One of the chlorofluorocarbon compounds. R-12 deplete atmospheric ozone. It leads to international agreement to reduce CFC production. R-134a has similar thermodynamic properties to CFC-12. It has zero ODP(Ozone Depletion Potential). This Paper focuses on the lubricating oils for using with R-134a PAGs(Polyalkylene Glycol's) and esters are primary lubricants that are now being tested for use with R-134a Because of extreme polarity of R-134a. there are many problems in the selection of lubricating oil. This investigation analyzes compressor working conditions and calculates wear parts friction for simulation testing. Miscibility and material compatibility is proved by sealed glass tests. Friction was tested on the closed type pin on disk wear tester. This equipment simulates actual refrigerating compressor. Environment controlled test made more reliable result than field test Conventional oils(mineral oils, Alkylbenzene, PAO(Polyalpha Olefin) are immiscible with R-134a. PAGs and ester oils are miscible with R-134a. Friction coefficient is similar to conventional system(mineral oil/R-12 systems) at operating condition. At start & stop condition, PAGs/R-134a system has high friction coefficient. It provide reliable result on the lubricity, miscibility, material compatibility of R-134a with these new lubricants. It suggests proper selection of refrigeration oil that may improve compressor durability of performance.

The interest about new and renewable energy is increasing to reduce the burden of problems by depletion of fossil fuels and air pollutions. For example, LNG/CNG and LPG are expected to be replaced, especially in transportation use, by HCNG mixture and DME-LPG mixture, respectively. Because these new energies are still flammable gases, it is not inherently safe from the explosion. In this research, the quantitative risk analysis for using alternative mixtures in existing recharging facilities has been studied by using three types of explosion models (TNT equivalency model, PHAST and CFD-based FLACS) to manage the risk effectively. The differences of results by models were compared against, and the practical ways of when and how to use these models were suggested. It was also predicted that conventional gas filling stations would be converted as new energy stations without additional explosion risk.
This paper introduces emergy(spelled with "m") that is a new environmental indicator in architecture, aiming to clarify conflicting claims of building design components in the process of energy-retrofit. Much of design practitioners' attention on low energy use in operational phases, may simply shift the lowered environmental impact within the building boundary to large consumption of energy in another area. Specifically, building energy reduction strategies without a holistic view starting from natural formation, may lead to the depletion of non-renewable geobiological sources (e.g. minerals, fossil fuels, etc.), which leaves a building with an isolated energy-efficient object. Therefore, to overcome the narrow outlook, this research discusses the total ecological impact of a building which embraces all process energy as well as environmental cost represented by emergy. A case study has been conducted to explore emergy-driven design work. In comparison with operational energy-driven scenarios, the results elucidate how energy and emergy-oriented decision-making bring about different design results, and quantify building components' emergy contribution in the end. An average-size ($101.9m^2$) single family house located in South Korea was sampled as a benchmark case, and the analysis of energy and material use was conducted for establishment of the baseline. Adoption of the small building is effective for the goal of study since this research intends to measure environmental impact according to variation of passive design elements (windows size, building orientation, wall materials) with new metric (emergy) regardless of mechanical systems. Performance simulations of operational energy were developed and analyzed separately from the calculation of emergy magnitudes in building construction, and then the total emergy demand of each proposed design was evaluated. Emergy synthesis results verify that the least operational energy scenario requires greater investment in indirect energy in construction, which clearly reveals that efficiency gains are likely to be overwhelmed by increment of material flows. This result places importance on consideration of indirect energy use underscoring necessity of emergy evaluation towards the environment-friendly building in broader sense.

