A Case Study of a Customer-Oriented Beeper Design using Fuzzy Linguistic Rating and Quality Function Deployment Concepts (퍼지 언어적 평가법과 품질기능전개개념을 이용한 무선호출기의 감성공학적 제품설계 응용사례)

  • This study proposed a method to apply certain fuzzy-related Quality control concepts to design customer-oriented products considering user requirements and information starting with the product development stage. This approach showed how to define the importance level of design elements and how to Quantify complex subjective perception of products using the fuzzy linguistic rating method and quality function deployment concepts. Using this approach, various customer requirements could be interpreted and reflected on the early design phase of a new product. To validate the proposed method, an experiment was conducted for designing the shape of the beeper using 14 subjects and 10 commercial beeper products. Front area, width/length ratio, thickness, curve variance, weight, and display area were selected as design elements of the beeper. The results showed that among design elements, front area and weight are significantly related with the subjective perception of the products. Consequently, this study indicates that customer decision on product selection could be made by quantification of user perception for beeper products.

  • It is the greatest task to prescribe accurately and concretely consumer's needs of qualities into the product standards in an enterprise manufacturing and sailing products, From this point of view, Quality Function Deployment system is introduced to inguire into the establishing method of product standards closely Above all, the decision of quality characteristic in the product standards and the estblishing method of product standard are introduced to satisty in this repord. Applying to the product standards in Qulity Function Deployment system, frst it is systematically brought quality function to consumer's needs of qualities into the products. Second the method is concerned with quality function assurance applied in induction of product quality. Also it is available to establish method of product quality level in almost every company.

Service Deployment and Priority Optimization for Multiple Service-Oriented Applications in the Cloud (클라우드에서 서비스 지향 응용을 위한 최적 서비스 배치와 우선순위 결정 기법)

  • This paper considers service deployment and priority optimization for multiple service-oriented applications sharing reusable services, which are deployed as multiple instances in the cloud. In order to handle variations in the workloads of the multiple applications, service instances of the individual reusable services are dynamically provisioned in the cloud. Also service priorities for each application in a particular reusable service are dynamically adjusted. In this paper, we propose an analytic performance model, based on a queueing network model, to predict the expected sojourn times of multiple service-oriented applications, given the number of service instances and priority disciplines in individual reusable services. We also propose a simple heuristic algorithm to search an optimal number of service instances in the cloud and service priority disciplines for each application in individual reusable services. A numerical example is also presented to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed performance model and algorithm to the proposed optimal decision problem.

  • The purpose of this paper is to describe a new analytic method of capital budgeting projects that takes into account both customer wants and competitor's status and to give decision makers a tool for goal setting and planning for technology. This model, which is based on quality function deployment(QFD), has used the analytic hierarchy process(AHP) to determine the intensity of the relationship between the variables involved in each matrix of the model and the 0-1 integer programming to determine the allocation of funds to various technological projects. This paper also proposes how to calculate the new weight of columns to consider various strength levels of roof matrix, representing the correlation among the quality characteristics, using Lymsn's normalization procedure. To compare this model with Partovi's model, 1 adapt the same example which is suggested by Partovi and I show that the value of object function, has maximization problem, in this model is larger than that in Partovi's model.

  • Quality function deployment(QFD) is becoming a widely used customer oriented approach. The aim of this paper is to present an analytic method of quality function deployment that is to maximize customer satisfaction, using a customer satisfaction survey conducted in the college in Korea. Combining weights and satisfaction indices, "performance/important" diagrams are to develop and this grid can be used in order to identify priorities for decision making. Also, this paper shows a 0-1 integer programming model for maximizing customer satisfaction subject to a budget constraint in QFD planning process with case study.

