  • This paper proposed the method to improve performance of a pixel, which has low accuracy, by applying image segmentation methods based on color and multi-threshold of brightness. Stereo matching is the process to find the corresponding point on the right image with the point on the left image. For this process, distance(depth) information in stereo images is calculated. However, in the case of a region which has textureless, stereo matching has low accuracy and bad pixels occur on the disparity map. In the proposed method, the relationship between adjacent pixels is considered for compensating bad pixels. Generally, the object has similar color and brightness. Therefore, by considering the relationship between regions based on segmented regions by means of color and multi-threshold of brightness respectively, the region which is considered as parts of same object is re-segmented. According to relationship information of segmented sets of pixels, bad pixels in the disparity map are compensated efficiently. By applying the proposed method, the results show a decrease of nearly 28% in the number of bad pixels of the image applied the method which is established.

  • This paper presents an area-based stereo algorithm suitable to real time applications. The core of the algorithm depends on the uniqueness constraint and on a matching process that allows for rejecting previous matches. The proposed approach is compared with the left right consistency constraint, being the latter the basic method for detecting unreliable matches in many area-based stereo algorithms. We used the watermelon and tomatoes for experiments.

  • This paper presents the method for detection and tracking of multiple humans robustly in mobile platform. The perception of human is performed in real time through the processing of images acquired from a moving stereo vision system. We performed multi-cue integration such as human shape, skin color and depth information to detect and track each human in moving background scene. Human shape is measured by edge-based template matching on distance transformed image. Improving robustness for human detection, we apply the human face skin color in HSV color space. And we could increase the accuracy and the robustness in both detection and tracking by applying random sampling stochastic estimati...

  • This paper presents a new algorithm that includes a mechanism to avoid local solutions in a motion vector detection method that uses the steepest descent method. Two different implementations of the algorithm are demonstrated using two major search methods for tree structures, depth first search and breadth first search. Furthermore, it is shown that by avoiding local solutions, both of these implementations are able to obtain smaller prediction errors compared to conventional motion vector detection methods using the steepest descent method, and are able to perform motion vector detection within an arbitrary upper limit on the number of computations. The effects that differences in the search order have on the effectiveness of avoiding local solutions are also presented.

  • Almost every year, Korea has been suffered from serious damages of lives and properties, due to landslides that are triggered by heavy rains in monsoon season. In this paper, we systematized the physically based landslide prediction model which consisted of 3 parts, infinite slope stability analysis model, groundwater flow model and soil depth model. To evaluate its applicability to the prediction of landslides, the data of actual landslides were plotted on the predicted areas on the GIS map. The matching rate of this model to the actual data was $84.8\%$. And the relation between hydrological and land form factors and potential landslide were analyzed.

  • The laser transport system of the high power laser facility is mainly composed of large-aperture laser transport mirrors (TMs). Obtaining the high-resolution online damage images during the operation, which is of great significance for operating safely of the mirrors and the facility. Based on wavefront coding, pan-tilt scanning and image stitching technologies, an online laser-damage images detection system is designed, and it can achieve high-precision detection of surface characteristics of large-aperture laser transport mirrors. The preliminary simulation proves that the system can solve the depth of field matching problem caused by pan-tilt tilt imaging and achieve higher resolution.

  • Mobility prediction is one of hot topics using location history information. It is useful for not only user-level applications such as people finder and recommendation sharing service but also for system-level applications such as hand-off management, resource allocation, and quality of service of wireless services. Most of current prediction techniques often use a set of significant locations without taking into account possible location information changes for prediction. Markov-based, LZ-based and Prediction by Pattern Matching techniques consider interesting locations to enhance the prediction accuracy, but they do not consider interesting location changes. In our paper, we propose an algorithm which integrates the changing or emerging new location information. This approach is based on Active LeZi algorithm, but both of new location and all possible location contexts will be updated in the tree with the fixed depth. Furthermore, the tree will also be updated even when there is no new location detected but the expected route is changed. We find that our algorithm is adaptive to predict next location. We evaluate our proposed system on a part of Dartmouth dataset consisting of 1026 users. An accuracy rate of more than 84% is achieved.

  • Stereo vision has become an important technical issue in the field of 3D imaging, machine vision, robotics, image analysis, and so on. The depth map extraction from stereo video is a key technology of stereoscopic 3D video requiring stereo correspondence algorithms. This is the matching process of the similarity measure for each disparity value, followed by an aggregation and optimization step. Since it requires a lot of computational power, there are significant speed-performance advantages when exploiting parallel processing available on processors. In this situation, multi-core CPU may allow many parallel programming technologies to be realized in users computing devices. This paper proposes parallel implementations for calculating disparity map using a shared memory programming and exploiting the streaming SIMD extension technology. By doing so, we can take advantage both of the hardware and software features of multi-core processor. For the performance evaluation, we implemented a parallel SAD algorithm with OpenMP and SSE2. Their processing speeds are compared with non parallel version on stereoscopic streaming video. The experimental results show that both technologies have a significant effect on the performance and achieve great improvements on processing speed.

  • In this paper, we propose a new approach for efficient multiview stereo matching and virtual view generation, which are key technologies for 3DTV. We propose semi N-view & N-depth framework to estimate disparity maps efficiently and correctly. This framework reduces the redundancy on disparity estimation by using the information of neighboring views. The proposed method provides a user 2D/3D freeview video, and the user can select 2D/3D modes of freeview video. Experimental results show that the proposed method yields the accurate disparity maps and the synthesized novel view is satisfactory enough to provide user seamless freeview videos.
