  • Double skin façade is known that several features affected the building energy and daylighting performance. That is why the envelope is able to consist of all architectural materials such as glass, aluminum, wood and insulation for vision of residents and workers in buildings. Its specifications is very diverse according to the building designers and building owners. In recent times, visual environment became a major focus and resulted in the development of cutting edge engineering of diverse glazing systems and shading devices by growing interests of friendly environment. Thus this research has evaluated the fluctuations of interior lighting and atmospheric conditions based on double skin facade systems. Especially in terms of daylighting environment as dependent on solar variations, this research provides quantitative analysis of interior lighting conditions and how it affects the living conditions as well as improve the design of interior spaces.

모바일 환경을 위한 웹 컨텐츠 추출기법 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of a Filtering Technique ofWeb Contents for the Mobile Environment)

  • Mobile devices compared with personal computers on the desktop have low bandwidths, small screens, and relatively slow speeds. These systems have practical problems with information searches in a web environment. Information searching of various web contents on the small size screen has especially severe limitations. We propose a filtering technique of web contents which can overcome the limitations of small size screens and meet the user requirements in a PDA environment. For these constructions, we first divide the screen into segment blocks and then extract content blocks according to the user requirements, so that only filtered web contents will be shown. The performance evaluation of the proposed technique saves an average time of about 30% by displaying only the extracted information instead of the whole web page.

청천공 조건에서 조광제어 시스템 적용시 조도변화에 대한 시각적 만족도 분석 (The Influence of Illuminance Variation by a Daylight Dimming Control System on Visual Comfort Under Clear Sky Conditions)

  • This study examines the influence of light variation on visual responses in a small office space where a daylight dimming control system is applied. Field measurements and survey were performed in a full-scale mocked-up small office space under clear sky day conditions. Maximum fluctuation range for desktop was 133.5 lx and it just happened once for entire monitoring period. For the majority of time, the fluctuation range did not exceed 50 lx, which did not cause visual discomfort to subjects. The daylight dimming control system successfully kept required illuminance levels for an office environment when desktop illuminance by daylight ranged up to 300 lx. The most serious contributor to the sensation of glare was direct daylight through window. The dimming of electric light was not a significant contributor to visual discomfort for the subjects under clear sky day conditions. Visual comfort was significantly influenced by the sensation of glare, feeling for visual stimulation and distraction, and required illuminance level.

  • In this paper, we have designed a Home Networking System using an embedded linux board. The system based on the World-Wide-Web is composed of three parts - a Server, a Client and a Simulator. The Home Networking Server is built in an embedded board using an embedded linux kernel. A web-server and Home Networking Server Seryice Demon programming with a Jaya-Language is included in the board. Clients can connect to the server board using a web-browser in the desktop computer, PDA or any other machines which include a web-browser. For this purpose, we made the client program using a Java-Applet. So, the clients who connect to the server for the control of the applications, download the class-file and execute the client-program in the web-browser. So, the clients don't need any other programs to control the applications from a remote place. The size of server board is very small (86.3$\times$74mm), which makes it very useful not only for the Home-Networking-System but also in many other fields, e.g., embedded robot control system, etc. Using an embedded board instead of a desktop computer is good for a simple network environment and it occupies only a small space to make the system.

  • In this paper, we propose and developed a keyglove using the touch-typing method as new solutions to the problem of text input into the mobile computing devices. This device recognizes that character is typed in though the hand's movements analysis and requires no additional space on a person's desktop or work surface, and can be easily used with computers of any size, even the smallest mobile computer, and is designed as an input device for wearable computers and virtual environment. The concept of the wearable input device based on human hand-molies recognition.

  • Virtual reality (VR) opened the possibility of moving beyond the 2-D world of conventional desktop systems to an immersive, multi-sensory environment generated by computer graphics. Haptic feedback (Haptics) is now starting to get recognition and use in intensive applications for manipulation, while smell and taste feedback are at the stage of early research. This paper reviews some current works on increased haptic feedback augmentation in virtual reality applications.

  • We often experience complex presence of files within the compute environment. It could be an end-user's desktop environment or a professional part of file management. We would like to suggest one way to manage these different cases of duplicate files. It is a rule-based file management tool, and we want to use it as a tool to consolidate facility management log files. In this paper, we will describe the rule-based file management tools and show examples of how files are managed using them. We are interested in the management of the disaster environment and would like to apply this method to the management of log data related to facilities to be considered in the event of a disaster.

