The purpose of this study is to observe artistic of Expressionism reflected to works of European costume designers by analizing works of seven major representative costume designers in the twentieth century. They are Mariano Fortuny, Paul poiret, Madelene Vionnet, Jean Patou, Jeanne Lanvin, Gabriel Chanel and Elsa Schiaparelli. These designers deployed individual and various creative costume design work with peculiar expresive techniques, which is based on the Expressionism. Although each creative work was made in extremely unique sense, there was comon expressive spirituality I their creative activity. The findings are as follows : 1. Based on the "Medieval-directed characteristic" which arose over all fields of art of those days, a modern and reformative clothing beauty was created by reanalyzing traditional motive. 2 Characteristic of Cubistic Expressionism were described in overall silhouette of clothing and fine decorative element. 3. Fantastic Expressionism, which pursued basic worth from the primitive and ethnic customs, effected costume style of early 20th century and draw such designers as Mariano Fortuny, Leon Bakst, Paul Poiet, Elsa Schiaqarelli to adopt intensive and primary color. And it also gave an impact against traditional concepts by accepting fantastic oriental Exoticism.Exoticism.

The plunger speed of solenoid actuator is affected by mass of plunger, magnetic motive force, inductance, and return spring. These factors are not independent but related with each other according to design characteristics of solenoid actuator. So, it is impossible to change the designed value for the purpose of increasing plunger speed. In this study, we have analyzed the characteristics of high-speed solenoid actuator having a non-magnetic ring which plays a role to concentrate the effective magnetic flux into plunger. For more detailed analysis, we have performed FEM analysis and decided the optimal attaching position and length on the guide tube based on these results. And, we proved the propriety of the non-magnetic ring effect by experiments.

In this paper, torques of two motors are compared by Finite Element Analysis (FEA). One has a symmetric rotor structure and the other has an asymmetric rotor structure. The comparison shows that the asymmetric rotor structured motor has reduced torque ripple compared to the symmetric. The torque of the compared motor models was analyzed by separating into magnetic torque and reluctance torque. Through the analysis of torque component separated, it is shown that the magnetic torque and the reluctance torque compensate each other in the motor with the asymmetric structure rotor. Here "compensate" means decrementing the effect of one or more harmonics. It is shown how this compensation appears between the magnetic torque and the reluctance torque by looking into back electro motive force (emf) and the relative permeability distribution of rotor core.

Solenoid actuator's operating speed is affected by magnetic motive force, plunger mass, inductance, return spring constant, and eddy current. Recently, non-magnetic ring is generally used for improving the operational speed, because it is impossible that changing of any specified design factor and stacking of plunger steel. This paper represents the dynamic equations of solenoid actuator, simulations for the response characteristics, analysis of eddy current effect by using the induced time constant. And, we experiment for the operating characteristics in case of non-magnetic ring is exists and not exists in the plunger.

In this paper, air gap flux density is calculated by permeance model which can consider the effects of the stator slot and the salient pole shape of the salient synchronous generator. No load Electro-motive force(EMF) of the short-pitched and distributed stator winding is also calculated. Therefore, it's very convenient to calculate the THD of the no load EMF for the user's request, in the first design state.

Driving mechanism, the central part of a robot, was designed in this study. Power for the motive drive was acquired by directly connecting the motor shaft in worm shape of the low-end DC motor, car window motor, to a decelerator. The decelerator consists of a worm gear to receive power from the motor shaft, a pinion gear to be connected in line with the worm gear, and an output shaft to be engaged to the pinion gear. Motion driving is achieved by the power from the motor shaft with the designed gears, transferred to the deceleration mechanism and to the output gear.

The study analyzed the characteristic of school uniform, focusing on Ewha Woman's University of Seoul, reflected present trend as well as characteristic and symbol of school and developed uniform design for advertising Ewha Woman's University. The purpose of this study is to propose uniform that can be discriminated from that of other university and increase advertisement effect with mental superiority and pride in university by trying uniform design development, which can provide school and student with satisfaction, and reflecting present trend as well as characteristic and symbol of school. The study is meaningful because it can be basic materials for various uniform designs, connecting function, symbol and trend to uniform development. The uniform for school advertisement was manufactured in a way to reflect characteristic and image of school, escape from fixed idea preferring traditional design in the past and reflect trend. It is expected that the uniform created with symbolic image of school will give high advertisement effect and improve school image by providing student with sense of coherence and discriminated feeling in various events and the meeting with other school students. Moreover, the student wearing the uniform with splendid design will feel mental superiority and have pride in school at the same time. In conclusion, the uniform reflecting trend is proper for the uniform of advertisement helper representing school as long as it can reflect characteristic and image of school. It will be also helpful for developing wider design and more splendid uniform because the study can create the motive to apply trend to other uniform that does not adopt trend.

This research is a study of fashion design that applied formative features of formal beauty of architecture into clothing design; we focused on Gaudi's architectural style as well as Art Nouveau style that became popular from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century. We noted that in general the simple and flat features of cloth impose a limitation on the expression of formal features in clothing design, but a unique diversity of designs can be achieved, evoking a sense of freshness by an ideal combination of flat patterns and draping. The aim of this research is to present a possibility of extending the sphere of design expression by creating three-dimensional clothes with pattern-cutting skills and applications of three-dimensional patterns as well as flat patterns found in Gaudi's works of architecture that are distinguished in curvaceousness and formal beauty. As for the research method, we reviewed previous studies by making a close review of books, papers, the pictures and web sites related to this topic. We made our clothes on the basis of this theoretical consideration. We found the following points. First, by presenting a work of fashion inspired by architectural designs, we realized that formal beauty in architect can become a motive for clothing design in a broad scale by noting the formal images, decoration details, and formative features of architectural works. Second, the characteristic lines of Gaudi's architecture are suitable to be adapted for expressing the detailed lines of decoration in clothes. Third, we can express formative beauty in clothes by highlighting the variation of shapes and lines through various attempts of change in background pattern, even though there is a limitation in the availability of cloth material because we must choose pieces of cloth with right texture and thickness that can be cut and sewn appropriately to express formative beauty. Fourth, we confirmed that it was possible to create unique formative designs by a creative application of both flat and three-dimensional cutting.

As the cultures of the world are getting diverse and plural, many trials to find their own unique culture of their own national and racial characteristics are made where fashion and traditional culture is used as good materials; in Korea, this trend is also studied by many authors. To achieve this goal, this study recognized the importance of tourism industry by inviting hosting of international event like '2005 APEC Summit Conference and Economical Ministers' Conference', and invented a uniform design that can make identification in the world market including Korea 'Gust' and 'Emotion' in developing uniforms for employees of regular traditional restaurant or hotels that contribute to tourism industry. As a material of this study from this perspective, Soo Bok pattern among many other Korean traditional patterns were chosen, and used them to design uniforms by applying diverse expressions methods through modernization task. This study tried to suggest ideas in creating new designs with a modeling sense of our people, by emphasizing on tradition motive through analysis of conditions and problem regarding the current uniforms worn in traditional restaurants. The development of uniform that modernly reinterprets traditional patterns and design that uses tradition on modern design shows endless possibility of development of our uniform, and even shows the possibility of mixture between tradition and modernity. By applying traditional beauty not only in traditional restaurants but also in many places and businesses that foreigners frequently visit can allow to spread the excellency our culture; and the Korean uniform can be successful in the international market as Korean will have pride in our tradition by wearing this new uniform.
