Study on the Design Automation of Steel House Shop drawing (스틸하우스 설계 자동화의 필요성과 적용방법에 관한 연구)

  • This study proposes a method of generating steel house shop drawing in an automated design method, reducing construction manpower and period. With one hour fire-resistant approval code, reflecting work ability and efficiency, steel-framed house market is expected to extend from one or two story house to multi-purpose facilities up to four story height. More models have been constructed in this system than the first appearance of fire-resistant approval in Korea in 1997. Also, cost estimation of components such as frame walls, roof trusses and floors is obtained with shop drawings. Also, the lack of suppliers of steel framed house shop drawing and unstandardized drawing method get constructors have difficulty in understanding its design. In steel framed house industry, shop drawings are essential part in building and constructing framework and they have major effects on construction deadlines and expenses. By exploring method of shop drawing automation, this study aims to optimize work flow with a standardized drawing method. The proposed system can be applied to manufacturing automation in domestic industry of factory-built panelizing method in the near future.

Methodology for Generating Information Requirements for BIM-based Building Permit Process (BIM 기반 인허가 요구정보 생성 방안)

  • Using BIM (Building Information Modeling)-based design information to analyze various engineering processes has been widely adopted in construction projects. However, since typical building permit processes often require traditional 2D-based design information for submission and to obtain building approval, there are some challenges in delivering such data thru BIM-based design information. This paper proposed a methodology to generate and meet information requirements for permit applications and approvals based on BIM-based design information. To that end, we analyzed the required information necessary to make submissions for building approvals using the Seumter system. We then suggested a process to collect the required information from BIM-based data, and classified this into two types: BIM-internal and BIM-external information requirements. In addition, we proposed three algorithms to extract and to match between extracted BIM data and BIM-internal information requirements using IFC(Industry Foundation Classes). The proposed methodology enables to ensure the efficiency and the accuracy when providing data for building permit review and approval.

  • Nuclear energy in Korea began in 1958, when the Korea's atomic energy act was formulated and the relevant organizations were founded. Since then, notwithstanding the two catastrophe like TMI and Chernobyl accident, Korea made a wise decision to expand the peaceful uses of the nuclear energy as well as to localize the essential nuclear design technology of fuel and nuclear steam supply system. This decision resulted in the success of export of nuclear power plants as well as research reactor in 2010s. The Korea's nuclear policy, which well utilized 'international crisis in nuclear business' as 'opportunity of Korea to get. nuclear technology', is believed nice policy as a role model of nuclear new-comer countries. Based upon the success story of localization of nuclear technology, Korea had an eye for a niche market, which was a basis of development of SMART, Korea-made integral PWR. The operation of a SMART plant can sufficiently provide not only electricity but also fresh water for 100,000 residents. Last two years, Korea's nuclear industry team led by the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute completed the standard design of SMART and applied to the Korea's regulatory body for standard design approval. Now the Korea's licensing authority is reviewing the design with the relevant documents, and the design team is doing its best to realize its hope to get the approval by the end of this year. From next year, the SMART business including construction and export will be explored by the KEPCO consortium.

  • The Special safety systems are incorporated into the plant design to limit radioactive releases to the public in the event of accident. Wolsung 2 is better builted than Wolsung 1 by 84 design changes for new approval requirements, codes & standards changes and manufacturing changes etc. This paper analysed and discussed the design change items for nuclear reactor safety system and needs development of design engineering for digital protection system.

  • From design to serial production, aircraft should go thorough complicated certification procedure from airworthiness authority such as Type Certificate, Production Certificate and Certificate of Airworthiness. On the other hand, aircraft components are mandated to receive Technical Standard Order Approval and Production Manufacture Approval before commercial use. As domestic aircraft and LRUs are currently under development, Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement is promoted for the purpose of increasing aviation safety as well as foreign export. This paper describes the basic aircraft certification procedure and compares the difference in the certification system of US and Korea. Thorough this, it is attempted to suggest a requirements for establishing international certification system.