  • For the very light jet aircraft design, the design baseline configuration has been selected using the logical decision making process, and the design optimization problem is formulated by considering the airworthiness regulations as design constraints. Airworthiness regulations are the minimum requirements for the safe aircraft flight and must be considered from the conceptual design stage. After carefully selecting the airworthiness constraints and the user specified requirements, a series of design making models including the affinity diagram, nested column diagram, quality function deployment (QFD), Pugh concept selection matrix, are used to find and evaluate alternative configuration baselines. From the feasible design space searching process, the best altenative design, which satisfies the airworthiness constraints while excluding the user subjective decisions as much as possible, has been successfully derived.

  • It has been more recent trends in container trade to make bogger ship from shipowners that many more parties concerned are getting involved. Well, it is natural to swift these situations if we have looked into container trade market in present time, which a lot of trade volumes has increased in world economy. Thus, supply side of shipping service needs to employ more capacity in the shipping market, then newbuilding may be compulsory options, that is deployment of larger ships. To cope with market situations as able shipowner, some alternatives can be also adopted, such as newbuilding, chartering and securing the space by strategic alliance. But whatever he does, shipowner has to keep in mind to prepare for the future. This is much more important factor considered to make investment decision in case of newbuilding and then he can make more efficient decision as well. However, there has been a little problems arisen due to larger ship employed on the trade route, which is linked with seaport, shipping companies and freight rates as well. Although shipowner decides to build new larger vessel as one of corporate strategic decision, there are many questions to be considered in advance. Therefore, in order to take more efficient decision, shipowner has to take into an account various situations surrounded, and then it can lead truly thoughtful decision making process.

An Analysis of Service Robot Quality Attributes through the Kano Model and Decision Tree : Financial Service Robot for Introduction to Bank Branches (카노와 의사결정나무를 활용한 금융서비스 로봇의 품질속성 분석 : 은행지점 도입용 금융서비스 로봇 사례)

  • A Kano model was used to classify the quality attributes of the service robot function for actual deployment that can support and replace bank employees. Quality attributes for a total of 6 dimensions and 23 service elements were divided into bank employees and customer groups, and service priorities were derived after comparative analysis. The Decision tree model was used to supplement the excessive simplification of quality attributes by the modest number of Kano models and to classify and predict by segment market. Of the 23 services, 16 were classified into the same attributes in both groups. 6 services classified as combination attributes used a Decision tree to identify differences in perception of quality attributes among groups. In terms of basic financial services and professional financial services, it was confirmed that bank employees feel financial service robots more attractive than ordinary customers. In the design of IT convergence service, we propose a methodology for deriving quality attributes by combining a Kano model for classifying quality attributes of two groups and a Decision tree for forecasting subdivision markets.

  • These days GIS have rapidly deployed as input and solutions to marketing decision making problems and corresponding decision support systems in many countries including Korea. Its powerful spatial analysis tools along with data integration and graphic display capabilities let many retailers and manufacturers in fashion industry to accept GIS as a useful mean for their decision making systems. At this moment, this paper presents many facets of discussions on how GIS be applied to fashion marketing decision making problems. From provoking several questions on current fashion marketing decision making system to explaining multiattribute decision making and multiobjective decision making as tools for decision making analysis and discussing some implementation issues, this paper revealed many aspects of GIS and fashion marketing decision support system from integration point of view.

A Methodology for Determining Cloud Deployment Model in Financial Companies (금융회사 클라우드 운영 모델 결정 방법론)

  • As cloud services and deployment models become diverse, there are a growing number of cloud computing selection options. Therefore, financial companies need a methodology to select the appropriated cloud for each financial computing system. This study adopted the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) framework to classify factors for the introduction of cloud computing in financial companies. Using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), the evaluation items are layered into the performance perspective and the cloud consideration factor and a comprehensive decision model is proposed. To verify the proposed research model, a system of financial company is divided into three: account, information, and channel system, and the result of decision making by both financial business experts and technology experts from two financial companies were collected. The result shows that some common factors are important in all systems, but most of the factors considered are very different from system to system. We expect that our methodology contributes to the spread of cloud computing adoption.