In recent, shipping companies have made an enormous effort to improve the operation of vessel in various approaches, due to recession of shipping market and increasing competition among shipping companies. One of important parameters for improving the efficiency of vessel is the resistance performance that consist of friction and residual resistance. Especially, it is recognized that the friction resistance tends to be affected by conditions of vessel’s surface and occupies approximately 70~90% of the total resistance for slow speed ships. In general, the surface of vessel is covered with various type of paint to reduce fouling and corrosion. As time goes by, however, it is so hull roughness would be increased by fouling over the wetted surface that anti-fouling paints, such as CDP(Controlled Depletion Paint), Tin-Free SPC(Self Polishing Co-polymer) or Foul Release, are applied evenly on the hull surface. Nevertheless, these anti-fouling paints could not prevent fouling absolutely. A fundamental study on evaluating ship resistance performance variation due to hull roughness has been performed using a commercial software, Star-CCM+, which solves the continuity and Navier-Stokes equations for incompressible and viscous flow. The results of present simulation for plate are compared with some experimental data available and the effect of surface roughness to ship resistance performance is discussed.
In this study, thermodynamic performance of R435A is examined both numerically and experimentally in an effort to replace HFC134a used in the refrigeration system of domestic water purifiers. Even though HFC134a is used predominantly in such a system these days, it needs to be phased out in the near future in Europe and most of the developed countries due to its high global warming potential. To solve this problem, cycle simulation and experimental measurements are carried out with a new refrigerant mixture of 20%R152a/80%RE170 using actual domestic water purifiers. This mixture is numbered and listed as R435A by ASHRAE recently. Test results show that the system performance with R435A is greatly influenced by the amount of charge due to the small internal volume of the refrigeration system of the domestic water purifiers. With the optimum amount of charge of 21 to 22 grams, about 50% of HFC134a, the energy consumption of R435A is 11.8% lower than that of HFC134a. The compressor discharge temperature of R435A $8^{\circ}C$ lower than that of HFC134a at the optimum charge. Overall, R435A, a new long term environmentally safe refrigerant, is a good alternative for HFC134a requiring little change in the refrigeration system of the domestic water purifiers.

Each country in the world currently concentrates on shifting into clean energy, which can be alternative energy, for global environment protection and solution to the problem of fossil fuel depletion. The Korean government is predicted to develop renewable energy, such as solar power, ground power, and offshore wind power, and to increase their supply ratios by ending the use of coals and nuclear power plants. This study conducted experiments on thermal storage performance of Trombe wall thermal storage materials using solar power and simulations in order to offer baseline data for the development of a hybrid air circulation system for heating that can maximize efficiency by simultaneously using solar and geothermal power. The study results are as follows: (1) In all the specimens with 3m, 5m, and 7m in the length of thermal storage pipe, $5.7^{\circ}C$, $7.8^{\circ}C$, and $10.5^{\circ}C$ rose, respectively, as the thermal storage effect of the specimens attaching insulation film and black tape to the general funnel. They were most excellent in terms of thermal storage effect. (2) As a result of thermal performance evaluation on the II type specimens, II-3 ($7.8^{\circ}C$ rise) > II-4 ($5.3^{\circ}C$ rise) > II-1 ($3.9^{\circ}C$ rise) > II-2 ($2.3^{\circ}C$ rise) was revealed, and thus II-3 (insulation film + black tape) was most effective as shown in the I type. (3) This study analyzed air current and temperature distribution inside of the greenhouse by linking actually measured values and simulation interpretation results through the interpretation of CFD (computational fluid dynamics). As a result, the parts absorbing heat and discharging heat around the thermal storage pipe could be visibly classified, and temperature distribution inside of the greenhouse around the thermal storage pipe could be figured out.