  • The study aims to design and suggest criteria of the academic credit approval for those who obtain diverse qualifications. In order to achieve the objectives of this research, a Delphi survey was conducted. Consequently this study suggests the following, based on the argument that existing credit approval system covering all qualifications requires improvement especially due to limited function and efficiency. First, most respondents who took part in the management of academic credit bank system in the Korea Educational Development Institute stated that the current system is of limitation. Out of the all items, one was indicated as one not directly related the majoring area for the degree, three items were indicated as approved in the bachelor degree and two items were as approved in the associate degree. Second, occupational area for approving qualification items should be classified according to the KRIVET classification structure for national qualification.

  • Civilian aircraft industry, even if the superior performance of the product in order to ensure the safety of aircraft navigation safety requirements necessary for compliance does not receive a legally recognized can not be used in aircraft characteristics. These are applied in a variety of safety in avionics for navigation of civil aircraft certification standards for the technology is implemented. KTSO-C113 aircraft for the purpose of electronic display technology to authenticate standard contains minimum performance standards. Standard design and manufacturing technology for type approval means approval by mounting the aircraft in order to use a separate approval is required. Through this paper, multi-display technology standards for aircraft type certification approval system and demonstrate compliance with the requirements for the certification practices introduced are presented.

  • The Technical Standard Order articles are the parts and appliances for which the civil aviation authority designates as it is necessary to standardize for the expedited certification process and aviation safety. TSO articles were used on the type certified aircraft as replacement parts in the early days of TSO authorization system, but those articles are widely used on the newly developed aircraft as well in these days. In this paper, we compared the differences of the TSO authorization systems between FAA and EASA, and proposed the rulemaking items to improve Korean TSO authorization system and to contribute to growth of aviation industry.

A Study on the Verification of Design Compatibility for a Europe Type Automatic Coupler Head according to TSI Certification Standards (TSI 인증기준에 따른 유럽 표준형 자동복합연결기 헤드의 설계적합성 검증 연구)

  • The type approval system of the railway safety law, which was enforced in 2014, has been preferentially applied to the field of railway vehicles. The type approval system addresses railway vehicles and railway constituents. Unlike the previous system, it requires serial verification stages divided, in consecutive order, into verification of design compatibility and conformity and type test. These stages are in accord with international certification systems including TSI certification of the European commission. This study has been carried out to find and meet the design requirements for a coupler head, which is a part of the automatic coupler system; requirements were drawn from TSI and technical specifications that are subordinate to the domestic railway approval system. Through this study, it has been found that there exist 34 design requirements to acquire a complete coupler head. Among those requirements, 32 were verified by document inspection and two were able to be verified by performing FEA and gathering range analysis data.

Determination of burnup limit for CANDU 6 fuel using Monte-Carlo method

  • KHNP recently has obtained the approval for the commercialization of the modified 37-element (or 37 M) fuel bundle and now is loading the 37 M fuel bundles in CANDU-6 reactors in KOREA. One of the main issues for approval was the burnup limit. Due to CANDU design and neutronic characteristics, there was no specific burnup restriction of a fuel bundle. The absence of a burnup limit does not mean that a fuel bundle can stay in the CANDU reactor without a time limit. However, the regulator requested traditional design values as well as the burnup limit reflecting the computer code uncertainty. The method for the PWR burnup limit was not applied to the CANDU fuel bundle. Since there was no approved methodology to build the burnup limit with uncertainties, KHNP introduced a Monte-Carlo method coupled with a 95/95 approach to determine the conservative burnup limit from the viewpoint of the centerline temperature, internal pressure, strain measurement deviation. Moreover, to consider the uncertainties of various computing models, a converted power uncertainty was introduced. This paper presents the methodology and puts forward the limits on burnup, evaluated for each of the existing and modified fuel bundles, in consideration of the pressure tube aging condition.
