Mobile multi-robot teams are useful in many critical applications such as search and rescue. Explicit communication among robots in such mobile multi-robot teams is useful for the coordination of such teams as well as exchanging data. Since many applications for mobile robots involve scenarios in which communication infrastructure may be damaged or unavailable, mobile robot teams frequently need to communicate with each other via ad hoc networking. In such scenarios, low-overhead and energy-efficient routing protocols for delivering messages among robots are a key requirement. Two important primitives for communication are essential for enabling a wide variety of mobile robot applications. First, unicast communication (between two robots) needs to be provided to enable coordination and data exchange. Second, in many applications, group communication is required for flexible control, organization, and management of the mobile robots. Multicast provides a bandwidth-efficient communication method between a source and a group of robots. In this paper, we first propose and evaluate two unicast routing protocols tailored for use in ad hoc networks formed by mobile multi-robot teams: Mobile robot distance vector (MRDV) and mobile robot source routing (MRSR). Both protocols exploit the unique mobility characteristics of mobile robot networks to perform efficient routing. Our simulation study show that both MRDV and MRSR incur lower overhead while operating in mobile robot networks when compared to traditional mobile ad hoc network routing protocols such as DSR and AODV. We then propose and evaluate an efficient multicast protocol mobile robot mesh multicast (MRMM) for deployment in mobile robot networks. MRMM exploits the fact that mobile robots know what velocity they are instructed to move at and for what distance in building a long lifetime sparse mesh for group communication that is more efficient. Our results show that MRMM provides an efficient group communication mechanism that can potentially be used in many mobile robot application scenarios.
This paper proposes a session control model for the P2P(Peer to Peer) IPTV(Internet Protocol Television) services and presents the IPTV session control procedures based on the proposed model. Since, while public IPTV traffic is usually processed via a separate network, P2P IPTV traffic is processed together with the conventional Internet access traffic, the P2P IPTV control mechanism needs to provide multi-stream processing for the constituent TPS(Triple Play Service) traffic and corresponding QoS(Quality of Service) control functions. Besides, P2P IPTV session control mechanism should provide appropriate multicast control functions in order to support effective transmission of video traffic generated by personal IPTV broadcasters. The P2P IPTV session control model proposed in this paper is designed to be based on the standard SIP(Session Initiation Protocol), IGMP(Internet Group Management Protocol), and COPS(Common Open Policy Service) protocol so that it can contribute to the easy and prompt deployment of inter-operable P2P IPTV platform.

Collaborative research in science applications based on HPC service needs rapid transfers of massive data between research colleagues over wide area network. With regard to this requirement, researches on enhancing data transfer performance between major superfacilities in the U.S. have been conducted recently. In this paper, we deploy multiple data transfer nodes(DTNs) over high-speed science networks in order to move rapidly large amounts of data in the parallel filesystem of KISTI's Nurion supercomputer, and perform transfer experiments between endpoints with approximately 130ms round trip time. We have shown the results of transfer throughput in different size file sets and compared them. In addition, it has been confirmed that the DTN cluster with three nodes can provide about 1.8 and 2.7 times higher transfer throughput than a single node in two types of concurrency and parallelism settings.
The security of wireless sensor networks is a challenging research area where the resources constraints are a bottleneck for any successful security design. Due to their computational feasibility, symmetric key algorithms that require key pre-distribution are more desirable for use in these networks. In the pre-distribution scheme, keys or keying materials are assigned to each node prior deployment to guarantee a secure communication within the entire network. Though several works are introduced on this issue, yet the connectivity and resiliency are imperfectly handled. In this paper, we revisit the grid based key pre-distribution scheme aiming to improve the connectivity, introduce a higher resiliency level, simplify the logic of key establishment and maintain same level of used of resources usage. The core of our modification relies on introducing the novel plat-based polynomial assignment and key establishment mechanism. To demonstrate the advantageous properties of our scheme over the revisited one, details of consumed resources, resulting connectivity, security and comparisons with relevant works are introduced.
XML encryption is to provide confidentiality service, though not limited to, for web contents. XML encryption can be applied to entire data files as opaque objects, or more frequently to various parts of XML documents, supporting various encryption granularity. It is this characteristic that makes XML encryption a more efficient alternative for data confidentiality in various web applications than is possible with SSL/TLS, IPsec, PGP, or S/MIME. It is essential for successful deployment of XML encryption to achieve interoperability among the products implementing this technology, which requires the products to implement the XML encryption standards correctly. Conformance testing is to test if products implement the relevant standard correctly. In this paper we present a conformance testing method for XML encryption products and implement it. We will first look at XML encryption standards developed by W3C, and extract test criteria. Then we propose a testing method in which the encryption capability and the decryption capability of a product are tested separately. The proposed methody is actually implemented as a GUI-based testing tool and some test results are presented.
Passenger safety is fundamental factor in automobile. Among much equipment for passenger safety, the air bag system is the most fundamental and effective device. Beside of the front air bag system which installed on most of all automobiles, a curtain-type air bag is increasingly adapted in deluxe cars fur protecting passengers from the danger of side clash. Curtain type airbag system consists of inflator housing, fill hose, curtain airbag. Inflator housing is a main part of the curtain-type air bag system for supplying high-pressure gases to deploy the air bag-curtain. Fill hose is a passageway to carry the gases from inflator housing to each part of curtain airbag. Therefore, it is very important to design the vent holes of fill hose for good performance of airbag deployment. But, the flow information from vent holes of fill hose is very limited. In this study, we measured instantaneous velocity fields of a high-speed flow ejecting from the vent holes of fill hose using a dynamic PIV system. From the velocity Held data measured at a high frame-rate, we evaluated the variation of the mass flow rate with time. From the instantaneous velocity fields of flow ejecting from the vent holes in the initial stage, we can see a flow pattern of wavy motion and fluctuation. The flow ejecting from the vent holes was found to have very high velocity fluctuations and the maximum velocity was about 480m/s at 4-vent hole region. From the mass flow rate with time, the accumulated flow of 4-vent hole has occupied about 70% of total flow rate.