In this study, thermodynamic performance of R430A is examined both numerically and experimentally in an effort to replace HFC134a used in the refrigeration system of domestic water purifiers. Even though HFC134a is used predominantly in such a system these days, it needs to be phased out in the near future in Europe and most of the developed countries due to its high global warming potential. To solve this problem, cycle simulation and experimental measurements are carried out with a new refrigerant mixture of 76%R152a124% R600a using actual domestic water purifiers. This mixture is numbered and listed as R430A by ASHRAE recently. Test results show that the system performance with R430A is greatly influenced by the amount of charge due to the small internal volume of the refrigeration system of the domestic water purifiers. With the optimum amount of charge of 21 to 22 grams, about 50% of HFC134a, the energy consumption of R430A is 13.4% lower than that of HFC 134a. The compressor dome and discharge temperatures and condenser center temperature of R430A are very similar to those of HFC134a at the optimum charge. Overall, R430A, a new long term environmentally safe refrigerant, is a good alternative for HFC134a requiring little change in the refrigeration system of the domestic water purifiers.
Sustained economic development around the world is accelerating resource depletion. Research and development of secondary batteries that can replace them is also being actively conducted. Secondary batteries are emerging as a key technology for carbon neutrality. The core of an electric vehicle is the battery (secondary battery). Therefore, in this study, the temperature change by the heat source of the hammer and the rotational speed (rpm) of the abrasive disc of the Classifier Separator Mill (CSM) was repeatedly calculated and analyzed using the heat flow simulation STAR-CCM+. As the rotational speed (rpm) of the abrasive disk increases, the convergence condition of the iteration increases. Under the condition that the inlet speed of the Classifier Separator Mill (CSM) and the heat source value of the disc hammer are the same, the disc rotation speed (rpm) and the hammer temperature are inversely proportional. As the rotational speed (rpm) of the disc increases, the hammer temperature decreases. However, since the wear rate of the secondary battery material increases due to the strong impact of the crushing rotational force, it is determined that an appropriate rpm setting is necessary. In CSM (Classifier Separator Mill), it is judged that the flow rate difference is not significantly different in the direction of the pressure outlet (Outlet 1) right above the classifier wheel with the fastest flow rate. Because the disc and hammer attachment technology is adhesive, the attachment point may deform when the temperature of the hammer rises. Therefore, it is considered necessary to develop high-performance adhesives and other adhesive technologies.

Recent decades have seen all over the world increasing drought in some regions and increasing flood in others. Climate change has been alarming in many regions resulting in degradation and diminution of available freshwater. The effect of global warming and overpopulation associated with increasing irrigated farming and valuable agricultural lands could be particularly disastrous for coastal areas like the one of Benin. The coastal region of Benin is under a heavy demographic pressure and was in the last decades the object of important urban developments. The present study aims to roughly study the general effect of climate change (Sea Level Rise: SLR) and groundwater pumping on Seawater intrusion (SWI) in Benin's coastal region. To reach the main goal of our study, the region aquifer system was built in numerical model using SEAWAT engine from Visual MODFLOW. The model is built and calibrated from 2016 to 2020 in SEAWAT, and using WinPEST the model parameters were optimized for a better performance. The optimized parameters are used for seawater intrusion intensity evaluation in the coastal region of Benin The simulation of the hydraulic head in the calibration period, showed groundwater head drawdown across the area with an average of 1.92m which is observed on the field by groundwater level depletion in hand dug wells mainly in the south of the study area. SWI area increased with a difference of 2.59km2 between the start and end time of the modeling period. By considering SLR due to global warming, the model was stimulated to predict SWI area in 2050. IPCC scenario IS92a simulated SLR in the coastal region of Benin and the average rise is estimated at 20cm by 2050. Using the average rise, the model is run for SWI area estimation in 2050. SWI area in 2050 increased by an average of 10.34% (21.04 km2); this is expected to keep increasing as population grows and SLR.
In many sensor network applications, sensor nodes are deployed in open environments, and hence are vulnerable to physical attacks, potentially compromising the node's cryptographic keys. False sensing report can be injected through compromised nodes, which can lead to not only false alarms but also the depletion of limited energy resource in battery powered networks. Fan Ye et al. proposed that statistical en-route filtering scheme(SEF) can do verify the false report during the forwarding process. In this scheme, the choice of a partition value represents a trade off between resilience and energy where the partition value is the total number of partitions which global key pool is divided. If every partition are compromised by an adversary, SEF disables the filtering capability. Also, when an adversary has compromised a very small portion of keys in every partition, the remaining uncompromised keys which take a large portion of the total cannot be used to filter false reports. We propose a fuzzy-based adaptive partitioning method in which a global key pool is adaptively divided into multiple partitions by a fuzzy rule-based system. The fuzzy logic determines a partition value by considering the number of compromised partitions, the energy and density of all nodes. The fuzzy based partition value can conserve energy, while it provides sufficient resilience.
