\pm}17.5$) and a total weight of 1,701.9 g (${\pm}1,528.9$) were used for analyses. From a histological perspective, two types of intersex were confirmed. One type had scattered germ cells from the opposite sex within the gonad. The second type developed germ cells from the opposite sex in the connective tissue of the outer gonadal membrane. The intersexuality was 14.3% (n=18/126), with females (21.3%; n=16/75) exhibiting a higher rate than males (3.9%; n=2/51). There was no displayed correlation between intersexuality and the total length and weight.

Objectives : The aim of this study is to regulate the medical meaning about Kwan [self-denial] which is used by Jeongkyeok [reinforcing the weak body part] and Seungkyeok [consolidating the weak body part while inducing cathartic action of comparatively stronger body part] of Saam Acupuncture in common. Methods : This study generalized the method of understanding 'The Five Viscera Interaction' in Oriental Medicine from the perspective of literature and considering human organs in the medical context. Results and Conclusions : 1. There existed 'The Five Viscera Interaction' theory regulating the correlation between the five viscera headed by "Nankyeong" in the traditional Oriental medicine. The five viscera interaction theory was used as the standard of judging the symptom and the prognosis of a disease in the history of Oriental medicine and further used even as the method of preventing and treating diseases. 2. The treatment included in "Biyebaekyobang", a medical book in the period of Goryeo, can be rated as the most developmental form of medical theory which applied 'the five viscera interaction theory' to clinical treatment. The author of "Biyebaekyobang" managed to break away from the schematism of the five viscera interaction through the method of treating two internal organs using one organ treatment and applying the individually different relations between organs. "Biyebaekyobang" shows close similarities to Saam Acupuncture. 3. The organs handled in Saam Acupuncture has a significance in that it put forward the part which had not been aggressively dealt with in medical history up until then.

Chromosome 3 (3p) deletion syndrome is a rare genomic disorder caused by a deletion at the terminal end of the short arm of chromosome 3. The primary characteristics of the syndrome are delayed development, dysmorphic features, and several other congenital anomalies. Here, we describe the case of a 2-year-old Korean girl with typical features of 3p deletion syndrome, including dysmorphic facial features, low birth weight, developmental delay, growth and cognitive retardation, and congenital heart disease. This case represents the first report of 3p deletion syndrome in Korea. Although phenotypes can be variable among patients, a clinically recognizable pattern has been described for this genetic defect, and our report helps to identify other cases with 3p deletion syndrome from a clinical and genetic perspective.

Objectives: This paper aims to identify the dimensions of community capacity in a public residence lease apartment complex in Seoul as a case study, and discusses their application to community health promotion. Methods: The research team performed a focus group interview and a brief survey with resident committee representatives to explore community context and to identify the dimensions of community capacity and their order of priority. Results: We identified many groups with different senses of community and various dynamics in the community. Seven dimensions of community capacity were identified. However, there are different developmental stages among them. Also there are some influences with the different directions in a dimension, e.g. leadership and citizen participation. Conclusions: This study illustrated the identification of the dimensions of community capacity focused on the perspective and recognition of the community and community member, as an effort to understand community capacity in domestic community health promotion context.

Private security will be of great importance in the coming 21st century. In the future, most of the crimes will be violent and frequent. In order to prevent crimes private security must be dealt with in public service area and private area. For this reason, nowadays studies on private security is going on actively. But in reality, serious studies on theoretical backgrounds of private security has not been made yet. Currently, almost all of the theories propose various grounds, such as administrative, economic, and social grounds. And they are based on five backgrounds, that is, profit-oriented enterprise theory, economic reduction theory, vacuum theory, interest group theory, and private management theory. The article furnishes several grounds in addition to these. They are local self-government, management of local self-government, and task-force of guard enterprise. In this article, I am going to present some perspectives in classifying the theories. They are administrative, economic, and social perspective. They are shown as follows by figure. In conclusion, based on theoretical backgrounds mentioned above, private security will be advanced constantly in the future. But in carrying out studies on private security, approaching method of proposing the developmental model is more important than theoretical approaching method.

Fungal pathogens have huge impact on health and economic wellbeing of human by causing life-threatening mycoses in immune-compromised patients or by destroying crop plants. A key determinant of fungal pathogenesis is their ability to undergo developmental change in response to host or environmental factors. Genetic pathways that regulate such morphological transitions and adaptation are therefore extensively studied during the last few decades. Given that epigenetic as well as genetic components play pivotal roles in development of plants and mammals, contribution of microbial epigenetic counterparts to this morphogenetic process is intriguing yet nearly unappreciated question to date. To bridge this gap in our knowledge, we set out to investigate histone modifications among epigenetic mechanisms that possibly regulate fungal adaptation and processes involved in pathogenesis of a model plant pathogenic fungus, Magnaporthe oryzae. For functional and comparative analysis of histone modifications, a web-based database (dbHiMo) was constructed first to archive and analyze histone modifying enzymes from eukaryotic species whose genome sequences are available. Based on the database entries, we carried out functional analysis of genes encoding histone modifying enzymes. Here I provide examples of such analyses that show how histone acetylation and methylation is implicated in regulating important aspects of fungal pathogenesis. Current analysis of histone modifying enzymes is followed by ChIP-seq and RNA-seq experiments to pinpoint the genes that are controlled by particular histone modifications. We anticipate that our work will provide not only the significant advances in our understanding of epigenetic mechanisms operating in microbial eukaryotes but also basis to expand our perspective on regulation of development in fungal pathogens.
