Effect of Chungjokupye-tang on the Anti-cancer Property (청조구폐탕의 항암효과에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this research was to investigate the effects of Chungjokupye-tang(CJKPT) on the anti-carcinogenic action. The cell viability of mouse spienocytes and thymocytes were enhanced by the addition of CJKPT. CJKPT were increased of splenic and thymic T lymphocytes, such as T/sub H/ cells were markedly increased by the treatment of CJKPT in vivo. CJKPT treatment induced the apoptotic cell death of Jurkat and HL60 leukemia cells. CJKPT reduced mitochondrial transmembrane potential and increased the expression of ICE, c-myc and p53 gene in Molt-4cells dose dependant manner. These results suggest that CJKPT have an anti-carcinogenic action via immunoregulatory mechanism.

  • The failure phenomenon of Dual Basalt Fibers Reinforced Epoxy Composites(DFC) under tensile load was studied using acoustic emission(AE) technique. AE amplitude and AE energy were mainly associated with the internal microscopic failure mechanism of DFC specimen, such as fiber fracture, matrix cracking, and fiber/matrix debonding. Fiber failures in the DFC specimens were distinguishable by showing the highest AE energy amplitude. They were dependant on the fiber diameters. Matrix cracking was determined from the relatively lower AE amplitude and AE energy, whereas fiber/matrix debonding could not be successfully isolated. AE method, however, can be applicable to the fragmentation method for interfacial strength(IFSS) in DFC specimens with adjusting the threshold to isolate fiber breaks from matrix crack and debonding.

  • The purposes of this paper are the review and derivation of design characteristics for the new construction of the practical flexible manufacturing system. The basic ideas to analyze the manufacturing system which is the automatically operated are dependant on the various manufacturing procedures in factory. The practical flexible manufacturing systems have various mechanical subsystems appropriated fur the final manufacturing products. Therefore the systems have the various kinds of hardwares as well as softwares. We study the software for the practical flexible manufacturing system designed and developed in the Halla University with the related company. Specially the design concepts and using specifications of all subsystems which are composed of mechanical and electronic movements of the product are analyzed and introduced in this dissertation.

  • During PWHT, it is well known that residual stress in weld HAZ is one of the reasons for PWHT embitterment. In case of static loading, it was experimentally found that fracture toughness of weld HAZ was dependant upon PWHT conditions. However, the effects of PWHT on fatigue behavior are not clearly verified. Therefore, in this paper, the effects of heating rate PWHT conditions and residual stress simulated in weld HAZ of Cr-Mo steel on fatigue crack propagation behavior were evaluated by fatigue Testing and SEM observation. The obtained results are summarized as follows; 1. Applied stress($10 Kgf/mm^2$) in weld HAZ during PWHT tneded to decrease fatigue strength and to increase fatigue crack growth rate. 2. Applied stress and slow heating rate of 60.deg. C/hr during PWHT contributed to precipitin of impurity elements as well as carbide, which promoted the fatigue crack growth. 3. Fatigue crack growth rate decreased at the heating rate of 220.deg. C/hr in contrast with 600.deg. C/hr and 60.deg. C/hr.

A Study on Grooving Corrosion at the Weld of a Low Carbon Steel Pipe Made by Electrical Resistance Welding (탄소강관의 ERW 용접부 홈부식 손상에 관한 연구)

  • Although leakage at a low carbon steel pipe made by electrical resistance welding (ERW) was reported due to grooving corrosion, the cause for the corrosion has not yet been cleared. In order to clarify the main cause, failure analysis on the leaked pipe was carried out, followed by metallographic investigation and corrosion test for the various ERW pipe made with different welding heat input. The microstructure, particularly inclusion content, of the weldment is dependant on the welding heat input applied. For an improper low heat input, the amount of inclusion at the weld was high. High inclusion content accelerated grooving corrosion at the weld. It is therefore that welding heat input should be controlled based on the carbon content of the pipe in order to improve the corrosion resistance of the ERW pipe.

