  • Process sequence design in sheet metal forming process by the finite element method is investigated. The forming of sheet metal into a washing machine container is used to demonstrate the design of an improved process sequence which has fewer operations. The design procedure makes extensive use of the finite element method which has simulation capabilities of elastic-plastic modeling. A one-stage process to make an initial blank to the final product is simulated to obtain information on metal flow requirements. Loading simulation for a conventional method is also performed to evaluate the design criteria which are uniform thickness distribution around the finished part and maximum punch load within limit of available press capacity. The newly designed sequence has two forming operations and can achieve net-shape manufacturing, while the conventional process sequence has three forming operations. This specific case conventional process sequence has three forming operations. This specific case can be considered for application of the method and for development of the sequence design methodology in general.

  • Building Information modeling is playing an important role in transforming the construction industry. It helped the industry with better visualization, minimum design errors, and excellent planning of the construction activities. Time and cost saving can be effectively achieved by using BIM for any construction project. It improves information exchange between all the project stakeholders. However, the development of earthwork 3D BIM is still underway and has not been fully implemented yet. This paper presents the study of a complete process for Earthwork BIM design using Autodesk Civil 3D. A real site road construction project is used as a case study to explain the process of earthwork modeling, starting from laser scanning to 3D model. Quantity take off calculation is very important part of any road construction project so during this study earthwork volume from two 3D earthwork model is calculated. The results obtained through this study will be the basis for future work which has been concluded in this paper.

  • Industrial design development methods and processes have changed in accordance with Industrial Information Age. These days, problems are created by existing methods and evaluation of design value , all problems concerned with time and finances sitaution have been made a subject of discussion. Development of design processes have been changed by the development of problem recognition and solving tools, and dpsign tpchnulugy havp hppn replaced by computer technology,Thus. software design processes linking thoughtware to hardware are used in the solution of design problems with many parts. In this study, 3D Modeling samples are presented, 3D Modeling can realise ' Ideas' to '3Dimentional Virtual Ohjects'. These effect and value are anle to decisively influence the process of design problem conference-ebealuation-solution.Proxesses of actual modeling and rendering are made as follows. By compusition of simple 20 drawings and shaping them into 30 objects, 30 solid models can be made. To prssent effectivley, we can make a sample model by varying camera views, light sourses, materials and colours etc. This sample is evaluated by various cumposition, methods and PERT(Program Evaluation and Review Technique). This cuncrete sample (tentative plan)is changed within the CAD SYSTEM by design evaluation, and then converted to flowchart of mass productive conception through refined data. So, that tentative plan can be conformed to design desire actuillly, to the utmost degree. Finally, this design process can be proposed as il new method in cuntrast with current methods. The aim of this study is to suggest effective evaluation methods of design outcome among many evaluating elements.

  • The integrated system for the structural analysis of space frame is made up 4 modules ; pre-process module, structural analysis module, optimum member design module and post-process module. Re-process module of these 4 modules involves data input module and structure modeling module. This study is to develope an efficient modeling program as a basic for development of pre-process module. This modeling program generates geometric information of space frame and performs the input fie form for structure analysis only by input general data. User can mode1 space frame efficiently within shut time by using this program.

  • Compare to conventional Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) film deposition methods, cesium assisted sputtering method has been shown superior electrical, mechanical, and optical film properties. However, it is not easy to use cesium assisted sputtering method since ITO film properties are very sensitive to Cesium assisted equipment condition but their mechanism is not yet clearly defined physically or mathematically. Therefore, to optimize deposited ITO film characteristics, development of accurate and reliable process model is essential. For this, in this work, we developed ITO film deposition process model using neural networks and design of experiment (DOE). Developed model prediction results are compared with conventional statistical regression model and developed neural process model has been shown superior prediction results on modeling of ITO film thickness, sheet resistance, and transmittance characteristics.

  • Business processes are often of long duration, and include internal worker's decision making, which makes business processes to be exposed to many exceptional situations. These properties of business processes makes it difficult to guarantee successful termination of business processes at the design phase. The behavioral properties of business processes mainly depends on the data aspects of business processes. To formalize the data aspect of process modeling, this paper proposes a graph-based model, called Data Dependency Graph (DDG), constructed from dependency relationships specified between business data. The paper also defines a mechanism of describing a set of mapping rules that generates a process model semantically equivalent to a DDG, which is accomplished by allocating data dependencies to component activities.

  • This study describes a dynamic model of the hydroforming process which is used for precision forming of sheet metals. To help the controller design for the control of the forming pressure needed for this process as well as to investigate the effect of system parameters on the dynamic behavior, dynamic modeling is performed with emphasis on hydraulic servo system which actuates the forming machine. Since the model contains several unknown parameters, these were estimated via a least square parameter identification method. Based upon the identified model, a series of simulations were performed for various operating conditions. The results were compared with those of the experiments to verify the validity of the proposed model. The comparison study shows that the proposed dynamic model can describe dynamic behavior of the forming pressure of the hydroforming process to desirable accuracy.

  • The process modeling for the growth rate in pulsed laser deposition(PLD)-grown ZnO thin films is investigated using neural networks(NNets) and the process recipes is optimized via genetic algorithms(GAs). D-optimal design is carried out and the growth rate is characterized by NNets based on the back-propagation(BP) algorithm. GAs is then used to search the desired recipes for the desired growth rate. The statistical analysis is used to verify the fitness of the nonlinear process model. This process modeling and optimization algorithms can explain the characteristics of the desired responses varying with process conditions.

  • To improve the naval ship acquisition process, systems engineering, modeling and simulation, etc. have been introduced, and there has been ongoing research on acquisition systems for effective support of it. However, due to characteristics of the naval ship acquisition process, development process mainly carried out at a shipyard such as basic design, detailed design, construction and test is difficult to integrate with the acquisition systems of IPT(Integrated Project Team). In addition, research aimed to improve this is rather lacking. In this paper, the naval ship product structure concept proposed in previous research was applied to the basic design system at shipyard, and basic research for expanding the coverage of naval ship acquisition systems to the basic design phase is performed. A data structure of modeling system appropriate to the basic design phase was proposed through research findings and the prototype system based on it was implemented.
