The hyperspectral images can be analyzed in more detail compared to the conventional multispectral images so they can be used for analyzing surface properties which are difficult to detect. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to obtain information on river environment by using actual depth data and drone-based images. For this purpose, this study acquired the image values for 100 points of 1 survey line using drone-based hyperspectral sensors and analyzed the correlation in comparison with the actual depth information obtained through ADCP. The ADCP measurements showed that the depth tended to get deeper toward the center and that the average water depth was 0.81 m. As a result of analyzing the hyperspectral images, the value of maximum intensity was 645 and the value of minimum intensity was 278, and the correlation between the actual depth and the results of analyzing the hyperspectral images showed that the depth increased as the value of maximum intensity decreased.

Via the Internet, the information infrastructure of modern health care has already established medical information systems to share electronic health records among patients and health care providers. Data hiding plays an important role to protect medical images. Because modern medical devices have improved, high resolutions of medical images are provided to detect early diseases. The high quality medical images are used to recognize complicated anatomical structures such as soft tissues, muscles, and internal organs to support diagnosis of diseases. For instance, 16-bit depth medical images will provide 65,536 discrete levels to show more details of anatomical structures. In general, the feature of low utilization rate of intensity in 16-bit depth will be utilized to handle overflow/underflow problem. Nowadays, most of data hiding algorithms are still experimenting on 8-bit depth medical images. We proposed a novel reversible data hiding scheme testing on 16-bit depth CT and MRI medical image. And the peak point and zero point of a histogram are applied to embed secret message k bits without salt-and-pepper.

Underwater images are very much different from images taken on land, due to the presence of a higher disturbance ratio caused by the presence of water medium between the camera and the target object. These distortions and noises result in unclear details and reduced quality of the output image. An underwater image restoration method is proposed in this paper, which uses blurriness information, background light neutralization information, and red-light intensity to estimate depth. The transmission map is then estimated using the derived depth map, by considering separate attenuation coefficients for direct and backscattered signals. The estimated transmission map and estimated background light are then used to recover the scene radiance. Qualitative and quantitative analysis have been used to compare the performance of the proposed method against other state-of-the-art restoration methods. It has been shown that the proposed method can yield good quality restored underwater images. The proposed method has also been evaluated using different qualitative metrics, and results have shown that method is highly capable of restoring underwater images with different conditions. The results are significant and show the applicability of the proposed method for underwater image restoration work.

In this paper, we propose a synthesis method of elemental images from Kinect images for 3D integral imaging display. Since RGB images and depth image obtained from Kinect are not able to display 3D images in integral imaging system, we need transform the elemental images in integral imaging display. To do so, we synthesize the elemental images based on the geometric optics mapping from the depth plane images obtained from RGB image and depth image. To show the usefulness of the proposed system, we carry out the preliminary experiments using the two person object and present the experimental results.

In this paper, we propose a new scheme to generate multi-view images utilizing depth map decomposition and adaptive edge smoothing. After carrying out smooth filtering based on an adaptive window size to regions of edges in the depth map, we decompose the smoothed depth map into four types of images: regular mesh, object boundary, feature point, and number-of-layer images. Then, we generate 3-D scenes from the decomposed images using a 3-D mesh triangulation technique. Finally, we extract multi-view images from the reconstructed 3-D scenes by changing the position of a virtual camera in the 3-D space. Experimental results show that our scheme generates multi-view images successfully by minimizing a rubber-sheet problem using edge smoothing, and renders consecutive 3-D scenes in real time through information decomposition of depth maps. In addition, the proposed scheme can be used for 3-D applications that need the depth information, such as depth keying, since we can preserve the depth data unlike the previous unsymmetric filtering method.
This paper presents a multi-depth map fusion method for the 3D scene reconstruction. It fuses depth maps obtained from the stereo matching technique and the depth camera. Traditional stereo matching techniques that estimate disparities between two images often produce inaccurate depth map because of occlusion and homogeneous area. Depth map obtained from the depth camera is globally accurate but noisy and provide a limited depth range. In order to get better depth estimates than these two conventional techniques, we propose a depth map fusion method that fuses the multi-depth maps from stereo matching and the depth camera. We first obtain two depth maps generated from the stereo matching of 3-view images. Moreover, a depth map is obtained from the depth camera for the center-view image. After preprocessing each depth map, we select a depth value for each pixel among them. Simulation results showed a few improvements in some background legions by proposed fusion technique.
In this paper, we propose the method of stereo images composition using adaptive dense disparity estimation. For the correct composition of stereo image and 3D virtual object, we need correct marker position and depth information. The existing algorithms use position information of markers in stereo images for calculating depth of calibration object. But this depth information may be wrong in case of inaccurate marker tracking. Moreover in occlusion region, we can't know depth of 3D object, so we can't composite stereo images and 3D virtual object. In these reasons, the proposed algorithm uses adaptive dense disparity estimation for calculation of depth. The adaptive dense disparity estimation is the algorithm that use pixel-based disparity estimation and the search range is limited around calibration object.
We have studied depth conversion of a reconstructed image by means of recombination of the elemental images in the integral imaging system for 3D display. With the recombination, depth conversion to the pseudoscopic, the orthoscopic, the real or the virtual as well as to arbitrary depth without any distortion is possible under proper conditions. The conditions on the recombinations for the depth conversion are theoretically derived. The reconstructed images using the converted elemental images are presented.
In this paper, we propose a character floating hologram system using the user's gender and age. The proposed system recognizes the gender and age of the user through depth images and color images. The depth images are used to find and normalize facial position. Next, by using facial color images, the age and gender are estimated through an verified database-based model of CNN. Finally, the estimated age and gender are expressed to a character for the floating hologram. The proposed system can be used in a variety of areas, including marketing, advertising, and exhibition events using gender or age.

Depth calculation of objects in a scene from images is one of the most studied processes in the fields of image processing, computer vision, and photogrammetry. Conventionally, depth is calculated using a pair of overlapped images captured at different view points. However, there have been studies to calculate depths from a single image. Theoretically, it is known to be possible to calculate depth using the diameter of CoC (Circle of Confusion) caused by defocus under the assumption of a thin lens model. Thus, this study aims to verify the validity of the thin lens model to calculate depth from edge blur amount which corresponds to the radius of CoC. For this study, a commercially available DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) camera was used to capture a set of target sheets which had different edge contrasts. In order to find out the pattern of the variations of edge blur against varying combination of FD (Focusing Distance) and OD (Object Distance), the camera was set to varying FD and target sheet images were captured at varying OD under each FD. Then, the edge blur and edge displacement were estimated from edge slope profiles using a brute-force method. The experimental results show that the pattern of the variations of edge blur observed in the target images was apart from their corresponding theoretical amounts derived under the thin lens assumption but can still be utilized to calculate depth from a single image for the cases similar to the limited conditions experimented under which the tendency between FD and OD is manifest.
