Property-based Design of Ion-Channel-Targeted Library

  • The design of ion channel targeted library is a valuable methodology that can aid in the selection and prioritization of potential ion channel-likeness for ion-channel-targeted bio-screening from large commercial available chemical pool. The differences of property profiling between the 93 ion-channel active compounds from MDDR and CMC database and the ACDSC compounds were classified by suitable descriptors calculated with preADME software. Through the PCA, clustering, and similarity analysis, the compounds capable of ion channel activity were defined in ACDSC compounds pool. The designed library showed a tendency to follow the property profile of ion-channel active compounds and can be implemented with great time and economical efficiencies of ligand-based drug design or virtual high throughput screening from an enormous small molecule space.

  • The End-milling has been widely used in the industrial world because it is effective to cutting working with various shape. Recently the end-milling is demanded the high-precise technique with good surface roughness and rapid manufacturing time for precision machine and electronic elements. The cutting working of end-milling such as, cutting direction, revolution of spindle, feed rate and depth of cut have an effect on optimum surface roughness. This study was carried out to decide the working condition for optimum surface roughness and rapid manufacturing time by design of experiment and ANOVA. From the results of this study, the optimum working condition for end milling is upward cutting in cutting direction, 600rpm in revolution of spindle, 240mm/mm in feed rate, 2mm in axial depth of cut and 0 25mm in radial depth of cut. The design of experiment has become an useful method to select optimum working condition mend-milling.

  • Futurism can be defined as a movement in the early 20th century founded by Italian writer Marinetti apposing to traditional and conservative art. Though its life as a movement seemed to be fairly short, it can be said that the very essence of futurism can be seen whenever there is radical change in our society such as the information revolution. Even though the information revolution has brought us many positive improvements our life including art and design, lately there are also discussions about the defects in our life. Ron Arad may be considered as a designer and artist whose intentions and expressions are very similar to those of futurism. This study investigates concepts, meanings, and expressions of futurism in art history and then those of Ron Arad's shown in interior design projects. By examining selected project examples the author defined that rather than optimistic viewpoints, avant-garde and technological aspects were found to be strong in symbolic qualities. As for expressive qualities, dynamism and continuity appeared to be Ron Arad's unique expressions, very similar to those of futurism on the other hand, purity and temporarily were found less. It is hoped that the study may be a help in better understanding futuristic qualities of Ron Arad, one of the radical and experimental designers of our age.

  • This paper is to analyze the classification of textile pattern design focusing on the 19th century in England. The purpose of this study is. firstly to research the thoughts and ideas of these design in the time of mid-Victorian age; Secondly. to classify the textile pattern design from many points of view. We could find such William Morris's thought and ideas of 19th century to reform from textile pattern design. We wish to use these studies for textile pattern designers to develop this tradition onward to modern and future trends.

  • In a conventional system, hydraulic unit pumps out pressurized oil when the power use is not even necessary. As a result, it causes much power loss. This study is on the proposal of new hydraulic unit which controls the revolution of the pump in order to produce proper power needed and to have good response characteristic. In addition, the existing control methods such as PID control method, fuzzy control method, and adaptive control method are applied to the proposed hydraulic unit. Then the best control method is selected and the controller is developed to realize minimum power loss.

This paper introduces the diverse kinds of approaches to subjects that tackle diverse kinds of research fields such as model-based MS approach, deep neural network model, image edge detection approach, cross-layer optimization model, LSSVM approach, screen design approach, CPU-GPU hybrid approach and so on.   • The purpose of this study is to propose the direction of convergence design curriculum of domestic universities in order to cultivate ablility of empathy in the $4^{th}$ industrial revolution era. The research methodology was firstly reviewed through the literature review, and the theoretical background about the background and design reengineering which became important in the time of the superconducting connection was examined, and the case study of the present situation of the convergence design curriculum of the domestic and foreign universities. As a result, it suggests a curriculum for the integration of undergraduate and graduate curriculum, which is a curriculum in which the design based on empathy is the key to linking other academic fields. Based on this, I hope that it will be used as a reference material for the activation of convergence design education in Korea in the future.

Design Tolerance of High Speed Spindle considering the Variation of Ball Contact Angle in the Angular Contact Ball Bearings (고속 주축베어링의 볼 접촉각 변동을 고려한 주축 설계공차)

  • Angular contact ball bearings in a high speed spindles are under the extreme conditions, such as high temperature, big centrifugal force and thrust cutting forces. So, the assembly contacts between spindle shaft and inner ring bearings, bearing housing and outer ring of bearings are occasionally unstable at high speed revolution. Furthermore, the ball contact angle of a bearing, which influence stiffness and lifetime of bearings, are changed according to loads and rotational speed. To analyze internal forces of a bearing under high speed revolution, the ball contact are calculated using nonlinear equations in consideration of rotational speed, thrust loads and raceway form. Diameter increase of inner and outer ring by influence factors, such as internal forces to inner and outer ring, centrifugal force and temperature of inner and outer rings are calculated to establish stable state in bearing assembly in high speed spindle. Finally, contribution ratio of influence factor to assembly design tolerance of inner and outer rings are shown and the stable assembly design tolerance are proposed.

Design and operation of the transparent integral effect test facility, URI-LO for nuclear innovation platform

  • Conventional integral effect test facilities were constructed to enable the precise observation of thermal-hydraulic phenomena and reactor behaviors under postulated accident conditions to prove reactor safety. Although these facilities improved the understanding of thermal-hydraulic phenomena and reactor safety, applications of new technologies and their performance tests have been limited owing to the cost and large scale of the facilities. Various nuclear technologies converging 4th industrial revolution technologies such as artificial intelligence, drone, and 3D printing, are being developed to improve plant management strategies. Additionally, new conceptual passive safety systems are being developed to enhance reactor safety. A new integral effect test facility having a noticeable scaling ratio, i.e., the (UNIST reactor innovation loop (URI-LO), is designed and constructed to improve the technical quality of these technologies by performance and feasibility tests. In particular, the URI-LO, which is constructed using a transparent material, enables better visualization and provides physical insights on multidimensional phenomena inside the reactor system. The facility design based on three-level approach is qualitatively validated with preliminary analyses, and its functionality as a test facility is confirmed through a series of experiments. The design feature, design validation, functionality test, and future utilization of the URI-LO are introduced.
