Drowsy Driving Detection Algorithm Using a Steering Angle Sensor And State of the Vehicle (조향각센서와 차량상태를 이용한 졸음운전 판단 알고리즘)

  • An effective drowsy driver detection system is needed, because the probability of accident is high for drowsy driving and its severity is high at the time of accident. However, the drowsy driver detection system that uses bio-signals or vision is difficult to be utilized due to high cost. Thus, this paper proposes a drowsy driver detection algorithm by using steering angle sensor, which is attached to the most of vehicles at no additional cost, and vehicle information such as brake switch, throttle position signal, and vehicle speed. The proposed algorithm is based on jerk criterion, which is one of drowsy driver's steering patterns. In this paper, threshold value of each variable is presented and the proposed algorithm is evaluated by using acquired vehicle data from hardware in the loop simulation (HILS) through CAN communication and MATLAB program.

A Study on Clothing Life Style and Clothing Selection Behavior of the New Generation Consumer (신세대의 의생활양식과 의복선택행동에 관한 연구)

  • The ultimate purpose of this study is to suggest the most effective marketing strategy for the clothing consumer market based on the new generation consumer's clothing selection behavior analysis. In this thesis, it is appempted to make a progress in the new gen-eration consumer's clothing life style types, in clothing purchase behavior analysis among the clothing life style, and also in the marketing strategy for marketers. The subjects selected for the final analysis are 412 the new gerneration women of age 20 thru 34 in seoul and satellite town area. Data were processed the spss package program. As for the analytic method, factor analysis, clustering analysis, XCross-tubulation, F-test with ANOVA, frequency and percentage were applied in the survey. The major findings are as following : life style is classified into four types : The characteristic fashion-directory type(25.7%) ; The reason traditional type(9.0%) ; The sen-sitivity fashion-following type(11.0%) ; The community brand-conscious type(54.3%). 2 Clothing life style types characteristic of the new generation consumer proved that clothing life style types are a significant difference according to the life style, the fashion consciousness and the average monthly spend-ing on clothing. 3. There is an important discrimination according to the clothing life style types in their clothing purchase behavior such as infor-mation usage, clothing choice criterion and brand loyalty. 4. Based on the result of our analysis and the review of literature, the marketing strategy is suggested that characteristic and new design development is efficient way to consumer's purchase need. Therefore apparel industary which pursue an added value must frame marketing strategy on the basis of the target consumer's sensitivity characteristic according to the life style and fashion consciousness.

A Study on Sociocultural Attitudes toward Appearance and Clothing and Cosmetics Purchasing Behaviors of Male Consumers - Focused on Comparative Analysis between 20s~30s and 40s~50s - (남성 소비자의 외모에 대한 사회문화적 태도와 의복 및 화장품 구매행동 연구 - 2030대와 4050대의 비교분석을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences of sociocultural attitudes toward appearance, clothing and cosmetics purchasing behaviors according to male consumer's age group. The research method was survey and subjects were 656 male consumers. The results were as follows. First, three factors (appearance importance awareness, appearance internalization, and slimness importance awareness) were emerged on sociocultural attitudes toward appearance. Young age group showed higher level of appearance importance awareness and internalization than middle age group. Second, there were many differences on clothing purchasing behaviors by age variable. Young age group more importantly considered psycho-social purchasing motives, aesthetic selection criteria, and the internet as information source and purchasing place than middle age group. Whereas middle age group more importantly considered practical purchasing motives, practical selection criteria, and store display & salesman as information sources, and fashion outlet as purchasing place than young age group. Third, there were also many differences on cosmetics purchasing behaviors by age variable. Young age group used more and various cosmetics, and they more importantly considered skin improvement as purchasing motive, skin suitability and price as selection criteria, the internet as information source and purchasing place than middle age group. On the other hand, middle age group generally used fundamental cosmetics, and they more importantly considered skin protection as purchasing motive, quality as selection criterion, TV and store display & salesman as information sources, and discount store and cosmetics speciality store as purchasing places than young age group.

  • Previously sailing yachts or leisure yachts were mainly made from FRP(Fiber glass reinforced plastic) in the small shipbuilding, but recently there is a trend to replace it for steel or aluminum to substitute FRP for environmental friendly materials. Although It have to need a many checked item in case of hull girder strength and transverse strength normally evaluate base on calculation of class guideline so called direct calculation method. Otherwise. this method of initial structural design considered enough for safety margin on the structure. But, case of small craft must consider for evaluating local strength through rational method. In this paper, check the bow structure members for satisfying results base on allowable stress criterion of damaged bow structure by dynamic load due to slamming and bottom impact load due to pitching motion through finite element analysis. and investigate engine bed structure considering engine weight load and transverse wave load.