  • 최근 모바일 서비스의 발전과 모바일 기기의 사용 증가로 모바일 환경은 컴퓨터 그래픽스 분야에서 주목 받는 영역으로 부상하고 있다. 지금까지 비실사적 렌더링 기법은 데스크 탑 플랫폼을 기반으로 연구 되었으며 모바일 기기에서의 구현을 위한 노력은 부족하였다. 하드웨어적 한계를 가진 모바일 기기에 비실사적 렌더링 기법을 적용하기 위해서는 단말기의 제약성을 고려하여 렌더링 파이프 라인의 변화를 통한 새로운 프로세싱 기법이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 비실사적 기법 중 최근 여러 분야에서 사용되고 있는 카툰 렌더링 기법을 모바일 환경에서 구현하기 위한 3차원 그래픽스 렌더링 파이프 라인과 카툰 쉐이딩 전처리 기법을 제안한다. 본 연구 결과로 모바일 디스플레이 환경에 맞는 실루엣 에지 렌더링과 쉐이딩 과정의 일부를 파일로 전처리하는 프로세싱 기법을 사용하게 됨으로써 사용자는 원하는 수준의 카툰 렌더링 결과물을 모바일 환경에서 실시간으로 접할 수 있으며 따라서 추후 모바일 서비스 이용의 효율을 높이고 모바일 콘텐츠 다양화에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

품질 관점에서 가상 데스크탑 인프라(VDI)의 만족과 성과, 그리고 업무 상호의존성의 조절효과 (Exploring the Moderating Effect of Interdependence on Performance and Satisfaction in Virtual Work Environment)

  • With the explosive proliferation of smart devices that may be connected to the fast Internet, virtual desktop interfaces(VDI) are being implemented in enterprises allowing employees to work anywhere anytime in the same technological environment. As this kind of systems are intended to raise the work performance, a research model is constructed from the review of research literature on service quality and work design. The model consists of VDI system service quality (ubiquity, availability, compatibility, security and ease of use), system satisfaction, task performance and job satisfaction. As VDI is designed as a support system for cooperative work, the task interdependence adopted from the work design theory is postulated here as moderating the effect of user satisfaction on task performance and job satisfaction. 147 data points were collected by a survey of VDI users in a global firm and subjected to PLS analysis. Interestingly, ubiquity and compatibility seem to be not statistically significant for user satisfaction while availability, security and ease of use of VDI system are statistically significant. Task interdependence is found to be a relatively strong mediator between system user satisfaction and task performance, however, interestingly, the coefficient come out as negative. This may indicate that the influence of VDI user satisfaction on task performance would not be high in highly interdependent tasks. Considering that VDI is intended for supporting 'interdependence' in cooperative work, this finding is a bit surprising. In-depth discussions are made in the discussion followed by future research directions.

무선 센서 네트워크를 이용한 멀티미디어 병해충 예측 관리 시스템 설계 및 구현 (A Design and Implementation of Multimedia Pest Prediction Management System using Wireless Sensor Network)

  • 온실을 통해 시설원예작물을 재배하는 대대수의 농업인들은 병해충의 예측, 진단 및 방제에 큰 관심을 가지고 있으며, 특히 농가에서는 병해충 관리 문제가 생산량과 품질에 직결되는 가장 큰 문제로 대두되고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 토양 및 환경 센서를 이용하여 무선 센서 네트워크를 구성하고 이를 토대로 온실 내의 작물의 병해충에 대한 조기 예측 및 관리를 가능하게 하는 멀티미디어 병해충 예측 관리 시스템을 설계 및 구현한다. 제안하는 시스템은 기존 고가의 PLC 장비에 비해 온실 내에 무선 센서 네트워크를 형성하여 효율적으로 병해충정보를 데이터베이스화하고 토양 및 온도, 습도, 조도와 같은 다양한 환경 정보를 수집할 수 있다. 아울러 시스템의 수행성을 검증하기 위해 가상 온실 모형을 제작한 후, 모형에 토양 및 환경 센서의 시스템 구성요소를 구성하여 각 플랫폼(Desktop, Web, PDA)별 GUI를 구현하여 온실상태에 따라 병해충 예측 및 관리가 가능한 수행 결과를 보였다. 마지막으로 제안한 시스템을 이용하여 온실 작물의 병해충 예측 관리가 다양한 플랫폼에서 잘 동작함을 확인할 수 있었다.
