A Study on Cost Avoidance and Total Life Cycle Cost to Analysis of Effectiveness of the Management of DMSMS (부품단종관리 효용성 분석을 위한 회피비용 및 총수명주기비용에 대한 연구)

  • The share of advanced technology in modern weapon systems are gradually increasing, and life cycle of components are shortened due to the rapid speed of technological development. On the other hand, the weapon systems have a characteristic that takes a long time in the requirement stage of weapon to the operation and maintenance stage. Due to inevitably, obsolescence of the main components for parts occurs in the acquisition phase. The obsolescence parts could cause delays in mass production schedules, and further adversely affects operational availability due to poor supply of repair parts during in the maintenance phase. However, business managers are obliged to maximize the performance while minimizing the cost of the total life cycle of the design, production, and operation stages. It is necessary to establish and implement an appropriate components and parts of life cycle management plan. In this research, we analyzed the effectiveness of parts obsolescence management through cost avoidance and total life cycle cost that can be reduced through proper parts obsolescence management.

  • The environment which has been destroyed for the national growth since 1960's would seem to offer infinite resources to human, but now, the existence of human being is threatened by the development thoughtless for the environment. The World Powers have concentrated on green growth with eco-friendly resource since the end of 20th century. Korea suggested that the vision was the low carbon for green growth in 2008. It is necessary to supply Long-Life Housing in the green technology in terms of the sustainable housing development based on various life style, life cycle of the residences, the restrain remodeling and redevelopment in construction. This study is aim to establish the development of maintenance process to make continuous inhabitation of Long-Life Housing that has the separated SI for maintenance, durability, variability and remodeling. The maintenance for Long-Life Housing is very important to have more than 50~70 years the long term of life cycle in comparison with Housing. Also, the roles of manager and user are important parts in Long-Life Housing. The present maintenance for Housing is shift and repair works by the routine maintenance and demage. However, The maintenance for Long-Life Housing should consider movement and flexibility. In addition, Long-Life Housing requires the proper process of maintenance because it is different from Housing in housing concept, design and constructions stage. Therefore this study shows the efficient maintenance process for Long-Life Housing.

  • The activities of managing and controlling the configuration of a system component over its life cycle are critical tasks in developing a high safety system as well as general system development. These configuration management activities should be defined through the management plan at the beginning of the life cycle, and should be performed continuously and systematically until the end of the project after the system or product development is completed. In this study, the configuration management process applied in the development of high safety railway signaling system was introduced and an efficient application proposals of it was proposed. In particular, configuration management through the establishment of a configuration management system based on computer tools is one of the important activities of maintaining the configuration integrity of the system or product.

  • As environmental damage increase by a highly developed material civilization of today, many companies take a growing immensely interest in the influence of environment for beginning a new paradigm year by year. The previous assessments dose not run the gamut of industry but is confined within a certain facility or an area. Industrial processes and operations can not be accomplished independently but are connected with each others through suppliers and customer, and these ideas are fundamental notions of Life Cycle Assessment(LCA). This paper will introduce Life Cycle Assessment(LCA) n environment which is rising, and would like to build environmental management system using approach of Quality Function Development(QFD) and Safety Function Development(SFD) belonging to the assessment method.

  • Software quality is classified by quality of process and product. In experience of Quality Management, it is known that quality level of product as it depends on goodness and badness of process and organization. As a result, improvement of software process has been important subject. According as this trends, ISO 12207 is publicated as standard of software life cycle process by ISO. For UML based object oriented development process, it is necessary that we should research detailed definition of activity and task of ISO 12207 process which is added, deleted or tailored in according to organization and project characteristics. In this thesis, by according with ISO 12207 software life cycle process, UML based object oriented development process is proposed. This process is composed of 7 steps and 19 activities including development phase, activity and product to improve quality of reliability. Usefulness of object oriented process for improvement of software quality is proved at three ways, which are comparative analysis of process characteristics, SPICE process evaluation and SPICE rick analysis.

  • Industrial Technology Development Program enables the recipient to set up technology infrastructure and to facilitate technology diffusion. In return, government charges royalty from the program recipient. However, the current royalty system is not in the effective form. This study analyzes the various aspects of royalty collection methods applied to the Industrial Technology Development Program and recommend the following: (1) employ the combination of fixed amount royalty and running royalty with predetermined portion of revenue generated, (2) adjust the royalty collection duration by applying product life cycle, and (3) devise new program to link extra-gain from royalty collection with commercialization and other means to increase the effectiveness of research and development activities.

A Study on the Life Cycle Analysis of Domestic Tourist Areas (국내 관광지의 수명주기 분석 연구)

  • Korean tourist areas are designated/managed in accordance with the Tourism Promotion Act. Since Taejongdae was designated as a tourist area in 1969, a total of 230 tourist areas have been designated/built/operated. It has been 46 years since the first tourist area was designated. According to the Tourism Area Life Cycle by Butler, it is estimated that the flow of the life cycle will be reflected in ups and downs over time. Thus, this study aimed to provide basic data for suggesting the direction of changes and development of the future tourist areas after analyzing the life cycle stage of domestic tourist areas, by applying the Tourism Area Life Cycle by Butler. The research method was based on the tourist areas by year, the number of visitors, and data of the target to derive the change transition curve, obtained by dividing the life cycle stages of the tourist areas based on the visitor rate of change. In the analysis results, more than 1/3 of domestic tourist areas are reaching the stagnation/decline stage, and tourist areas such as hot springs and seaside/beach resources show a particularly high ratio of stagnation/decline. The tourist areas that already have reached the stagnation/decline stage will need to analyze the causes for the decline, seek for resolution measures, and introduce new innovative elements. Even though the results of this study are not sufficient to be used as an absolute standard to decide the life cycle stage of domestic tourist areas, it is considered to be adequate for phenomenologically understanding the life cycle stage of Korean tourist areas. Based on this study, the causes for the stagnation/decline of tourist areas can be revealed while it can be also used as basic research to establish revitalization measures for tourist areas by introducing new innovation.

  • This study is described for the RAMS activities of performed to 2008.12 ~ 2010.10 KTX CTC Project. RAMS activities follow EN50126, EN50128, EN50129. CENELEC standards(EN50126, EN50128, EN50129) to the System Development Life-cycle are defined. This study is RAMS activities of life-cycle that can be found to satisfy SIL2.   • Recently, Life Cycle Cost (LCC) for civil infrastructures, such as pavements, bridges, and dams, has been emphasized. However there are few cost models for road tunnel especially for maintenance phase. The road network is composed of highways, bridges, and road tunnels. Thus it is as important as for road tunnels to keep safe for traffic. The maintenance strategies for road tunnels can be achieved based on the minimization of LCC in maintenance phase. For this purpose, in this paper, cost model and cost classification for road tunnel in maintenance phase are suggested.
