Aerosol Density Determined Using Micro-orifice Uniform Deposit Impactor and Aerosol Dust Monitors Data at Seoul (다단입자채집기와 입자계수기 자료를 이용한 서울 에어러솔 밀도 계산)

  • In order to calculate the aerosol bulk densities of $PM_{1.0}$ and $PM_{10}$, aerosol mass and number concentrations were measured for the period of December 2008~April 2009. $PM_{1.0}$ and $PM_{10}$ mass concentrations were measured using a cascade impactor (Micro-Orifice Uniform Deposit Impactor, MOUDI) while their volume concentrations were calculated based on number concentrations from an environmental dust monitor (EDM). Normal aerosol size distribution fitting functions were retrieved for number size distribution since aerosols < $2.5{\mu}m$ were measured from the EDM. Strong correlation was found between $PM_{1.0}$ mass and volume concentrations obtained with a $R^2$ of 0.95. The calculated average bulk densities of $PM_{1.0}$ and $PM_{10}$ were $1.97{\pm}0.33g/cm^3$ and $2.15{\pm}0.18g/cm^3$, respectively.

The Usage of Copper Slag as The Drainage Materials (동 수매 슬래그의 배수용 재료로써의 이용)

  • Copper slag is produced about 700,000 tons annually though copper refining process in Korea. In the paper, a laboratory investigation was carried out to estimate the geotechnical properties of copper slag and examine the feasibility of using the copper slag as a substitute for conventional construction materials and the improvement of the soft clay deposit. The specific gravity of copper slag is 3.45, and pH is 7.83. And the size distribution of the copper slag is well graded, so usage of copper slag will be extended in Geotechnical engineering fields. Copper slag has the permeability of 3.502${\times}$10 ̄$^2$cm/sec, which is satisfied with the criterion of sand drainage materials.. At the same time, it is thought to be suitable material for sand mat since it meets JIS of grain size distribution. The content of CaO from steel slag is about 40 percent while that of CaO from copper slag is about 5 percent. Based on this fact, copper slag has less hardening property compared to steel slag. Therefore, copper slag can be used as vertical drains, filters, and sand mats for improving the soft deposit.

  • The purpose of the present study was to examine some basic aspects of laser chemical vapor deposition that will be ultimately utilized for solid freeform fabrication of three dimensional objects. Specifically, deposition of silicon carbide (SiC) using tetramethylsilane (TMS) as precursor was studied for a rod grown by $CO_2$laser-assisted chemical vapor deposition. First, temperature distribution for substrate was analyzed to select proper substrate where temperature was high enough for SiC to be deposited. Then, calculations of chemical equilibrium and heat and mass flow with chemical reactions were performed to predict deposition rates, deposit profiles, and deposit components. Finally, several rods were experimentally grown with varying chamber pressure and compared with the theoretical results.

Macroeconomic and Bank-Specific Variables and the Liquidity of Jordanian Commercial Banks

  • This study aimed to explore the impact of macroeconomic (Real GDP growth (GDPG), Inflation rate (INF)) and bank -specific variables (profitability (ROA), capital adequacy (CADEQ), non-performing loans (NPL), deposit growth (DEPG)) on the liquidity (lIQ) of 13 listed Jordanian commercial banks for the period 2011-2018. Panel data analysis, Pooled least square, fixed effects model and random effects model, Lagrange multiplier test, and Hausman test were used. The random effects model output shows that, macroeconomic variables have a significant impact on Jordanian commercial banks liquidity since inflation has a positive impact while GDPG has a negative impact on banks (LIQ). On the other hand among the bank-specific variables capital adequacy and deposit growth have a positive significant impact on banks (LIQ), while (NPL) and (SIZE) have a negative significant impact on Jordanian commercial banks liquidity. But ROA has a negative insignificant impact on (LIQ). The findings of the study suggest that commercial banks departments need to pay attention to the economic and internal variables of banks in order to maintain acceptable levels of liquidity.

  • This study aims to suggest a strategic alliance between libraries and publishers in Korea. When it considers the linear distribution channel of current publications and the entity and a butterfly effect of knowledge communication crisis, the publishers as production agency and the library as consuming subject must search a strategic cooperative plans. In order to achieve this goal, the study analysed the four issues(fixed book prices, library infrastructure, book and library supply policy of government, legal deposit system) which is important.