A Genetic Algorithm for Scheduling Sequence-Dependant Jobs on Parallel Identical Machines (병렬의 동일기계에서 처리되는 순서의존적인 작업들의 스케쥴링을 위한 유전알고리즘)

  • We consider the problem of scheduling n jobs with sequence-dependent processing times on a set of parallel-identical machines. The processing time of each job consists of a pure processing time and a sequence-dependent setup time. The objective is to maximize the total remaining machine available time which can be used for other tasks. For the problem, a hybrid genetic algorithm is proposed. The algorithm combines a genetic algorithm for global search and a heuristic for local optimization to improve the speed of evolution convergence. The genetic operators are developed such that parallel machines can be handled in an efficient and effective way. For local optimization, the adjacent pairwise interchange method is used. The proposed hybrid genetic algorithm is compared with two heuristics, the nearest setup time method and the maximum penalty method. Computational results for a series of randomly generated problems demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms the two heuristics.

  • Nowadays, many of PSC bridges has constructed because high performance and long span bridge is required. Therefore, it is required that the evaluation of PSC bridges which retain various structure performance. In this study, nonlinear FEM analysis was performed with two parameter, concrete compressive strength and effective prestress force which is dominant factor for evaluating structural behavior of PSC bridge. Concrete compressive strength was adapted between 30Mpa and 100Mpa and effective prestress force was used the value which is considered effective rate for time-dependant effect. In the result of this study, it was showed that concrete compressive strength and effective prestress force is important factor for evaluating structural behavior of PSC bridge.

Oxidative Damage in rats by Inhalation Exposure to Hexavalent Chromium (흰쥐의 6가 크롬 흡입폭로에 의한 산화적 손상에 관한 연구)

  • According to the epidemiological studies in chromium workers, hexavalent chromium is associated with the risk of lung cancer. Cellular oxidative damages by reactive oxygen species produced by hexavalent chromium exposure may play an important role in the carcinogenesis process. We investigated the availabilities of malondialdehyde measurement for the assessments of oxidative damages from chromium exposure with an experimental inhalation study in vivo. Lipid peroxidation, one kind of cellular oxidative damage, was measured in blood plasma of the rats which inhaled the hexavalent chromium mist for 1, 2 and 3 weeks. The concentrations of malondialdehyde (MDA), the metabolite of lipid peroxidation, in all exposed groups were higher than those of controls with dose-dependant manner. The levels of MDA were also correlated with urine chromium levels of the rats. Therefore, MDA as an indicator of lipid peroxidation could be proper biologic marker for the assessment of the oxidative damage from chromium exposure, which might be involved in carcinogenesis.

Effect of Mn on the Growth of ZnO Crystals via a Thermal Evaporation of Zn-Mn Mixture (Zn-Mn 혼합물의 열 증발에 의한 ZnO 결정의 성장에 미치는 Mn의 영향)

  • ZnO crystals with different morphologies were synthesized through a thermal evaporation of Zn-Mn mixtures in air. The morphology was dependant on the Mn content in Zn-Mn mixture. The morphology was changed from rod to tetrapod shape with decreasing Mn content in Zn-Mn mixture. The result indicates that the concentration of Mn might be responsible for the different morphologies of ZnO crystals. XRD spectra showed that the ZnO crystals had a hexagonal wurtzite crystal strutures. For all the samples, room temperature cathodoluminescence spectra showed a ultra-violet emission at 380 nm and a green emission at around 500 nm. However, the intensity ratio of ultra-violet emission to green emission was significantly different with the Mn content in the source material.

An Application of the Novel Techniques Detecting Partial Discharge Employable to GIS Using Optical Sensor

  • A novel technique has been proposed and related experimental works have been performed in order to detect the partial discharges and the location of the possible defects introduced into the Gas Insulated Switchgear. For this purpose, a prototype HY Pockels sensor has been developed and then employed in order to investigate its field applicability for finding the location of the defects using a 170kV GIS mock-up. Our proposed sensor enables us to measure the electric field variation due to the PD occurrence. In addition, the different PD patterns are observed, which might be dependant on the location and the distance of the sensor with respect to the PD source. Throughout this work, its linear response has been proved to be admissible as a function of the applied voltage. And also the position of the PD source might be distinguished by comparing the PD patterns.
