  • Today, as era of Internet competition, experimental magazines-created especially for young adult group-are also trying to convert themselves into a internet magazines. This study intends to find out contents format and visual expression that should be considered for on-line conversion of these magazines. The industry's leading experimental magazines, for example, 'ttl', 'Paper', and 'webzine sponge' which co-exist in both printed and web-based format are to be examined by their contents, typography, colors, pictures& illustrations and others. This study intends to exam and suggest possible contents format and visual expression which they ought to evolve with.

Anti-aging Discourses Targeted at Women in Their 20s -Young Fashion Magazine 『Céci』- (20대 여성 대상 안티에이징 담론 분석 -영패션잡지 『쎄씨(Céci)』를 중심으로-)

  • With the increasing media representation of aging as negative and abnormal, anti-aging products and discourses are spreading to younger generations. This paper analyzes the anti-aging discourse in a fashion magazine targeted towards women in their 20s. It quantitatively analyzes the historical development of the antiaging industry and discourses from 1994 to 2014 in the magazine "$C{\acute{e}}ci$". It also analyzes the patterns of signification associated with aging in the magazine through the use of critical discourse analysis. This paper identifies five major discourses -"segmentation of the definitions of youthful appearance", "scientific and medical discourse", "self-care discourse", "prevention of aging", and "social values of youthful appearances". The paper finds that the construction of anti-aging discourses towards women in their 20s is heavily influenced by the close link between the anti-aging industry and the fashion media. It also confirms the ideology of self-development though a rigorous appearance-management that is strongly imposed on Korean women and subsequently reproduced in an anti-aging discourse towards women in their 20s.

  • Mendini works architect of magazine. He is a era-transcending designer who started design in late fifties and still works actively. In his design, there are some ordinary emotions which make people easier to approch to than without having any resistance. The purpose of this research paper is to define the traits of Mendini's design work. There are four main characters in his design; post-modernism, combination of art and design, use of contemporary art and traditionary italian colors and redesign. Mendini interpret tradition in modern way. His individuality came from the tradition, and also he modernized italian tradition to it.

  • In this study, the algorithm for the optimum design of cantilever retaining wall was de veloped and solved using Modified Method of Feasible Directions(MMFD), Sequential Linear Programming(SLP) and Sequential Quadratic Programming(SQP). The algorithm was applied to the optimum design of 3-different height cantilever re tairing walls. It was shown that even though the starting points and optimization strategies are dif- ferent, the objective function and optimum design variables converge to within a close range, and consequently the reliability and efficiency of the underlying optimum design algorithm can be verified. It is expected that the optimum design algorithm developed in this study can be utilized efficiently for the optimum design of any scale cantilever retaining wall. Using optimum design method, cantilever retaining wall will be designed more economi- cally and reasonably than using traditional design method.

  • The irrigation facilities are managed systematically and a facility is independent at the view of shape and function. The design of the irrigation facility is the formulated process with independent objectives. So its process is accordance to object-oriented concept. The design of irrigation facilities is classified into several steps. In these steps, the design data is made and the various problems are solved and consolidated with analysis and decision. In order to achieve our goal of constructing an efficient integrated design system, the results from the design should be able to be systematically connected and re-used. In the study, the design task of irrigation facility, the integrated design system for (IDSAF) is to be developed using the object-oriented methods, and then its applicability will be examined.

  • A PSWATH is a computer program for the determination of principal particulars of Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull (SWATH) Ship design at the preliminary design stage. This paper describes the PSWATH system and the underlying theory. The major calculation modules are hull definition, resistance and propulsion, weight estimation and pitch stability analysis. Use of the model is illustrated by input, output and means of examples.

  • Shrink-rings (stress-rings) are used in the fabrication of compaction dies to increase the allowable pressures for a given die material. This paper proposes a new approach, where the maximum allowable shrinking pressures are calculated on shrinked plans in the radial direction and then the fractional fitting pressures below the maximum shrinking pressures are used as the design values. A study on the design elements expressed in Korean costumes in the 2010s (2010년대 한국복식에 표현된 디자인요소에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify trends in modern Korean clothing design through investigation and analysis of the types and respective characteristics of silhouettes, colors, materials, patterns, and decorations present. To this end, research methods such as literature research and content analysis through case study research were used. The results of the wedding magazine data analysis were largely classified by design element and based on such, the conclusions are as follows. First, in the analysis of silhouettes, the appearance rate of traditional items decreased over the selected period and that of modified items increased. Second, among the same colors, adjacent colors, proximity complementary colors, contrast, and other harmonies, adjacent color harmonies showed the highest rate of appearance. Third, the cases where the same materials were used for the top and bottom elements showed a similar appearance rate as those where different materials were used. It was also concluded that traditional materials are being replaced by modern materials. Fourth, regarding the arrangement of patterns, the appearance rate of the absence of patterns gradually increases. Fifth, there were more case of decorations than those of none. This study made it possible to grasp the changes in trends of modern Korean clothing from 2011 to 2020 and provide basic data for the development of the Korean clothing market industry.