Characteristics of Coal Water Fuel by Various Drying Coals, Surfactants and Particle Size Distribution Using Low Rank Coal (건조된 저등급석탄과 첨가제 및 입자크기에 대한 석탄-물 혼합연료(CWF)의 특성)

  • In this study, in order to increase solid content of coal water fuel (CWF), various experimental parameters (i.e., coal type, additive, particle size distribution, drying method) were evaluated. To investigate the drying method, specimen is compared to using flash dry, fluidized bed dry and oil deposit stabilized coal. Difference of the solid content between low rank coal and high rank coal in this case indicate that high rank coal exhibits more higher than 20% of the solid cotent. And specimen for dispersibility was prepared by using dispersing agent of 4 types. As a result, using the dispersing agent was shown 5% higher in sold content than the case of not using the dispersing agent. Efficiency of CWF was improved by using fine coal of 80% in the particle size distribution of coal. Result of CWF using drying methods of 3 types, oil deposit stabilized (ODS) coal dried and stabilized was effective 12% higher in sold content than raw coal.

  • The catalytic cracking of n-octane over FER, MFI, MOR and BEA zeolites was studied by the protolytic cracking mechanism in order to understand the effect of pore structure of zeolites on their product composition and deactivation. The selectivities for $C_3$ and $C_3{^=}$ were high over the zeolites with medium pores due to additional cracking, while those for $C_4$ and $C_4{^=}$, the initial products, were high over the zeolites with large pores. MFI zeolite showed slow deactivation due to small carbon deposit, while FER zeolite with small pores deactivated rapidly with severe carbon deposit. The deactivation of BEA zeolite was slow even with a large amount of carbon deposit, but MOR zeolite showed a rapid deactivation even with a small amount of carbon deposit. The conversion measured along with the time on stream on these zeolite catalysts was simulated by a mechanism based on the simplified reaction path of n-octane cracking and the deactivation related to the pore blockage by carbon deposit.

  • This paper presents the result of a study on the distribution characteristics of salt contaminants in the west coast region, from Inchon to Yearsoo, of South Korea. To evaluate the distribution characteristics of salt contaminants, we had measured the equivalent salt deposit density(ESDD) with brush wiping method for thirteen month(from May 1999 to June 2000). Under the consideration on the measuring interval and method, normalization method was applied for the ESDD data. Besides the measurement, the chemical analysis (chromatography) was carried to investigate the relationship, between the electrical property and the amount of specific ingredient, such as sodium, magnesium and chloride. From the result, we could get the representative value of contamination for each site and distribution characteristics of salt contaminants with the distance from sea in the west coast.

  • Distribution of pesticide deposit on the upper and lower halves of rice plants sprayed with various dilution and dosage of fenitrothion EC, Imidan WP, diazinon EC and phenthoate EC was studied under paddy field. Increasing dilution or dosage of the pesticides resulted in high level of deposits on the lower half of rice plants. The distribution of pesticide deposits on the upper half of Milyang 23 was higher than that of Akibare irrespective of pesticides, dilution and dosage.

Establishing a pre-mining baseline of natural radionuclides distribution and radiation hazard for the Bled El-Hadba sedimentary phosphate deposits (North-Eastern Algeria)

  • Since the implementation of the phosphate project in Bled El-Hadba (BEH) deposit, western region of Tébessa, no detailed study has been conducted to assess the natural radioactivity distribution and the associated radiological risk parameter for this open-pit mine. For the sake of determining a credible premining reference database for the region of interest, 21 samples were collected from different geological layers of the above-mentioned deposit. Gamma Spectrometry was applied for measuring radioactivity using a high resolution HPGe semiconductor detector. The obtained activity results have shown a significant broad variation in the radioactive contents for the different phosphate samples. The total average concentrations (in Bq·kg-1) for 226Ra, 238U, 235U, 232Th and 40K computed for the different type of phosphate layers were found to be 570 ± 169, 788 ± 280, 52 ± 18, 66 ± 6 and 81 ± 18 respectively. The mean activity concentrations of the measured radionuclides were compared to other regional and worldwide deposits. The ratios between the detected radioisotopes have been calculated for spatial distribution of natural radionuclides in the study area. Based on the aforementioned activity concentrations, the corresponding radiation hazard parameters were assessed. Correlations between the obtained parameters were drawn and a multivariate statistical analysis (Pearson Correlation, Cluster and Factor analysis) was carried out in order to identify the existing relationships.