Evaluation of Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) as Replacent for Maize in the Diet of Growing Rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus)

  • Thirty six young New Zealand white rabbits were used in a randomised complete block (RCB) design with a $3{\times}2$ factorial treatment experiment to study the suitability of sorghum as substitute for maize in the diet of growing rabbits in Kenya. Six different diets were formulated to contain 35% of one of the three different types of grain (maize, white sorghum or brown sorghum) and one of the two different levels of crude protein (CP) 16 or 18.5% and fed to growing rabbits for a period of six weeks. The tannin content of the grains was 0.05, 0.52 and 5.6% chatechin equivalents for maize, white and brown sorghum respectively. Weaning weight at 35 days of age was used as the blocking criterion at the beginning of the experiment. Results of feed intake, weight gain, feed conversion efficiency, feed digestibility, as well as the blood parameters, indicated that white sorghum was not significantly different from maize. Animals fed on diets containing brown sorghum had a lower average daily gain (ADG) and a poorer feed conversion efficiency (FCE) (p<0.01) in comparison with those fed on diets containing maize or white sorghum. The 18.5% CP level gave a better FCE (p<0.05) compared with the 16% CP level. However, increasing the level of CP did not improve the utilisation of any of the grains. It was concluded that white sorghum could effectively substitute maize in the diet of growing rabbits. On the other hand, the use of brown sorghum in the diets of growing rabbits may compromise their growth rate. This may be due to the high concentration of tannins in the brown sorghum.

  • In vector quantization (VQ), mean squared error (MSE) is widely used as a distance measure between vectors. But the distance between averages appears as a dominant quantity in MSE. In the case of image vectors, the coincidence of edge pattern is also important considering human visual system (HVS). Therefore, this paper presents a new distance measure using the variance of difference (VD) as a criterion for the coincidence of edge pattern. By using this in the VQ encoding, we can reduce the degradation of edge region in the reconstructed image. And applying this to the codebook design, we can obtain the final codebook that has a lot of various edge codevectors instead of redundant shade ones.

  • Numerical analysis of wind effects on civil engineering structures was performed. Aerodynamic effect often becomes a governing factor and aeroelastic stability boundary becomes a prime criterion which should be confirmed during the structural design stage of bridges because the long-span suspension bridges are prone to the aeroelastic instabilities caused by wind. If the wind velocity exceeds the critical velocity that the bridge can withstand, then the bridge fails due to the phenomenon of flutter. Navier-Stokes equations were used for the aeroelastic analysis of bridge girder section. The aeroelastic simulation is carried out to study the aeroelastic stability of bridges using both Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) and Computational Structural Dynamic (CSD) schemes. Critical flutter velocities were computed for bridges with different stiffness. It was confirmed that the critical flutter velocity of bridge girder section was sensitive to the change of structural stiffness.

A Study on Filter Performance of Materials in Embankment Slope during Heavy Rain (강우시 성토사면 재료의 필터조건검토에 대한 연구)

  • This paper presents the characteristics of internal erosion of embankment slopes due to the localized heavy rain. In this study, the existing analysis methods of filter performance in embankment materials were reviewed. Based on the theoretical concept of filter conditions to prevent particles from being carried in from the adjacent embankment materials, new analysis method was suggested. According to the new analysis method for filter performance, experimental programs were carried out to investigate the filter performance for controlling and sealing any leak which develops through the embankment materials as a result of internal erosion. Three sets of small scale laboratory tests were carried out with changing the main influence factors such as rainfall intensity, gradient of slope, embankment material condition. It was found that the new analysis method for filter performance to prevent particles from being carried in from the adjacent embankment materials was more capable approach to design the filter materials in embankment slopes. The new criterion or method for satisfactory filter performance, therefore, was recommended.

  • Due to the spread of unreliable online information on the social network services, the users are faced with a difficult problem for determining if the information is trustworthy or not. At present, the users should make a decision by themselves throughly for the trustworthiness of the information. Therefore, we need a way to systematically evaluate the trustworthiness of information on the social network services. In this paper, we design a trust index, called KTI (Korean Trust Index for SNS), as a criterion for measuring the trust degree of the information on the social network services. Using KTI, the users are readily able to determine whether the information is trustworthy. Consequently, we can estimate the social trust degree based on the variation of KTI. This paper derives the various factors affecting trust from the properties of the social network services, and proposes a model to evaluate the trustworthiness of information that is directly produced and distributed over the online network. Quantifying the trust degree of the information on the social network services allows the users to make efficient use of the social network.

  • In the design stage of a tunnel, the wall convergence is commonly estimated through an elasto-plastic analysis of the tunnel, which has been a topic drawing many researcher's attention so far. Despite its importance, however, the elasto-plastic behavior of a circular tunnel excavated in a generalized Hoek-Brown rockmass is still poorly understood. In this study, a simple munerical method based on Lee & Pietruszczak (2008) for the elasto-plastic analysis of a circular tunnel surrounded by reinforced annulus is proposed. It is assumed that the tunnel is excavated in a strain-softening rockmass obeying the generalized Hoek-Brown failure condition. The commercial code FLAC is used for the verification of the proposed method. The influence of the Hoek-Brown strength parameter a and the thickness of the reinforcement annulus on the elasto-plastic behavior around the tunnel was discussed by conducting some example analyses. The results show that the influence of these two parameters on the distribution of stresses and displacements is substantial.
