The purpose of this study was to suggest the design guidelines for healthcare facilities for the elderly. D healthcare facility for the elderly in Busan was case studied. Subjects were 34 elderly patients, 35 families, and 36 nurses who were in this facility. The elderly Patients and their families were interviewed and the nurses were answered through self-administered questionnaires. Generally, the users of this facility were positively responded to the building and interior design of this facility. Also, the elderly patients and the families were mere satisfied with the design of this healthcare facility than the nurses. All users responded the functional aspects and the whole interior design of this healthcare facility positively and the environmental psychological aspects negatively Also, the nurses responded this facility's ambient environments negatively and the patients and the families positively. The elderly patients and their families wanted to share the inpatient room with 3-6 persons because of their economical conditions and social contacts. Almost half of them preferred to sit down on the floor Also, they tended to prefer to light interior color, wall papers, and the familiar and home-like environments.
For last decades, the interests and efforts to enhance healthcare facility users' experience is focused on improving facility environments for healing (Delvin, 2003) and servicescapes in order to meet the users' needs (Becker, 2008; Seunghee, 2011). In the emerging experience economy, customer want experiences and they're willing to pay for the experiences and memories not goods. (Pine, J. & Gillmore, J., 1999). It is important to identify what supports customer experiences and how they perceive the experiences in healthcare environments and it will provide important information for healthcare planners, managers, architects, and interior designers. This study examines the service user experience design elements from a User Experiences design perspective. It focuses on healthcare facilities as user experience elements and build up a conceptual framework that outlines service user experience design elements in healthcare facilities. Literature review and case studies were conducted to build the service user experience design elements according to affordance theory. Findings from this study shows that service user experience design elements were introduced and newly developed which can be categorized into three factors; 1) Functional experiences in the physical environments (safety, accessibility, self-directiveness), 2) emotional expression and cognitive experiences (identifiability/clarity, natural features/pleasant environment, aesthetic elements/playful space, media richness), 3) social relational experiences(closeness, privacy, communication with staff, integrated system). These service user experience design elements will help healthcare facility designers to understand what customer experiences, how they increase the satisfaction, and how they improve facilities for modeling the industry's best practices.
Background and objective: People-nature experiences, which suggest that humans seek connections between nature and other forms of life, were presented by biologist E. O. Wilson in 1984. Biophilic design attributes support environments that can improve human connections to nature. A significant amount of literature on environmental psychology provides empirical evidence that nature benefits humans, and that practical landscape and built environments can be designed to link humans and nature (e.g., the 14 biophilic design patterns). To date, however, there has been no well-done research on reviewing the health benefits of biophilic design. Methods: The paper provides a narrative review on biophilic design and human health. The scope of this article is limited to biophilic-design books and peer-review articles related to "biophilic design," "evidence-based," "benefits," "health," rather than an attempt to identify universal issues with biophilia hypothesis. Results: A total of 45 papers were included in our review, which was related to the top five biophilic design patterns and design: the presence of natural images, the presence of plants, visual and non-visual connections to nature, and material connection with nature. These studies were related to physiology and psychology through direct or indirect connections with nature and experiences in space and place. Conclusion: This study presents two important comparisons of the empirical research on biophilic design and human health that can explain the relationship of people-nature experiences to biophilic design and human health and provides insights into related researches and recommendations for future application of our findings.
Purpose - This paper's goal is to assess and promote several good teaching product designs and several learning environments. The paper discusses research product design learning and management. The determination of appropriate buffer capacity is an important issue in the design of the advanced manufacturing systems and closely related to the system efficiency and flexibility. Work-in-process is usually not desirable. However, in reality, maintaining some capacity of buffer storage is inevitable in compensation for the machine blocking and break down. The objective of this paper is to present analytical methods and tools for the buffer capacity planning in the Flexible Manufacturing System Environments. The effects when machine blocking is critical factor are also discussed.
As the environmental pollution is intensified, the interest in the conservation and quality of global environment is also increasing. Interior design affects on environmental conservation as well as the quality of outdoor and indoor environment through all phases of interior design. Therefore, interior designers should do environment-friendly design. The purpose of this study was to examine the consciousness and application degree of environment-friendly interior design in actual project by interior designers. The study was conducted by a questionnaire survey. The subjects were 215 interior designers working in Seoul area. The major findings of this study were as follows: 1) The 33 representative elements of environment-friendly interior design were selected and categorized into 5 fields: resources and materials, energy savings, ecological environments, indoor environments, and space effectiveness. These would be useful to carry out environment-friendly interior design projects and related researches. 2) Many interior designers didn't understand what the environment-friendly interior design is correctly, even though they were interested in it. Therefore, the educational program of environment-friendly interior design should be developed. 3) Even though interior designers thought most elements of environment-friendly interior design very important, they didn't apply them well to actual projects. This implies that alternatives for activating them are needed.
The purpose of this study was to identify the universal design characteristics in residential environments. The subjects were 135 physically disabled persons who lived in the rental multi-family housing apartments in Pusan. Interview method was used for this study. They were an average age of 51 years and 63% were male. They were low income families and lived in 12 pyung ($39.75\textrm{m}^2$) apartments. They were asked about what housing characteristics were constraints in their daily living. They pointed out that the constraints in their apartments were as follows: 1) the small amount of space in the bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, and the entrance area of housing unit, 2) the unflat floor level between the bathroom and the hallway, or the balcony and the bedroom, 3) the slippery floor finish in the bathroom, 4) lack of grab bars or handrails in the bathroom and the ramp, 5) the kitchen work centers and the electric switches at improper height, and 6) the steep ramp. Therefore, the universal design characteristics in residential environments were the adequate amount of space, flat floor level, non-slippery floor finish, grab bars or handrails, accessible height, and ramp.

In recent days, there are many researches of wireless LAN services as the communication environment of wireless LAN are so improved that a lot of services are available in wireless environments. The frequency of the wireless LAN is a general resource that can be used to everyone without any permission. Many technologies using this ISM (Industry Science Medical) frequency band are developed fast and widely. But, as many devices use the same frequency band at th same time, the service quality is degraded and the speed of the service rate id degraded by the result of the interference. For overcome this problem, we must provide the new technology of the mobile devices and a new cell design scheme for obtaining maximum throughput that considering the wireless environments effectively. In this paper, we explain the main technology at the IEEE 802.11n environments and proposes the optimal cell design and reference model for gaining maximum performance to many mobile devices at the same time by investigating real environment testing results.