Smartphones have features that users feel free to install/delete the program they want. Their emergence makes many developers rush into the Smartphone application development market. Thus, developing good applications quickly is becoming even more intense competition in the market. Because, however, the application development and deployment procedures are simple in the Android environments and anyone can participate in the development easily, applications not validated thoroughly are likely to be deployed. Therefore, a systematic approach that can verify Android-based applications with fewer burdens is required. In this paper, we propose a method that generates automatically GUI-based testing scenarios for the Android applications. The automated test scenario generation can reduce the time which the developer spends on testing, thus it can improve the productivity of the development in the testing phase.

Geographic information system (GIS) based renewable energy resource map including potential analysis can play a crucial role not only to develop the national plan for renewable energy deployment but also to make strategic investment decision in the private sector. Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER) has been developing domestic maps about several resources such as solar, wind, hydro, biomass, and geothermal, as well as conducting research on methodologies for potential analysis. Furthermore, the institute is trying to transfer related technologies and know-how to foreign countries, recently. In this context, the main purpose of this study is to introduce the business model of renewable energy resource map. From the value chain analysis, we focus on the government-side market in foreign countries, such as the development of the national level renewable energy resource map and the support of the national renewable energy plan. For about 180 countries, we segment the customers according to the consideration of economic capacity, renewable energy resource capacity, existence of renewable resource map, current portion of renewable energy facility capacity, and renewable energy policies, and we conclude that the target customers are non-Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (non-OECD) countries or some OECD countries, their per capita GDP are under the average among OECD countries, that do not have renewable resource map yet. We segment the target customers into four groups, and suggest different strategies for market positioning and financing strategy based on Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats (SWOT) analysis. This study can help to develop the business strategy about the development of renewable energy resource map in foreign countries.
Real-time controllability has been a major challenge that should be addressed to ascertain the practical usage of the management systems. In this regards, for the first time, we proposed and implemented an IoT(Internet of Things)-based water tank system to improve convenience and efficiency. The reservoir can be effectively controlled by notifying the user if the condition of the reservoir is unstable. The proposed system consists of embedded H/W unit for sensor data measuring and controling, application S/W for deployment of management server via web and mobile app, and efficient database structure for managing and monitoring statistics. And machine learning algorithms can be applied for further improvements of efficiency in practice.

LoRa (Long Range) is a long-distance, low-power communication technology. Broader range of communication than NFC technology allows communication without having to install multiple APs and reduces the cost of initial infrastructure deployment. MQTT (Message, Queuing, Telemetry, Transport) protocol is also low power and lightweight protocols. It can increase module persistence and reduce maintenance costs when used with LoRa. In this paper, we developed a system for compiling various environmental information in a factory using LoRa and MQTT. Environmental sensor data from long distances can be monitored by the management system and the facilities in each workshop can be controlled. Performance tests have also shown that the use of LoRa and MQTT is effective in terms of long-distance and power consumption.
